"Horizontal Distribute" buttons broken in Illustrator 24.2.1
Illustrator version 24.2.1 on Mac OS 10.14.6 When multiple objects in a row are selected and any of the Horizontal Distribute buttons are hit, the objects are stacked on top of each other instead of distributed out based on farthest left to right. It appears to be copying the function of Horizontal Align buttons.

Effects: Using Polygons & Star Tools: Have to Reset "Settings" for Twist to TWIST in a Circle (360º). What Happens Twilst will Twist on an Oval instead of a Circle.
Noticeable when making a Star and Effect "Twist" the Star within a Circle(s) Aligned Centered with the Circle(s).
Horizontal Tool: Alignment Needs Fixing with the Center does Not Align Properly as past Versions of Illustrator have with Perfect Alignment. Happens with Polygon & Start Tool.
ANNOYING When the Settings have to be RESET to make the Tools Function properly. I Miss the Old Reliability Tool Usage that you Never had to Reset. Resetting "Setting" is Annoying because it's a WASTE of TIME to ReDo and Set Up Illustrator Tools how users want to Use and Custom Personal Tool Usages liking.
PLEASE GO Back to the OLD STYLE RELIABILITY!

Horizontal tool: When Using Multiple Polygons & Star Tools. Alignment dose Not Align Properly.
The Center Point. / Reference Points are NOT Centered in the Polygons and Star Tools.ONLY Vertical Alignment works Properly.
New idea from comment
This comment was upgraded into a new idea: Horizontal Alignment Fails for Multiple Polygons/Star Tools; Centers Not Aligned (Vertical Alignment Works) -

Ron's comment worked for me too! Switch it to "align to selection" and it works fine.

SOLVED (for me): The button to the left of the alignment choices had been switched somehow from "Align to Selection" to "Align to Key Object." When switched back to "...Selection" the alignment buttons worked as they previously had. I don't know if this switch was because of a random keystroke accidentally hitting an unknown hotkey or if the default state was changed somehow during an update, but this fixed my issue.
