Adobe Illustrator's Multithreading Journey Begins!
Dear Illustrator Community,
I'm thrilled to announce that we've embarked on an exciting journey to bring multithreading capabilities to Adobe Illustrator. This significant undertaking will enhance performance and responsiveness across various aspects of the application.
While this is a complex process that will take some time to fully implement, I wanted to share our progress so far.
Our Approach
We've strategically begun by focusing on the most computationally intensive operations—those that typically take more time and block the main thread, resulting in slower response times while you work. By moving these operations to separate threads, we aim to significantly improve your overall experience with Illustrator.
It's important to note that you may see more noticeable impact in some areas than others initially. However, we want to assure you that this is just the beginning, and we will continue this journey to bring improvements across…

The solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.
PDF is now available as type in File > Export > Export As dialog.
However, File > Adobe PDF Presets menu, similar to one InDesign has, to allow even quicker export, is absent still.
If you want to have it, please upvote this new request here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48670088

There are now several separate requests made, based on the feedback in this thread:
1. Regarding adjustable color and opacity for 3D shadows:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47054086
2. Regarding presets for each tab in 3D and Materials panels: Object, Materials, Lighting:
http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47350001
All those who commented on the topic until October 16, 2023, are already added as voters there. If this is something you want to have for 3D and Materials in Illustrator — please upvote it. If possible — create new requests and bug reports about 3D, rather than commenting here inside. This will help the team to better prioritize efforts on making the feature better. As always — thanks for the feedback! It helps.
An error occurred while saving the comment Lewis Tsalis commentedCan we have the ability to adjust the color and values for each light? And an option to select the ambient light color. Thanks.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lewis Tsalis commentedThanks for clarifying. I don't see the point of having the global change of units in preferences. It just creates confusion and does not work as expected. Essentially, one should just ignore the preference setting and use the document setup to change units.
Another area of confusion with units is the Properties palette. Selecting a different unit here only affect the local document, whilst changing other settings (Ruler & Grids, Guides, Use Preview Bounds, Scale Corners, Scale Strokes & Effects) are global changes.
Also, if I chose another unit of measurement in Preferences, the Properties palette updates to show that unit of measurement. But if I chose a different unit of measurement in the Properties palette, the units don’t change in Preferences. This doesn’t work as expected.
An error occurred while saving the comment Lewis Tsalis commentedEgor, units in Preferences is millimeters and in Document Setup it's pixels.

Hi Everyone,
We have fixed this bug in our latest release – v 24.2.1 which is available worldwide now. Thanks for your patience on this.
Please note that after upgrading you might still see that Align To sets itself to Align to Key Object. If you see this, please manually set the Align To to the required setting, and this reported bug will not happen again. You’ll need to this one time only.
The reason Align To might get set to Key Object after update is because Ai remembers your last Align To on subsequent launches as well. So, if your last Align To was Key Object before quitting/upgrading, after first multi-selection, it will set itself to Key Object. After you manually change it one-time, it will work fine.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
An error occurred while saving the comment Lewis Tsalis commentedI've been using the 24.3 update that came out a week ago and it seems to have finally fixed the alignment bug.
An error occurred while saving the comment Lewis Tsalis commentedNot fixed. Still doing weird unexpected alignment and spacing things. It doesn't honour the key object and spaces to other random objects in selection. v24.2.3.

Hi Egor. It's been like this for many years, over many versions of AI and on various Windows and Mac machines. This means there have been many fresh installs and the issue is still there. On my current Mac set-up, UI scaling is set to small but it still happens at any scale. I did see another post here from someone having the same issue but it was unresolved. Screen resolution is 1920x1200 but it also happens on a M2 MacBook Pro's native resolution.
