1. Envelope Distort with a top object that has curves with only one handle makes the contents tangled and broken

   When I try to use envelope distort it makes all of the type look crazy. I have used it successfully in the past, I unchecked the distort button in options. Not sure how to solve, I restarted and reinstalled Illustrator — still not working. The attached image shows the 2 elements I am trying to distort and the bottom shows the result I get.

   エンベロープにしたオブジェクトを極端に拡大すると結果がズレる

   再現手順:
   1. ドキュメントを作成してオブジェクトを描画し、適当なカラーを設定する
   →長方形や楕円形など、何でも良い。確認しやすくするため、小さめに作ると良い
   2. オブジェクトを選択し、「オブジェクト」メニュー→「エンベロープ」→「メッシュで作成」を実行する
   3. ダイアログで好きなメッシュ数を設定し、エンベロープを作成する
   4. 出来上がったエンベロープを選択したまま、3000～4000%など大きなパーセンテージで拡大する。
   →バウンディングボックス、拡大・縮小ツール、変形パネルでの数値指定など、拡大の方法は何でも良い

   実際の結果:
   特定の大きさを超えると、エンベロープ内のオブジェクトがメッシュからズレた大きさで変形される

   期待された結果:
   どれだけ拡大してもメッシュに合わせた大きさでエンベロープ内のオブジェクトが変形される

   回避方法:
   必要な大きさまで拡大してからエンベロープを作成する

3. BUG: Envelope Distort (with Anti Alias option on) changes colour values of embedded images.

   When trying to use Envelope Distort (eg Mesh) and the 'Anti Alias' option to maintain clarity, if the artwork features embedded images (eg a multichannel PSD that must be embedded for Envelope Distort action) it is clearly seen the results with and with AA active are different. Only without use of AA will the colour values remain faithful to the original pre-distorted image.

   Whilst I would expect some changes along edges, etc. that would benefit the most from using AA, it is seen across the entire image. This is not correct and renders the Envelope Distort function unusable for these cases.

4. Copy-pasting mesh between files results in rasterized image

   When copying and pasting a mesh from one file to another, it turns into a raster image. However, simply dragging and dropping the mesh object works fine

5. Envelope distort: Using arrow keys to adjust bend and H/V distortion nudges object down the page

   I am having a situation where I have created an arc envelope distortion of some text and, after committing my initial bend, decided to edit the distortion.

   The problem is that, when I go back into Envelope Distort > Edit Envelope and increase (or decrease) the bend, H or V distortion in the toolbar, for every digit I go up or down, the object itself nudges down the page by 30-40 points.

   I have changed the transformation reference point from the top to the center to the bottom of the object, but it doesn't matter. The object still nudges down the page.

   I have done this with several different pieces of text which were all arc'd using the Make With Warp menu selection
   I am on a 2017 MBP, Mojave, with 16GB RAM.
   My expectation is that the object would remain at the starting coordinates on the artboard and I would see the object bend and/or distort in place.
   What is happening is, the object is bending and distorting, but it is also nudging down the artboard at a pretty large rate of movement.

   Hope this makes sense and that it helps you fix this bug.

6. Envelope Distort using a shape with 4 points as a top object generates an unexpected envelope

   Text and envelope distort bug still needs work.
   I've seen this reported before but it is strange why it has not been addressed in the latest version of AI, the envelope distort with top object will warp text for example, incorrectly, if the bounding object is at a certain angle. The workaround is not satisfactory because the bounding object must be rotated more horizontally to the text, resulting in an env. distort that's not the intended effect. Please see examples of before and after: one is correct (had to derive from CorelDraw), the other is not (AI).

   Another issue is the resulting distorted texts' bounding shape is automatically converted into a curved object. It does not retain the original bounding shape that had only straight lines.

