Selection tool Problem when trying to click and move something.
Cannot drag or move the shapes and lines that i have been drawn when using the selection too and giving an irritating sound.

A back button on the Save & Export windows
Often when saving/exporting a file from illustrator i'll move through the various steps; naming the file, choosing a location, adjusting the settings etc, then just as i go to hit 'ok' on the final window i'll realise i forgot to adjust a setting in an earlier window and so am forced to hit the cancel button and start the saving process again.
Obviously its not a huge issue but it would save a little time and frustration if you could just click a back button rather than having to start over.2 votes -
Save for Web
The new and NOT IMPROVED Illustrator does not allow me to save gifs and jpegs for the web. I used this feature all time since I design web banners - and now it's gone! Thanks for nothing, Adobe!

Adobe have to improve the SVG exportation tool
Adobe have to improve the SVG tool, because we need to create new document to be able export SVG CODE directly from Illustrator file...
Will be better, if we colect files to export, and on this function, be able to export not just SVG file, but also the SVG code, to use diretly on CSS and HTML.
Will be a great help to web designers.

Resurrect Macromedia Freehand
Or at least study its superior usability and intuitiveness and adopt these features in Illustrator.
Or, at the VERY least, build in the ability to open old Freehand files in Illustrator.

Adjusting the curve of the "type on the path" and be able to keep the type from distorting
This was actually a feature that USED to work on previous illustrators, since this month's update (October 2018), it stopped working. Basically, you make a circle shape, then you type on a path. But sometimes you want to be able to adjust/transform the curve (while keeping the Type same size and proportion) to see how it would lay without distorting the type. *Not the same as holding shift because that just keeps the curve the same shape, and it also make the type bigger or smaller. Grid or Guides Calculator
Have a make grid or guides feature with a grid calculator that was artboard dependant.
- as in I could have different grids on different artboards
- proportional grids
- vertical grids and guides as well as horizontal
The amount of time I take having to set up grids, by drawing boxes and dragging in guides, to do my layout is enormous.
It is such a fundamental part of graphic design, I feel like it should really be embedded in illustrator. I have noticed that the new Photoshop has it. Also indesign has it. But really i need it more in illustrator.

After all Photoshop and Illustrator belong to the same family, So at-least we users expect this little ability to have this ease of use.

New version change over
New versions, NOT new name. Drop the year add-on. Just ask to overwrite existing app version. I use overflow to start up my apps, not the Adobe menu. By adding a new app name AND deleting the old one you BREAK ALL my links to ***** up my workflow.
Also, import to the new version ALL MY TEMPLATES. You created significant work for me to go an find the old templates and then get them into 2018
Most importantly: Send some of your engineers out to see people use your products in the real world that is NOT web design…

2018CC version Preferences - Units go back to "points"
Preferences Units go back to "points" even after I change it to "millimetres" on 2018CC version. I go to Units (no document open) and change from default POINTS to "mm". When I open a new document it is reading POINTS again!

Option to put Properties Panel at the top of the workspace.
For those of us who find it more convenient for the Properties to be at the top of our workspace, we should be able to click and drag the properties panel into the default space along the top of the window.

Add a window where I can search a feature, window, or command that exists in the program.

Better join segments tool
There are instances (mostly when cleaning up DXF files from 3D models) were there are a lot of broken line segments. It would be great if there were options for the join command to join multiple line segments that are within a certain distance and tangent angle to each other. It would then take multiple separate line segments and join them into one clean and continuous line.
Maybe there would also be a preview ability that would recolor\highlight the lines that would be joined and then allow you to adjust the distance and angle until you get the desired result.

Make the new "Properties" panel optional.
The idea of the properties panel is nice, but it should be customizable. For example, the four pathfinder tools that come up when more than one object is selected aren't the main four that I use, so it would be nice to be able to switch out the default four that pop up.
It would also be nice if there were a way to not use the new properties panel, and be able to switch in the windows drop down menu to using the old properties panel that is in the top bar across the screen. I don't love the…

If you want to switch the older control panel you can do that in 2 ways:
1. Go to Window > Control and the control panel will be shown.
2. Go to Workspaces and switch to Essential Classic, this will also show the Control panel on the top.Thanks & Regards

"Replace" automatically selected
Everytime I place an image I have to check if "replace" is clicked. If I have a picture selected and then "place", it means I want to replace it. Please fix this, it's very annoying and have been there for ages.

Used to be able to resize text back to 100% in a group after stretching it horizontally or vertically.
After stretching a group horizontally or vertically, you used to be able to resize the text back to 100% (aka, revert the weird text stretching while keeping all the objects grouped together). This option seems to be missing after the Ai update! Please give it back!

When embedding images flatten all images option without having to scroll through each one
When embedding my links to go to press I have multiple links and it is redundant to ask everytime if I want to flatten each image one by one. There should be an option to flatten all highlighted images in one shot. If I have 70 documents to go to press with 30 links each it can get very time consuming.

Typography Swapping Window (just like “Recolor Artwork”
I use Edit>Edit Colors>Recolor Artwork so very often that I have replaced the “Rulers” keyboard shortcut with “Recolor Artwork.”
“Character Styles” and “Paragraph Styles” are invaluable tools, but I REALLY would love to have a dialogue box identical to that of “Recolor Artwork,” except for swapping & changing type, character & paragraph rules/styles. If necessary, I can create a mockup of the UI that I have in my head for this, but I’m not planning to, unless it is necessary.

Find color in artwork
Sometimes I have a stray color that I cannot find in the artwork. It would be nice if there was a way I could click on the swatch and say find color and it would highlight everything that color was used on.
