Illustrator Share for Review Automatically Links New Documents to Unrelated Older Projects
Adobe Illustrator Version: 30.8.2
Operating Systems: Windows and macOS (multiple team members affected)
Our team has been experiencing a recurring issue with Illustrator's Share for Review feature. When opening Share for Review on a document, Illustrator sometimes automatically associates that document with an existing review link from a completely unrelated project.
This happens even with brand-new documents created from scratch that have never been shared for review. These files were not created from copies or templates of the older documents and are unrelated to them.
For example, I am currently working on a new Illustrator document, but when I open Share for Review, it immediately displays a review associated with a completely different document from 24 days ago.
The incorrect review information appears immediately, before I attempt to create or share a review link.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a brand-new Illustrator document from scratch.
2. Design the artwork and save the file.
3. Open the Share for Review panel for the first time.
4. Illustrator may automatically display an existing review associated with a completely unrelated document.
5. Sharing that existing link results in the recipient seeing the older, incorrect artwork instead of the current document.
When Share for Review is opened on a new document that has never been shared, Illustrator should recognize it as a new document and allow the user to create a new review link. It should never associate an unrelated document's existing review with the current file.
Illustrator intermittently associates new documents with review links from older, unrelated projects. This can result in customers receiving review links that display the wrong artwork.
Additional Information:
- Multiple members of our design team are experiencing this issue.
- The problem occurs on both Windows and Mac computers.
- It is intermittent, but has happened repeatedly across different projects.
- The documents involved are often created entirely from scratch.
- Selecting "Create New Review Link" worked as a workaround in my most recent instance, but it does not address why unrelated review links are being associated with new documents in the first place.
Our team regularly uses Share for Review to send designs to customers for feedback and approval. This issue creates a serious reliability concern because customers may receive outdated or completely unrelated artwork.
It also creates the potential for one customer's artwork to be unintentionally shared with another customer.
We need to be able to trust that Illustrator is generating and displaying the correct review for the document we are working on.
Please investigate this issue and advise whether it is a known bug, whether a permanent fix is being developed, and whether there is a recommended solution beyond manually creating a new review link each time.