8. Spot channel percentage reduction after Envelope or Effect > Warp > Arc is applied to a DeviceN Transparent Single Ink Image

   My client embeds raster PSDs that include an additional spot channel and applies pre-distortion to them using Envelope or Effect > Warp > Arc. When the PSD is embedded, the spot channel becomes a Transparent Single Ink Image in the DeviceN color space with an alpha channel.

   After applying Envelope or Warp > Arc, the spot channel percentage is multiplied by the alpha channel value, while the alpha channel itself remains in the image. The result is a significant reduction in the effective spot ink coverage.
   In the attached example, a 50% spot in the original becomes 25% after the operation.

   Steps to reproduce
   1. Create a PSD containing a spot channel set to 50% and saved with transparency.
   2. Embed the PSD into the document so the spot channel is represented as a Transparent Single Ink Image in DeviceN with an alpha channel.
   3. Apply Envelope or Effect > Warp > Arc to the embedded PSD.
   4. Inspect Acrobat Output Preview > Separations and compare the spot channel percentage before and after the effect.

   Actual result
   The spot channel percentage is multiplied by the alpha channel value during the Envelope or Warp operation, while the alpha channel remains present in the image. This reduces the visible spot ink amount. Example: 50% spot becomes 25% in the post-effect image.

   Expected result
   A spot channel percentage should be retained regardless of the Envelope/Arc effect applied.

   Technical notes
   • The embedded spot channel is exported as a Transparent Single Ink Image in DeviceN with an alpha channel.
   • The problem appears to occur when geometric distortion is applied via Envelope or Effect > Warp > Arc.
   • Output Preview tools such as Acrobat Output Preview > Separations can be used to verify the discrepancy.

   Attachments
   I have attached a PDF that demonstrates the issue and includes the separations for convenience. Please compare the spot percentages in the original image and in the images after Envelope.

   Severity
   High for print accuracy and color separation workflows. This leads to incorrect ink percentages on separations and can cause production color failures.

10. Mesh Envelope Distortion renders as shifted on Large Canvas

    Taka look at the files attached.
    Envelopes on large canvas render their distorted content shifted, compared to normal canvas.
    It’s a bug similar to brushes: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/41713246
    Perhaps it’s time to fix these?

12. Envelope Distort, Layers, and Illustrator Performance Bug

    I've recently come across a bug with the envelope distortion tool. The bug happens when I use the Make with Warp effect on text. When this is applied, all the layers and sub-layers get frozen with no ability to see the thumbnail preview or to open or close any of the layers. This also affects the ability to hide or preview any layer, lock or unlock, and/or select anything in the layers.
    This also causes Illustrator to run very high ram while causing unresponsiveness and difficulty in processing and sometimes the inability to save files.

    So far, the work-a-rounds that I have found are to either expand the appearance of the effect or to go into the effect and change the font, either to a new one or re-select the original font.

    There seems to be a bug with a font selected and the envelope distortion effect that causes the layers and the program to glitch, brick, and become immensely slow at processing.

    I'm attaching a file that has this error saved in it.
    When typing this, I am working on a Windows PC that is up-to-date and running the latest up-to-date version of Illustrator.

    As per the comment from the developer of the LTTR/INK plugin, this issue is going to be fixed in the upcoming update of the tool.

13. Gradient mesh points and handles dissapearing

    Illustrator 23.0.1 Windows 10

    Points and handles of gradient meshes sometimes disappear if i draw a another object, like a rectangle, near or over them.

    Points stay selectable but are not highlighted. If I move them with the Keyboard, they reappear!

14. Distort objects using an envelope does not work

    Working on iMac with Ai 2019.
    The Envelope Distort tool gives this message:
    The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error.
    Will not even work on a simple rectangle, or by selecting two simple rectangles.

16. Making an Envelope Distort with mesh using an image limits the number of nodes

    I have been using the envelope distort feature (make with mesh) for a few years without any issues. It normally works exactly as I need it to. However, there now seems to be a problem...

