Checkbox for prefix with filename when exporting for screens
When exporting for screens, it would be useful to be able to simply click a checkbox to prefix the output filename with the current filename.
For example, for "myFile.ai", containing artboards "Artboard1", "Artboard2", etc., it would output "myFile-Artboard1.png", "myFile-Artboard2.png", etc.
I realise the filename can be entered in the Prefix field but a checkbox would be a useful addition.

Export for screens should exclude template layers
When exporting for screens, any layers which are set as template or non-printing should be excluded from the output without having to first turn off that layer.

SVG export option to export global Color Swatches as CSS Custom Properties
In addition to classes and IDs, CSS custom properties (aka. CSS variables) are a great way to style SVG Content.
Conceptually they are closest to Illustrators global color swatches.I propose to add an Option to SVG Export of Adobe Illustrator to turn named global color swatches into CSS custom properties.
Example:
Original Output:
fill: #456; stroke: #abc;New Output:
fill: var(--medium-grey, #456) ; stroke: var(--dark-grey, #abc);Web applications could use the custom properties, to quickly create color-variations of an illustration.
Example: https://codepen.io/g12n/pen/KQwpJR/
An additional option could be a compatibility mode for the styling options "Inline Style" and "Internal CSS",…

Remember the 'Use Artboard' checkbox when exporting
When I export (SVGs and other formats) I have to check "Use artboard" every time... why not just remember this setting has been checked or uncheck from before

Appending number after SVG export
After exporting SVG files there is a version number added to the file name... can you make this optional... It adds a bunch of unnecessary steps to my work flow as I have to then navigate to the file and rename it every time I export...

Make copy/paste work between Illustrator and CorelDRAW (and vice versa)
Adobe and Corel are eternal rivals, I know.
But our (and not ours only, as far as I know) workflow requires both whales.
A lot of vynil-cutting shops, laser-engraving and large format printing shops work only in CD. We have to transfer our files back and forth from one program to another each day.We use PDF as a medium, but it's long way.
We also use this magnificent macros for CD:
https://github.com/cdrpro-macros/ai-clipboard
but it's not 100% solution.We need a way to copy/paste from/to AI from/to CD natively.

LessTime saving files
Hello,
as designers we come across slow process saving in a heavy illustrated files (too many vectors) when these vectors are shifted a bit or edit a text, the file needs to be saved again and it wastes a lot of time.
The solution here is using the smart technology (adobe sensei) which it will compare the files and saves accordingly -to check if the text has any amendments, and accordingly takes action in the saving process from within- and this tech to be applied on other elements.

GET RID OF THE REVERT HOTKEY!
The hot key for Revert is WAY too similar to the hot key for Save As in Photoshop and I lost an entire day fo work saving after finishing a project. The fact that that can happen accidentally, even with the approval button is INFURIATING!
53 votesThe latest Beta Build 29.0.38 now removes the default F12 keyboard shortcut for File > Revert command.
This will only affect those who use sets with F12 not assigned to anything else. A soft message will inform users about the change.
If you choose to use F12 for Revert, you can assign it back using Keyboard Shortcuts dialog.
Let’s hope nobody looses anything anymore because of accidental Revert!

Export selected only
Would like to see an "EXPORT SELECTED ONLY" option, so that you can export just a selection of items from a file with many elements. Really a pain to have to copy the items I want to export, and paste them into a new file in order to export them.
8 votesThere is File > Export Selection command in Illustrator now, that adds a selection as an asset into Asset Export panel and opens Export for Screens dialog immediately.

Save As PDF and PDF Export
Illustrator is long overdue for PDF export. Without PDF export saving a PDF from Illustrator is an arduous, multi-step process that must be repeated every time. There is also a dangerous trap in the process that can make the user’s file uneditable. Compare this to InDesign, which has PDF export and all changes are sticky.
Illustrator
1. File > Save a copy,
2. Change format to PDF,
3. Remove “ copy” from filename,
4. Change directory,
5. Click Save,
6. Enter PDF options,
7. Click Save.InDesign
1. File > Export,
2. Click Export.Because all options in InDesign are…
184 votesThe solution is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.
PDF is now available as type in File > Export > Export As dialog.
However, File > Adobe PDF Presets menu, similar to one InDesign has, to allow even quicker export, is absent still.
If you want to have it, please upvote this new request here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48670088

Place files via drag-n-drop but still allow options to be selected before placement.
If we want to place a page of a multi-page PDF into an AI file, we have to do so using the File->Place menu with Options checked. It would be nice to be able to simply drag the PDF onto the AI document and have the option dialog open so we can choose which page to place.

Make Asset Export settings Per-Project not Global
It doesn't make sense to have global settings for Asset Export, as the exporting requirements vary between projects. Each project should have its own Asset Export settings so this doesn't have to be set up every time when exporting from different projects with different settings.
Changing back and forward is time consuming and error prone.

Open an InDesign file in Illustrator
Need to be able to open an Indesign file directly in AI. No reason to go to pdf and totally destroy the artwork. files are uneditable converting from Id to PDF to AI.

Slices
I have created a logo and it saves in slices, and at one point in it's own folder, which I didn't ask it to do, I don't want that. Also the Illustrator program is to big, it falls off the screen at times and Photoshop is to small, I need a magnifying glass can they both be fixed so they can fit properly on the screen. Also now and then all the colors in swatch window disappears.

Allow to choose file version when saving AIT templates
One of our designers still use old version of AI.
We need to share newly created templates (.ait) with her.
But AI doesn't give options when saving templates!
So I'm forced to save to .ai first, choose CS6 version and then change extension by hand. Why can't I see same options for templates?

Multiple Artboard Save
Some older versions of AI does not show multiple artboards. When doing a save could there be the option for artboards like when SVG is selected.

Automatic "Generate assets" option like in Photoshop
Photoshop's "Generate assets" workflow is a godsend, and it would be just as amazing to have something similar in Illustrator.
Adding an extension to the name of an artboard or layer (.png, .jpg, etc) and have it automatically export would be incredible, especially when working with a dozen artboards that need to be exported every time there's an amend (for icon libraries, banners, etc).

UNSAVED DOCUMENT ASTERISK - *
Sometimes we need to know if we changed a document, or if something moved without us realizing it. And the only way to know is to look at that tiny asterisk next to the document file name to see if it was modified.
My idea is to make that asterisk a little bit bigger, so people can easily spot it. I am attaching a screenshot with a rough concept.

A View Only Capability after free trial ends
It's basically a "view only" section for students after their trial has expired who have already created items in Illustrator and have to double check something or just review what they've already created esp. those who may not be able to afford the full version of Illustrator.
It'd be nice to have a "view only" section after students' free trials expire. Example: some softwares have a "read only" section where students can't edit work, but they can at least view it.
