1. Highlighted cursor markers on rulers

   I would love to see an option to enable a highlighted cursor marker on the ruler. To explain what I mean by cursor marker, I mean the small, light gray line that follows where your cursor is along the x and y ruler. This light gray line is very hard to distinguish its exact position against the background ruler markers, since there is literally no contrast between them. I would love to see an option to change it to any of the system swatches.

2. Color themes scroll bar

   The Color Themes panel in Illustrator does not have a scroll bar. I am using a Wacom tablet, but the Color Themes panel does not scroll even when I have assigned the function "scroll" to its scroll bar. I can scroll in other applications, both Adobe and others, so it doesn't seem like the fault of the tablet or tablet driver. The fact that there is no scroll bar in the default UI so it can be used with any input device is a glaring oversight. The panel is nearly useless without one.

3. Convert text to outlines on open

   If fonts are missing on open, give the option to expand/convert to outlines. I work in the sign industry, It is a huge hassle to contact customers to have them convert it and re-send it. They frequently don't know how/didn't make the artwork to begin with. I typically get around this using acrobat watermark trick, but it's very time consuming. We have over 6,000 fonts, and we still have missing fonts all the time.

4. Randomizer

   We've all come across a time when we needed to repeat an element, but it needs to be transformed slightly different in each instance, whether that be position, rotation, reflection, scale or shearing. So, I propose a randomizing tool/function that you could use to make that happen. First you draw the elements you wanted to be randomly affected, then draw a shape to enclose them all. Select "Randomize" and they become something like a group.. You select one, and they're all selected. You could transform one, and the amount that you transformed it would be the limit any of them could be transformed.

   So, if you had 20 circles and you wanted them all to be slightly sized differently, you could Randomize them all, then select the "group" and transform the scale to increase to 105%. This would make them increase anywhere from 100.00% to 105.00%, since they're already at 100%

   It would be fun and useful!

5. Locked files on SMB shares (macOS)

   There is a weird file-locking problem when files are opened and saved from/to smb volumes mounted on macOS. If files are saved and closed there is still a locking on the files. So colegues are not able to delete/replace this files. There is no problem if the afp-protocol is used. For this reason we had to disable smb-sharing on our server, because macOS uses smb as default if available. (Illustrator 21.1.0 - but at least from version 19 on)

6. Distribute in patterns

   I want the pattern to be able to connect more to the resulting repeat. With that I mean for example this.
   1) If I draw a line freehand, from left to right. Then I would like to be able to make a seamless repeat of that line. So at the right I can "connect" to the left end and join/smooth it together
   2) If I want 4 similar/identical things spaced evenly and repeated. Then I can distribute the group to space it evenly. But on the left and right side (or top/bottom) how do this spacing between the items gets the same as the spacing to the next repeat on the ends? I would like to distribute, not only between the objects within my tile, but also that I get the same distance to the next tile when repeated. To do this it must be some connection to the resulting pattern.
   These are just a few examples around this.

7. Support layers in patterns

   I want to be able to make patterns in layers. So if I use layers when I make a pattern, then I get a pattern that is editable in layers. It would save much time if you want to make variations.

9. Customizable zoom levels for mouse wheel zoom

   The current mouse wheel zoom (ALT + wheel) only navigates between zoom presets, making it incredibly difficult to use since the scale factor only doubles/halves most of the time. This is especially true when using touch mouse wheels (e.g., Microsoft surface mouse).

   A setting that switches between this mode and a finer grain zoom (e.g., +/- 10% of current, possibly user-preference defined) would make this much more useful.

11. assign key short cuts to change Constrain angle in prefs

    I would like to see access to Doc prefs via short cuts / actions. So for example when i press F3 i change constrain angle to 30 degrees. Currently use a keyboard macro make for this but its not very good. In general if we could access more things via shortcuts and actions it would make work flows more efficient.

    You can adjust spacing between a selection of characters with a hotkey Cmd/Ctrl + Opt/Alt + K (which focuses the input) and then Arrow keys.

14. Center Pattern Command & Center both axis to align palette

    Draw a vector shape and fill with a pattern, notice this is not centered. To do this is a long meticulous process prone to error.

15. Bulleted and Numbered lists (like InDesign)

    This would be a quick easy way to format a paragraph where each paragraph return becomes a bullet or numbered/lettered list item.

    Numbers in numbered lists would be updated automatically when you add or remove paragraphs in the list. Bullets would also flow accordingly when edited.

    InDesign has both a "Bulleted List button" and "Numbered List button" in the Control Panel and if these features were added to Illustrator they would be very popular.

    I am happy to share that we have shipped the Bullets and Numbering in 26.4 update for Illustrator. It’s a phased rollout so you may not see 26.4 update yet but it would rollout globally in a day or two.

16. Keep items selectioned/highlighted visually apparent for efficient editing/manipulating

    In CC2017 the element(s) highlighted do not remain “visually” highlighted, nor do the guides. I can highlight several thing — text, boxes, guide — and I want to be able to see what is highlighted and move them with my arrow keys. It’s very disconcerting to use the direct selection tool, click on something (highlight it) and when I ,move away from that item it no longer looks visually highlighted. When I am working on complex charts/graphs/figures I need to be able to see everything I highlighted/selected as I am moving or editing them.

19. Import SVG fill-rule="evenodd"

    This is a major problem for having SVG look correct.

    Please import fill-rule="evenodd" properly. Test case of an "O" that imports incorrectly (as fill-rule="nonzero") without the hole in the middle. Illustrator gets this wrong, but XD imports it properly. Some additional issues:

    1. Ref-ing the same mask crashes Illustrator.
    2. Nested masks don't import properly.
    3. Gradient and image transforms and patterns (fit/fill/tile) don't import

20. Import SVG masks without crashing

    Illustrator app crashes when an SVG mask is referenced more than once. This has been in successive releases of Illustrator. Also nested masks aren't supported either.
