Color in Adobe CC Libraries Are Not Functioning As Expected?
I am using Adobe CC Design Apps, specifically the latest release, for Illustrator 25.2.3 (as of 5.14.21) on a 2017 MacBook Pro on BigSur 11.2.3. The issue that I am having is as follows:
I am building a library of 100+ illustrations that all use a custom library of CMYK colors. There are 10 colors in total.
I have created a CC library of my colors — each color has been set as a CMYK value and defined as a spot color with the global box checked. My documents are all set to the CMYK color space, and they are all using the same color setting.
I used this CC library to apply all of the colors in my 100+ illustrations.
When I try to change the values of a color in my library, my expectation of how CC libraries would work is that the change would then impact all of my illustrations that use the CC library—However, this is not the case. If I make a change to the values of a color in my library, it has no impact on my illustration at all.
As a test, I tried this with other RBG colors, I tried it with Pantone colors... I also tried looking at the same thing for type and its the same thing.
Is this a bug? Is this how the library is designed to work? I was under the impression that the intent of the library was to provide designers and teams with the ability to keep a system of assets (colors, type, images) up to date within a library and that if the library was updated, documents that make use of assets in the library would also update without having to make manual updates?
If anyone has any different information, if yo have had success using this function or suggestions for how to use it, I would be very interested and appreciative to any input.
