File won't SAVE nor SAVE AS; only SAVE AS COPY
Working on MacBook Pro, Catalina OS, Illustrator 25.2
The "SAVE" file is not an option. Whether an existing (an existing file with or without changes), or a new file - I cannot "SAVE".
The "SAVE AS" option looks to be available, but then it does not work.
The only thing that is a workable option is "SAVE AS COPY". Which is nonsense. This just started happening and I can't fix it. I've tried uninstalling Illustrator and re-installing. No change.
This is completely unacceptable and I've wasted 3 hours of precious deadline time trying to figure this out. HELP!!!

I am having this problem running Illustrator 28 on a Windows 11 machine (Surface Pro). No error message. When in this state, it won't do ANYTHING but only beeps at me. I have to use Esc to get any response. I agree that this is NOT an acceptable situation, and it sounds like it has been around for over 2 years without being fixed (it is now October 2023).

I have the same issues on same version 25.2
I get an error message
"an error occurred cannot save the file"I'm just using a local HDD and not a SAN, NAS , Cloud etc..

I've had major issues with Illustrator 25.2 not being able to "SAVE" or "SAVE AS" a file. So I tried "SAVE AS COPY"
Then when file name appears, I have deleted "COPY" from file name.
Then select "SAVE"
Then choose "REPLACE" on the pop up window.Seems to work, but totally ridiculous!! Help FIX THIS PROBLEM, Adobe!