    What I normally do is I embed an image (usually a tiff) into the illustrator file. Then Object > Envelope Distort > Make with mesh. Then I input the number of rows and columns I would like to use and distort as necessary. The number of rows and columns is normally not an issue. But now for some reason I am limited in the number nodes I can use — a limit only discovered by trial and error depending on the raster I am manipulating.

    I have opened old projects where I have done the same thing and the original mesh is working fine. However, when I try to reproduce the mesh from scratch it doesn't work. Even stranger is that I have imported a working mesh from an old project and applied it to the new raster in the new project and it distorts it even though the number of nodes is higher than the limit I came to by trial and error! But when I go to manipulate the imported mesh it doesn't work again.

    I have tried the following:
    - Changing the raster file type
    - Using older versions of Illustrator
    - Creating meshes on different simple objects and attaching to the raster
    - Uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator
    - Increasing hard drive space for virtual RAM

    My system never had any problems handling this process before - I use an SSD and 16 GB RAM with and intel i7 processor - which should be plenty of processing power for the job.

    Any help would be very much appreciated

    Envelope Distort > Make with warp > when changing % bend it keeps adding the new value to the old. If I have the slider at 20%, then change it to 10%, it warps the object as if it was set to 30%, before I've even hit OK.

20. Gradient Mesh effects on object broken

    Hi!

    I used the Mesh Tool on a very simply modified oval object(it looks like a symmetrical bicycle seat). And when I do so, the Mesh Tool ignores existing anchor points and arbitrarily creates new points along the object's path. Sometimes very near the object's original points, and sometimes directly on top of those points so there will be 2 overlapping points.

    Also, regardless if the object is isolated or not, changing the newly Gradient Meshed anchor point color values produces no effect. And clicking off of these points resets the point's color profile to Grayscale. If I change Grayscale to RGB, the point will change back to Grayscale when I click off and back onto the point.

    On a side note, I want to say that I appreciate Adobe and the Illustrator team for tending to all these issues. I know comments on your work can be harsh and it can make working on all this no fun. However, I've been using Illustrator since 2008, and I have noticed a tangible decline in the software's quality. I think by now I should have a healthy handle on the application, however I often feel lost, having to relearn unnecessary tool renames/reworks or gimmicky new features that feel very out of touch from the process I've developed as an illustrator over the last 11 years. Change is inevitable and can be awesome, however over this time I've come to feel very alienated within a tool that has become crucial to how I make a living. I often challenge myself to view all of this from the perspective that I just need to be patient and learn Illustrator as it is. Then I will be in tune with my tools how I remember being years ago. However, I dive into an illustration and am assaulted all over again by all of these tiny little bugs that stop me in my tracks. I have to invent 10-step solutions to something that should take 1 step. I don't feel like I'm using an intelligent application. I feel like I know more about Illustrator's capabilities than it knows about itself. It does not anticipate my needs. We are working with a very tight set of tool parameters, and there is no reason that 20 or 30 years of versions shouldn't be fit as a fiddle and offer intuitive assistance based on what the operator is attempting to achieve. As much as I love Illustrator, I am consistently infuriated by how tangled it feels.

    Sorry to drop all of this on you, but you need to know. I could go on and on about this, so if you ever need to pick a customer's brain, I'd be happy to help design the best Illustrator ever. But it's difficult to know the whole story sitting on the outside. So I have no idea what the design process has been these last 20ish years of Illustrator design. Best of luck! I know you all can fine tune a final REAL version of Illustrator that so many of us want. It is still great much of the time, but it is still very ripe with momentum killers that cost your patrons precious time and money. Thank you for your consideration.

    I used the Mesh Tool on a very simply modified oval object(it looks like a symmetrical bicycle seat). And when I do so, the Mesh Tool ignores existing anchor points and arbitrarily creates new points along the object's path. Sometimes very near the object's original points, and sometimes directly on top of those points so there will be 2 overlapping points.

    Also, regardless if the object is isolated or not, changing the newly Gradient Meshed anchor point color values produces no effect. And clicking off of these points resets the point's color profile to Grayscale. If I change Grayscale… more
