There seem to be different ways people tackle the problem for color exploration. We want your opinion on the following two approaches -
1. Selected Swatches to show up in a panel view (like swatches).
2. Selected Swatches to show up as rectangular objects on the canvas (in a separate layer). Users can use eyedropper to pick up colors (ability to pick Fill, Stroke, Appearance in such cases).
Users can select size, spacing etc between the color palettes in both these approaches.

Dear Users,
We have launched this feature in the latest release of Illustrator, 24.2. I request you to try out this feature and give us your feedback.
Thanks,

I have been seeing this question come up many times, for those of you who are looking for information on how to expand your art board, Shift +O will activate handles on each of the 4 sides to expand up to 2,275 inches, but first you have to start with the maximum size of 2,275 inches when you create the document size.
I just don't understand what is the reason to go higher than that, about 190 feet, not sure which printing press will handle that size.Yasir supported this idea ·

While Katie Houghton Using the wrong graphics to explain layers comp, this graphics was created by me, last year, her post was 2018?

What I meant was the Top layers only, NOT the sublayers.
As you can see from the attached graphic, being able to assign colors to each layer that is connected to a certain version of my design, sometimes I have 3 or 4 versions to the design with small changes. all the Cs marked in blue belong to that one version, and all the Bs marked in Pink, all the As in Orange and so on. It is easier to spot and remember which layer belongs with the design version.
It seems my graphic that I included in my earlier post has been used by Katie Houghton in the original post. It didn't describe the idea I was presenting.
Thanks

simply mark any of your layers , lets say you have 20 layers and one will be the base for all the other variations, layers 1, 3, 20 or
20, 4, 5, 11 or
20, 9, 12 and so on I think a combination of colors and letters such as A, B, C.
you can assign as many as you need or a many in layers panel .
e.g. l have a drop shadow might not be utilized in one version, so it will be assigned to version X.Yasir supported this idea ·

Thanks for the suggestion Egor, but I’m looking for something more similar to Swatches panel. I want to be able to access those fonts only, certain designs I only use 4 or 5 fonts.

Thanks Egor,
what helped me get into Blender was my learning knowledge of Adobe Dimension, similar concept. Blender's modeling is all mesh, that's why objects can be controlled so well.
I hope the developer's team find a way to implement the mesh tool use in creating an .obj, as well as the use of the gradients tool.
Now with the M1 or M2 chip on Mac will give more power to make it work, there are lots of calculations required.
Thanks.

Hi Egor,
since my last post for the last 3 weeks , I have been in contact with Adobe Illustrator tech support, we spent a total of 3 hours worth of 3 sessions demonstrating all the different possibilities of exporting an obj file from illustrator using the Mesh Tool or the Gradient Tool with no results, they have promised after realizing it’s is not possible, to escalate it to developers team.
Since then, I have delved into learning Blender’s Modeling section to create my food packaging mock ups.
Hopefully there will be a fix in the near future. An error occurred while saving the comment Yasir commented
Hello Egor, I get a warning when I try to export an object with a mesh in it.
'3D and Materials' effect currently works only on some object types and cannot apply as multiple instances.
I googled that, and there was a post on the illustrator discussion, here is the link.
https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/troubleshoot-error-messages-when-applying-3d-materials-to-objects/td-p/12480487Although one response towards the end recommends to utilize 3D classic in Ai. But did not detail how, I wrote back hopefully he has further details.
I am trying to create a plastic bread bag with wrinkles on it, the Mesh tool gave me great results, but could not get it to Adobe Dimension.Yasir shared this idea ·

Actually I was looking for control of the point size as soon as you grab an object with a fill and stroke and with the shortcut D it will switch you to stroke……, then a selected field on the Stroke panel will be handy to just use arrow to increase or decrease. Size of stroke.
Like the feature for nudge, Cmd K opens preferences and Keyboard Increment is already highlighted, type in number of inches, mm, or pixels and hit ok.and then arrow key moves to your new distance.Yasir supported this idea ·

There is a way to do the same exact distortion in Illustrator, using a free MeshTormentor plugin (please see the full instruction in the comments).
However, an easier native way to do it is still welcome (as the general improvements over mesh distortion capabilities) — so please keep voting for this if you want it to happen.

I did a test to separate the drop shadow from its object,
it was a page curl in illustrator, in order to select just the drop shadow, I had to Expand Appearance then Ungroup and select. Too long of a process, if was working on a graphics with lots of drop shadows, it wouldn't be as easy.
I can see the developers thinking one might move the object without its shadow, therefore it has to be attached. I agree with Sofia Long point when working on a detailed illustration it would be time consuming, Object Selection by Path works on text only drop shadow is still attached.
I think there should be a tab in the Appearance Panel to detach both, or even better right click would be ideal just like as Unlock.Yasir supported this idea ·

When I am designing using 3-D tools that would be one workspace when I’m working on patterns that would be another workspace or when I’m designing a logo or designing a package for a product that would need another workspace so having to be able to customize it will be great.
Also, the ability to save the workspace and use it on another computer will help tremendously.Yasir supported this idea ·

There is a separate request now regarding adjustable color and opacity for 3D shadows: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/47054086
All those who commented on the topic until August 8, 2023, are already added as voters there.
If this is something you want to have for 3D and Materials in Illustrator — please upvote it.
If possible — create new requests and bug reports about 3D, rather than commenting here inside. This will help the team to better prioritize efforts on making the feature better. As always — thanks for the feedback! It helps.

To Kumar, 🙏Please don’t wish for a new software to handle 3D, Adobe is already planning to present us with 5 new apps, not part of the CC, we have to pay extra, so I say just ask Adobe to make a decent 3D tool in illustrator.
To answer Raha,
a question about the Symbols, with the new 3D you can bypass that and use the 3D pallets to drop your Graphic under Material, then access it from there and click only once and be aware that it might take a couple of extra seconds to show up on your 3D object, if you don’t have a fast computer. An error occurred while saving the comment Yasir commented
I hope Map Art will continue to be part of the new 3D features in Illustrator.
I think Photoshop users are the ones will need to use illustrator’s 3D features or use the newly developed Substance app; it will not be part of the CC, it’s an extra cost.
I’m more of a vector artist, and if Photoshop does not have the full 3D features, I can use illustrato,
but I need feedback about the Map Art in Illustrator.

In case you missed it, latest Ai versions now do have Cut, Copy, Paste (all subcommands) in the context menus.

Not sure if you have resolved your issue, but from your screenshot, I don’t see you select anything.
If not make sure you are in current version, and restart your app. -

I think it’s much faster to drag to drop to canvas,
1: they are easy to see.
2: you don’t have to enlarge layers, otherwise this will take up work area, and you only need certain swatches not all enlarged.
Selected Swatches to show up as rectangular objects on the canvas (in a separate layer). Users can use eyedropper to pick up colors (ability to pick Fill, Stroke, Appearance in such cases).
