Unembed JPEGs & PNGs
Please return the feature from the older versions that lets you unembed JPEGs & PNGs. I hate that it's only possible to do with TIFFs and PSDs now. It's such a pain when you're trying to reduce the file size.

Colors: bring existing color to front
I ran into this so many times: I want to change an element with a colored fill, go to the color palette hit the new color and boom: I have an outline because I forgot to switch to fill. So I need to delete that outline, swap from outline to fill color and do what I initially wanted: Change the fill color. WHY does Illustrator not automatically bring the color to front that already exists on an element? If an element only has a fill, bring the fill to front upon selction. Rotation and reflection when selecting an object
When I have an object selected (left mouse is pressed down), I want to press the space bar to rotate it. This might rotate anticlockwise by 90° (so I would press the space bar three times to rotate the object clockwise by 90°). You could make the rotation angle 45° to be aligned with rotating and holding the shift key.
Also, while the object is again selected, if I press the X key, the object is reflected horizontally; pressing the Y key reflects it vertically.

Bring Radial, Mirror, Grid Repeats to Desktop Illustrator
We saw the radial pattern repeat function for the iPad version of Illustrator at MAX 2019, please bring this to the desktop version.

There are some improvements still to be made, and the team is aware of some of them.

Display Animated GIFs while designing
I am a video editor so many of the things I design involve animated GIFs. It would be incredible to have a display option to see GIFs play inside of a document, to help design layout.

Pin valuable layers to top of layer stack
Being able to pin a certain layers which I use alot to the top of the stack would be useful to me. Would save scrolling to find those layers.
When new layers are created, pinned layers would still appear at the top. 😁

Add more Live Shape Presets
Please add shape presets for common shapes such as donuts, pies, tear-shapes, double stars (stars with two different lengths of points), square stars, cloud shapes, trapezoids, double arrows, cogs, and crescents. This would streamline the process of creating flat vector icons if there were shape presets for these common shapes. The idea would be to add adjustable anchor points to preset versions of the shapes mentioned above that the user could adjust in the menu or control panel. Cloud file Versioning
I know this would be a huge lift, but cloud file versioning would be great. Beyond the obvious workflow advantages, it could facilitate working with cloud documents offline and syncing later without risking clobbering what's in there or attempting any sort of complex and error-prone diffing process.

I want simple features like "path-continuation" or a simple way to color shapes that were made by paths.
Okay im super new to Illustrator and just got kind of used to Photoshop but now I try to make some stuff with Illustrator and run in constant issues.
I actually spent more time looking up extremely basic things that should simply work but are hidden somewhere or not possible? in Illustrator than I got to work on the things I tried to make.
For example I created a detailed image with thousands of paths, tried to fit it into After Effects for an animation just to find out its much to bright. I went back to Illustrator and found…2 votes -
Allow to filter files in Recent menu/section to include only AI documents and exclude chosen formats like PDF, JPEG, TIFF, Save a Copy, etc.
RECENT FILES SHOULD IDEALLY BE ONLY AI DOCUMENTS.
If I have exported say 10 jpgs in my previous session, on start-up my RECENT FILES is over-run with those JPG file names. They all have the same thumbnail too. That's outrageous!

Export artboards with the correct sequential order
I am creating multiple page presentations and often I have to insert or move artboards. When I export the artboards to JPG or PNG they are named after their original artboard number which creates a lot of extra work for me.
3 votesIllustrator uses the actual order of artboards in the Artboards panel for numbering, not the one you have on canvas (because artboards can be used not only as pages, but viewports, intersect and contain each other). To get the order you need, you should re-arrange the list manually in the panel.

Automatic stroke manipulation based on the depth of geometry
It has been quite time-consuming when producing architecture line drawing representations. The depth of an object is represented through the different stroke weights. Every time I have to modify the stroke weights manually (i.e. perspective representation, the closer visual depth the objects have, the thicker stroke weights they have, vice versa) I expect illustrator can update this ability to automatically compute the visual depth of objects and adjust stroke weights of every geometric edges based on the rule of perspective representation! That could save life of many architecture students!

Ability to temporarily flip canvas horizontally (mirror view) for design checking
For illustrative purposes, it would be really handy to be able to temporarily flip the canvas horizontally as if in a mirrored reflection.
You would instantly see slight imperfections in a design in this new angle that was not previously noticeable due to one's specific viewpoint.
A lot of graphic programs do this to allow scrutiny from an alternate angle. InDesign and Photoshop do this already of course.

AutoCAD DWG support on Illustrator Silicon
To import DWG (any version) into Apple Silicon Illustrator. The current version 25.3 is no longer compatible. This is a critical missing import ability.
