An error occurred while saving the comment Illustrator Desktop allow converting type object to outlines with Type > Create Outlines command. But is it what you mean? Or do you refer to the iPad version of Illustrator? Same deal there: select the type and choose Outline Text in the Type menu.

An error occurred while saving the comment Matt, I get the file, I try to move point all over the doc with the Direct Selection tool, but I can’t make it crash at all. Can you record a short video to show specific steps you make to get it?

How exactly it does not work? Is its command disabled in the menu? Or you can enable it, but nothing changes? Or a certain proof choice doesn’t work only? Was it ever working for you? -

An error occurred while saving the comment There is also FindReplace Art paid plugin that allows to do almost all of the features requested. Highly recommend to try it.

Hitting Tab does jump the cursor in the next filed for me.
Which fields, panels, dialogs do try? Please provide the details. Having a video can also help. -

The issue got resolved with a fresh installation.
In case the same happens to you — please check all the snapping options in the View menu, especially Snap to Pixel, and the Keyboard Increment value in Preferences > General.
An error occurred while saving the comment Glad it got solved, although sad a bit the bug got away.
If it ever happens again — please log a new report (I am closing this one).

Are you sure that 'Snap to Pixel' option is disabled?An error occurred while saving the comment Does not happen for me on Windows, it jumps correctly with 1mm.
Can you check grid settings and Snap to Grid (just in case!), and also local units, in Document Setup? -

An error occurred while saving the comment Lucy, cropping a live link is something we really can’t have in Ai — but we can clip it. And if you embed an image to Ai — it allows to physically crop it, removing the excessive pixels.
But what do you exactly mean by 'cropping a layer'? Why 'layer', and not an artboard, or an artwork? And which exactly workaround with Transform you are referring to? Can you please elaborate on this, and maybe provide some images to clarify the request?

What are you trying to do exactly?
To blend one live type object to another? Do you get a result you want when you outline them first?
