  1. Curvature Combs and Tunni lines

    Two ideas, both aimed at creating smoother curves:

    1. curvature combs:
      an additional visual aid that could be enabled/disabled via hotkey or option on a panel that assists the artist/user in evaluating whether a curve is continuously smooth, or whether it needs adjustment. See this blog for a quick coded breakdown:

  2. Is there an option to set single keys and function keys as hotkeys?

    Is there an option to set single keys and function keys as hotkeys?

    I'm used to another vector drawing program in conjunction with Illustrator and that program has some very easy to use hotkeys that are essential for shape alignments, like C for horizontal centering, E for vertical centering, B for bottom of a shape and T for top, etc. On Illustrator I can't set a single keyboard key as a hotkey for the alignment functions without the use of Ctrl or Shift before the key. That's just a no go for me.

  3. How to select non filled shapes just by clicking on their surface?

    How can I select a shape/object without a fill just by clicking on its surface?
    I don't want to click on the stroke, since that's slower and less practical than clicking on the middle of the shape, I don't want to click on layers nor any slower way to do it.

    If what I want is not possible, then that would be a very clear sign that Adobe is very, VERY stubborn against selecting by clicking on the middle of the shapes, for no reason at all, since there's no problem in putting an option for it on the settings…

  4. Ignore commas in graph data

    I create regional reports with a lot of data visualization, so I copy and paste from excel and google sheets all the time. The amount of time I spend removing commas from each number over 999 while creating graphs is wild. I'm working on finding better workflows for this, but if you could just make commas invisible or intelligible to the data window in Illustrator, I would be so happy!

  5. Consider a document as 'unsaved' (dirty) when a linked image gets updated

    Illustrator think that updating a link is not an operation.
    This leads to problems with documents that use PDF-compatibility option.

    Imagine you have an already saved document that have some linked images in it. You open it in Ai and then Edit a linked image in Photoshop. Make some changes in the image, save them in Ps, go to Ai and agree to update the link...

    But Ai still considers the document as non-'dirty', as if no changes were made.

  6. A Dashed Line tool

    I have seen a few plugins (Nudge, WidthScribe) do things with dashes that suggest there is room for a lot more dashes on a stroke than the three repeating dash/gap entries the Stroke panel lets me create.

    I would like an interactive, on-canvas tool that lets me drag dashes, gaps, and their endpoints around on a selected path. Being able to create and delete dashes/gaps would be nice, too.

  7. Selection and zoom marquees should be able to be displayed orthogonally when a view is rotated

    When dragging out a selection marquee on a rotated canvas with either of the Selection tools, the marquee is drawn aligned to the canvas instead of the screen.

    The actual selection seems to be done in screen space - see the two attached screenshots, where my marquee was dragged from the lower left point of the marquee to the upper right, resulting in a displayed marquee that would select the sketch of hair above the eye, and an actual selection that only contains parts of the paths in the eye.

    The expected behavior would be that the marquee was drawn…

  8. Basic touchpad functionality on Windows

    As someone who just switched from Mac to Windows, it's incredibly frustrating not to be able to zoom with a pinch or even to scroll diagonally.

  9. Connect/weld/glue points to another point/path

    It whould help a lot if we can weld three or more ponits on illustrator and if a path can be welded on the middle of another line

  10. Zoom factor that shows all artboards

    I'd like to have an additional zoom factor in the zoom drop down field that says "All artboards" that zooms out so far that all artboards are visible.

    Have an align to bleed option, anything going to print generally has a 3mm bleed and it would be handy to bet things to align to this instead of the edge of the artboard.

  13. 맥 버전에서도 윈도우버전과 같은 단축키를 쓸 수 있게 부탁드립니다.

    윈도우 버전에서는 알트 키를 이용해 메뉴에 접근하고 주요 메뉴는 연속된 키 입력으로 접근이 가능합니다. 예를 들어 문자 전체 선택을 하기 위해서는 알트 sop를 누르면 됩니다. 이러한 방법이 맥 버전에서는 불가능해 너무 불편합니다. 동일한 방식으로 단축키를 사용할 수 있도록 업데이트 부탁드립니다.

  14. 한국어로도 단축키가 되도록 부탁합니다.

    한국어 버전으로 작업을 할 때 언어가 한국어로 선택되어 있으면 단축키가 작동하지 않습니다. 다른 어도비 프로그램 중에는 한국어로도 단축키를 설정할 수 있는 것이 있습니다. 일러스트레이터도 한국어로 지정되어 있을 때도 단축키가 적용될 수 있길 부탁드립니다.

  15. Keeping corner points while dragging an arc.

    When I have an arc that has a corner point at one end, dragging the arc changes the line to an unwanted shape even when "Constrain Path Dragging" is turned on in settings. I ALWAYS need those corner points to remain corner points.

    I suggest using the SHIFT key to keep them as corners.

    Many versions ago (late 80s, early 90s), corner points always remained corner points, and I liked it that way very much!! : ) It made my job so much easier. Since then paths have been a real hassle.

  16. Cut-off of Effects like Drop Shadow etc

    Working with Flexo plates, we need to cut-off vignettes at 3%, it would be great to have an 'Advanced' section on effects like Drop Shadow to cut off at a stated percentage. Currently have to work around by Expanding the effect, exporting an the image for Photoshop, using the Curves to cut-off of 3%, then relinking the image in Illustrator which also means having multiple files...

  17. LTR Digits for Middle East Settings

    In Arabic text, letters are RTL, but digits are LTR. There's no way to use multiple character styles within one paragraph, you can only set the text direction to the entire paragraph. To make the attached, I had to set the language of the digits to English and type the number in backwards (e.g. for 300g, I have typed it in as 003 for it to show like that, which requires a lot of concentration!!)

  19. Make Appearance work for Type objects

    More specifically, with type objects, the Appearance palette just says 'Characters', without reflecting the current stroke and fill state of the object. New stroke and fill have to be added to make the Appearance palette useful.
