An error occurred while saving the comment Oliver, you can switch units using 2 custom JS scripts, wrapped in an action, one per unit.
Put this into a .jsx file for inches:
app.preferences.setIntegerPreference("strokeUnits", 0);
and this one for points:
app.preferences.setIntegerPreference("strokeUnits", 2);This is a workaround, sure, but an effective one.
Please try it and comment back.As for the mockup you propose — it is rather confusing. I understand the intention behind it, but it looks like Ai is going to handle unites separately, and not combined with a values, which is not cool at at all — no math, no live conversion, a step back. And as a solution it’s not much faster than the current method — 2 clicks compared to 5 clicks we have today (plus some aiming).

Does it jump in place when you disable GPU?
Does it get updated if you move the artwork left and same distance right?
You are on Intel Mac, but what are your GPU specs?

An error occurred while saving the comment This is is one of those core problems which are rarely discussed and less obvious for new users. Some of them have a basement below, some don’t. Let’s assume there is one and try to think of problems that may occur if this gets changed. I can’t think of one, but may be it is obvious to you, Mark?

An error occurred while saving the comment Attila, you don’t have to expand a text to use it as a clipping mask.
Just put the text above the art you want to clip, select both, and use Object > Clipping Mask > Make (or use the context menu, Make Clipping Mask). It works for me. Does it for you? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Well, it makes some sense. Unlike in Photoshop, the area outside of an artboard can be used and have a visible art in it.
But I don’t think is a weighted enough reason to not do this (even though this is Mac-specific problem and I am on Windows :) -

An error occurred while saving the comment This dialog is not a Recolor’s specific problem, the same Color Picker window for swatches is used anywhere in Illustrator where you try to set a color with a dialog. Sure it should be addressed, because color groups are important.

An error occurred while saving the comment Seems an obvious thing to have, true.
While we all wait, Astute Graphics already made it possible with their DynamicSketch tool. It’s paid, but works flawlessly. All the pressure gets translated into width markers. Plus they have dedicated tools to deal with variable stroke en masse. -

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.0.0 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
