An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment Eimantas commentedSome people here have no idea how Appearance and Groups work in Ai and get frustrated. Object can have a separate set of Appearance attributes to a group. So, the fill of the object can be a different colour than the group that it is enclosed in. Also, fills can be hidden by other fills stacked above them. That is why you do not always see the effect when you copy a fill to a group. To understand and see how the attributes interact and are stacked together, one needs to use Appearance Panel.

An error occurred while saving the comment Eimantas commentedLayer mask is different from clipping mask, therefore it's clearly not logical for layer panel to release clipping masks. It makes huge mess in a complex document.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 25.4.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

An error occurred while saving the comment Eimantas commentedI get into this problem every day for quite some time (I think since the first version AI 24) The latest updates did not fix this. Workaround it is to pull document tabs to separate floating windows or restart AI.

Please accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience. Please get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html . Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.

Hi All,
We have fixed this issue in 24.0.3 version of Illustrator (MAC only issue). Please update to 24.0.3 if you are encountering this issue. For all the other issues which you are encountering regarding the update or the new document dialog or any other please create another User Voice thread for that issue so that we can track it there itself.
Thanks & Regards,

@Colin. In your example, the group of black squares got a green fill when you copied it from the green rectangle. The green fill is not visible because it is behind the contents of the group. You need to bring the green fill above the 'contents' in the Appearance panel. I just wish Adobe maintains this functionality in Appearance attribute stacking and does not make Illustrator more simple because a lot of requests in this thread.
