  1. Restoring the CAD tree-view when importing DXF files.

    Before version 25.1, when importing DXF files created with a CAD software (Solid Edge), each part of an assembly was recognized by Illustrator (1 part = 1 layer).
    This is not the case anymore since version 25.1. The last version in which it works is version 25.0.1

  2. Keyboard shortcut for group selection tool

    "A" gives us the direct selection tool Could we have a keyboard shortcut for the group selection tool please? (Or press A a second time, toggling between the two selectors?). Many thanks.

  3. Bring back colour themes!

    Colour themes within Illustrator was awesome! Why remove it, it's terrible in the CC app, and slows down workflow.

    It was a nice try, but cut the loss, bring colour themes back and kill it in the stupid CC app (also, kill the CC app, it's useless).

  4. Enable Content Aware Defaults is an All or Nothing option: split it

    Checking the Enable Content Aware Defaults option in Preferences controls 3 features: Crop Image, Puppet Warp and Freeform Gradient. It would be nice to be able to turn them on/off individually. Now it is all or nothing.

  6. Jumble Characters Option

    I would love a feature where you could jumble characters in a text box to simulate what you see in many Children's based design elements of titles and such. Currently you have to outline your text and then start manually turning your letters slightly while pushing and pulling your kerning/spacing and baselines. Possibly three options; rotate clockwise, counter-clockwise and random with sliding scales for how extreme to turn them.

  7. Blending modes respecting self intersecting strokes

    When drawing with a real marker, overlapping strokes are darker than single strokes.
    I would like Illustrator to have the option to mimic this when using strokes in Multiply mode. It works with to separate paths, but not with self intersecting paths,

    Compare left and right in the image.

  8. Change behavior of scrolling out of bounds or overlapping panels

    When dragging an element to the page or screen edge, the scrolling rate goes from 10px/second to 1000 and you spend most of your time trying to figure out how to go back far enough but not too far. If you go too far, you scroll 1000px in the other direction. All while you are holding a bunch of important elements that you don't want to release. It's unnerving and makes no sense. Make the scroll rate consistent even when scrolling out of bounds. Either that or don't let us scroll further our of bounds than the width or height…

  9. Put Tool Options in a Panel

    Put all Tool Options into a panel instead of a modal dialog. Stop interrupting workflow to get settings that could easily be encapsulated into a panel.

    Also, quit with the 50 different ways of asking the same thing. The blob tool, warp tool, any brush tool all use different ways of getting at the same setting:

    Brush Size, Brush Shape, Brush Angle, Brush Roundness, Intensity Pick the best one and stick with it in all the tool settings.

  10. Open Library file

    It would be great if the initial Illustrator screen included an "open from Library" option. This may already be there but if it is, it was not obvious enough for me to find 😬. I often want to edit or open library assets and I think it would be great if I didn't have to create a new file in order to be able to open library items.

  11. Remove the 'Drawing Area' (dark grey area behind artboards)

    The 'drawing area' behind artboards limits where you can place items (especially masked items that fall off this area), it limits the number of artboards, and limits how freely and where I can place multiple artboards. It also has no purpose at all as far as I can see.

  12. Record OK button in Actions

    In my action I need to confirm a dialog manually all the time. Can't figure out how to get the robot to click 'OK'.

  13. Try to Eliminate Modal Dialogs

    There are entirely too many Modal dialog boxes in Illustrator. It would be nice if there were none. Everything that currently pops up and steals focus (completely obscuring everything behind it) should be done in a "settings panel" that can be opened or closed as necessary.

    For example, there is nothing so urgent about the line tool that it should require a modal dialog box to open. If I want to configure the settings, they should appear in a panel called "settings" and I should be able to change them easily without having to stop everything, fill out the form,…

  14. Automatic Saves and Back Ups

    Softwares like Ableton, particularly Ableton, provide an automatic save feature, multiple back ups, as well as allow you to restore your work if your software crashes. Additionally, you can "Collect All and Save" and the program collects all the project files and organizes them within the project folder where you will never lose them as long as you have the folder and no longer have the issue of missing files. I believe that this system should be adopted by Adobe as this would save countless hours and lost progress for its users. Thank you.

  15. Make Isolate Selected Object work with text (point, area, on path)

    Ai does not allow to isolate a text object.
    We can workaround it by grouping it first, isolating, selecting all and ungrouping — but why execute these many useless operation instead of one?
    Please make it possible.

  16. Make Align and Distbute work for direct selected Paths

    When subPaths of groups are selected, Align or Distribute works on the complete group, where we expect to work on the selection.

  17. Allow eyedropper to ignore locked layers.

    Allowing the eyedropper to optionally ignore the contents of locked layers would be very useful. Having a locked layer with transparency above an active layer and trying to sample a line weight, only to sample the fill or other attributes of a transparent object that you're working "through" is very frustrating.

  18. Background Export (not save)

    Ai now can save documents in background (partially, but still) — it saves a lot of time.
    InDesign, on the other hand, can export in background (well, some file types).

    What if exporting process go in background too, leaving Ai unlocked?

    いつもパネルがどこかに隠れます。 ツールボックスからもアクセスできるように。 たとえば文字ツールを長押しすると文字パネルへのリンクを表示、ペンツールを長押しすると線設定パネルへのリンク表示など

  20. Show Smart guides when using Curvature Tool

    When using the curvature tool to creat a symmetric curve, it would be nice when smart guides (to the center) are shown.
