Seda, and why do you think it is a bug?
If you want to modify spacing for a selection in a text, you should use tracking indeed. Kerning is a thing you tweak for pairs (also you can also set it to 'Optical', I wonder why Ai doesn’t say this).
Can you provide exact steps you are trying to do or record a video? And what is your intention behind it? What are you trying to do?

The latest Beta Build 29.5.35 now allows to Paste on Selected Artboards.

    1. Copy the artwork from the source artboard.

    2. Open the Artboards panel or select the Artboard tool. Then, select the target artboards.

    3. Go to the Edit menu and select a paste option (Paste in Place, Paste in Front, or Paste in Back) to position the artwork as needed. Alternatively, right-click the selected Artboard to access the paste options directly.

    Shortcuts are also available.

Try it please and share your feedback!

There is a simple script written by Sergey Osokin he shares here:
    https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/paste-on-selected-artboards-only/td-p/13160278
It can help you do exactly that.

AFAIK this is delayed because of some Microsoft-ish technical reasons :( Let’s hope the good will eventually win.

Does it still happen for you in newer releases?

Does this still happen for you, 4 years after?
If it does — how big are these differences? Can you provide some examples?
Are you sure your documents are in the same color mode (RGB/CMYK) and have the same color profile (Edit > Assign Profile)?

Nebojša, just in case, — do these documents have the same color profile (Edit > Assign Profile)? This won’t explain a problem with pasting a text though.
In Preferences: Clipboard Handling what are the checkmarks you having?
Do you have any third-party clipboard managers installed?

I remember the time when they flipped Alt behaviour for live/dead compound shapes — it used to be Alt to create expanded result. Years after I am used to it and find it a better workflow.

I also remember the time when Horizontal Scale field in Character was on the left, before Vertical Scale. Now it kinda is positioned next to Baseline Shift, and it makes some sense... but I am still confounded with Y coming before X here. I’d like to switch it back, but I know there are thousand of new users who learned it this new way, and it’s too late.

Dealing with defaults is always extremely impactful for some, but it has to be done anyway.

...but still I’d like to have a flag somewhere in Prefs file to switch, the same way we can flip Y-axis back!

Wow, this is bizarre! Thanks for the demo, it’s clear now.
No, this does not happen for me on Windows, this might be something Mac-specific. Needs testing.

Those on Windows, including myself, have a similar bug, when the application window gets restored from it’s maximized view, when a file is opened form the Explorer (still not fixed!), it feels like the same problem.

Derek, I can’t offer you nothing, sadly, except for trying a dumb workaround: turn on the Application Frame (temporarily, I understand this is not something you like, and I don’t get why, being a Windows user), make sure the window has the correct width when not maximized, and then turn the frame off again.
It feels like Ai remembers the maximum width of a document, based on something, and then shrinks it when it’s exceeded.

In Russia we use commas as delimiter too, and when I have to work with variables, I have to auto-replaces commas with dots in an external editor.

Would be nice to be able to choose a delimiter right there in Ai.

As a workaround, try to use Variable Importer script from Vasily Hall:
    https://github.com/Silly-V/Adobe-Illustrator/tree/master/Variable%20Importer
It closes some major gaps within native Variables.

I consulted some veteran users about this, and it feels it’s not what Illustrator ever had.

Some other applications (e.g. FreeHand) were able to interrupt the path by double clicking on an endpoint. Perhaps this it what you confused with Illustrator with.

The other possible confusion is the Lasso in Photoshop, which does end an operation on a double-click. Perhaps it all just got mish-mashed.

A double-click also bears the risk of imprecision, and this is what I personally often get working with the Lasso in PS, and prefer to hit Enter instead.

What was the last version you used before switching to CC versions? Every version after version 10 do not end a path drawn with the Pen with a double-click, so I have my doubts about the claim you make, I have to test it in earlier versions if these are what you used before the switch. Sorry, we can’t rely on your or my memories here, it’s a fluid matter.
Even if it’s not a lost feature, but a brand new suggestion, the research has to be done.

What I mean by 'double-clicking a node to change the corner/smooth' is Curvature tool, not Pen. They are somewhat alike, ad have similar tool icons even.

I just checked Illustrator 10 if it does stop drawing with a double-click — it does not. So either it was never a thing, or I didn’t check it deeper enough :)

Return, however, still ends the path in version 10.

So does the Escape — I am right-handed and I use it instead of Return, so maybe it can work for you as well.

As for the general idea of having in work with a double-click... The Pen is related to the Curvature tool, and it uses double-click to convert a sharp node to a smooth one and vice versa. Having the Pen with the double-click to end the path and not the Curvature can lead to more frustrations with their incomplete similarities.

Sure, it can be added as an option, but I personally don't think it’s entirely necessary.
