An error occurred while saving the comment Sorry, Daniel, this is as much as I can do :(
The fact that the problem persists with older versions could probably mean it’s not these two, but something got changed with the OS handling it.An error occurred while saving the comment Weird... I checked this on my Windows 10 machine, and this still works, no matter which kind of art I grab...
Do you still have access to previous builds? Can you check if an older Ai version has problems with it? In this case in can be anyone’s fault: Ai, Ps, or even OS, so I hope it can help to figure it out. -

An error occurred while saving the comment This should be a native option, sure, but today we can use a free script by Sergey Osokin, SortLayerItems, to do that:
https://github.com/creold/illustrator-scripts/blob/master/md/Layer.md#sortlayeritems
Works like a clock! I wish you posted this sooner, because sorting these manually is ...ugh! Hope this helps, and thanks for the request! An error occurred while saving the comment Do you mean reordering layers themselves, or sorting objects within layers?

An error occurred while saving the comment Even though Illustrator uses double float format to store coordinates for points and objects, documents we create are still based on PostScript, and it uses points (based on inches). Even if we use millimeters as units (and I do as well!), these get recalculated. This leads to rounding errors — and this is my guess why it happens :(
I had to give up on using arrow keys mostly, because they work bad with Snap to Grid enabled... I use Move dialog, and become very efficient with it.
But it’s a workaround, and even though I am fast, having working keys instead would be much better! Thank you so much for the report.

This feature request is completed and it is available in Illustrator 28.0 and above.
An error occurred while saving the comment @C, I see what you mean, I struggle with the same problem, and I really doubt Illustrator can SELECT the file in the Finder / Explorer... I bet it’s something outside of its capabilities and both OS don’t really offer an integration like this.
But Ai can definitely allow to copy the name of the link...

An error occurred while saving the comment There is a way to toggle this, by assigning 0 to the /createLiveShapes flag in the Adobe Illustrator Prefs
This is hardly discoverable, and it should be a part of normal UI )along with Y-axis flipping: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/32428157-allow-users-to-set-direction-for-x-and-y-axes)AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Mark, there is an easy way to convert a live shape into 'dead' one, but with a separate 'Expand' command. I just have too much Expand commands :)

An error occurred while saving the comment Ah, OK. Hmm... Try to reproduce it with Space instead of H, can’t make it happen.
Do you have anything keyboard-related installed? Maybe some helper apps? Does it happen using any keyboard layout (don’t no much how Chinese input works, sorry). Have no other guesses so far :/An error occurred while saving the comment Why do you HOLD the H key?
Unlike Photoshop, Illustrator does not support 'spring-loaded keys', so pressing H once permanently switches the tool, and the previously used tool does not automatically revert. Here is a feature request about having this implemented in Ai: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/43625679-spring-loaded-toolsInstead of holding H, you should hold Space — it works like you expect it to do with holding H.
As for the blinking... I try to replicate this on Windows 10 machine (not sure if you are using 10 or 11), and it does not happen to me.
My guess is that Windows Keyboard Character Repeat Options are somehow involved... When you hold a key for a certain time (delay), Windows start sending the held letter with a specified repeat rate... Perhaps somehow it triggers Ai to do that. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Indeed. For some reason Ai requires us to use Group Selection when isolated, even though the scope is changed, and now Selection should treat object in group as top level objects. Clearly a miss :(

An error occurred while saving the comment Hm.
Ai allows this today. Not using all the ways you offered, but some.
1. You can change the number of sides in the Transform / Control / Properties panel — if your selected object is a live shape. If it’s not, but can be one, we can convert a fitting path into a live shape with Object > Shape > Convert to Shape
2. We can click the canvas with the picked Star / Polygon tool to get the creation dialog (and it works for other shapes) to set up values. Double-clicking the tool icon can be a method too, but then it’d require a variant of each dialog for each shape to also provide coordinates... Not sure it worth it, if we can just feed coordinates with a click (also try Alt-clicking for Rectangles and Ellipses to get them drawn from the center).I think you are aware of these method though...
The idea with pressing a number while dragging is fun, I like it! Upvoting just because of this one. -

An error occurred while saving the comment Sorry for offering scripts. Read about the problem you are having in another post. What seems to be the problem?
An error occurred while saving the comment Most things plugins do (especially paid ones) are desired to have form the box.
But to be fair — some plugins go more specialized than Ai can allow them to have for the majority of users.
If the plugin you have in mind is Gradient Forge by Astute Graphics — totally worth it.Also, there are free scripts that can help to achieve similar results, like this one:
https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/75097/how-to-repeat-a-gradient-multiple-times-in-illustrator-and-photoshopAnyway, the request is pretty valid, and I upvote it.
An error occurred while saving the comment Laura, this looks exactly like an operation Gradient Forge plugin can do. It has Swathes to Gradients and Artwork Fills to Gradient commands.
The plugin is paid though, but worth trying. There are several scripts solution that do the same thing:
1. https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/75097/how-to-repeat-a-gradient-multiple-times-in-illustrator-and-photoshop (even 2)
2. https://github.com/mhulse/illy-gradAn error occurred while saving the comment Another method for this would be the Gradient Forge plugin panel.
An error occurred while saving the comment Joreld, you are welcome. It does not mean Ai should not have it by default :)
An error occurred while saving the comment There are some external script solutions that can help you to do what you want:
1. https://github.com/mhulse/illy-grad — will create a gradient from multiple selected swathes in the panel
2.https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/75097/how-to-repeat-a-gradient-multiple-times-in-illustrator-and-photoshop — there are two different solutions in comments with slightly different functionality that use colors of on-canvas objects

An error occurred while saving the comment
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/33610747-add-an-option-for-trimming-side-bearings
An error occurred while saving the comment
An error occurred while saving the comment
AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) shared this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Yury, hi!
Thanks for the report (and FontLab). I checked UserVoice for older reports about this and found nothing. Perhaps the report had been made at forums or through PR program?
Anyway, it behaves OK for me, but on Windows. I will try to ask someone to test it using the same configuration as you have.
Do you use the same email to file the crash report as you use here at UV? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Russel, Sonoma causes sooo many issues for Illustrator users, that it can hardly be called 'upgraded' :(
Anyway — I suppose you chose report when you are given the choice? Did you use the same email the one you use here at UV, so that engineers can find your report in the database?
Can you please share a test file that 100% gives you this error, and ideally record a short video of you trying to use it? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Natively — only manually, using smart guides and Direct selection tool.
There is a paid plugin tool, Extend Path, by Astute Graphics — it allow you to extend paths, one or many at once, by dragging: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlriFIrSoDUAn error occurred while saving the comment There is also a script, which can help if you don’t have an AstuteGraphics subscription:

Less powerful than ExtendPath tool form the links above, but free.AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea ·
True. A lot of things are immune to Constrain Angle, even the most basic ones, like Line Tool: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/40166017-line-tool-is-immune-to-the-constrain-angle
