  1. Add Search in Preferences and make them user friendly

    These are various recommendation to simplify preferences in all Adobe Applications.

    • list groupings (ie General, Type, etc.) in alphabetical order
    • or list groupings in logical order
    example for the first three - General, User Interface, Performance...
    • re-review all preference settings and reduce or simplify (Slices has two option?)
    • incorporate a search function to provide the user the ability to quickly locate a specific preference (refer to Apple's System Preferences Search capability.)
    • make preference category lists universal in title and order for all Adobe applications when possible

  2. Better options to layout and save button mode in actions

    Allow editing of multiple actions at once: eg shift select a group of actions, go to action settings and set the colour for all. Allow separators in button mode.
    This would help me as I have a large number of actions, grouped by the type of illustration I am working on. I usually work in button mode, so segregating by colour allows my to identify actions quickly. If I have to reset my preferences, or reload group actions, it can take nearly an hour to set this up.

  3. Make the Templates folder write enabled

    Can't save Template, due to permissions of the folder.
    Please make that work by default (MacOS Catalina).

  4. Allow font size, leading to be blank in paragraph & character styles (as in InDesign).

    In InDesign, you can leave the font size of a paragraph or character style blank, allowing you to apply a style while preserving the font size that's already set (critical for different sized documents). In Illustrator, while you can create a style with a blank size, it automatically reverts to 12pt.

  5. your default workspace is completely off point of the tools illustrators need close at hand

    hey, folks, I've been using Illustrator continuously (and intensely) since 1987. Every time I make a transition to a new Mac and load a fresh copy of the Creative Suite, I'm frustrated by the task of rebuilding the essential palette of tools that need to be close at hand in Illy for max productivity — color, stroke, character, align + pathfinder, layers . . . your out-of-the-box defaults have it all wrong. Makes me wonder: do any of you people actually use this product for making stuff in the day to day? And good god, please stop with the scrubby…

  6. Drag a layer onto the Library panel

    After converting an image to outlines with Image Trace then expanding it I wanted to drag this onto the library... it did not let me.

    I would assume the same functionality as copy and paste into Photoshop when when I drag it on the library it would ask if i want it to be smart object, or bitmap etc..

  9. Create a Collapse All Layers button (with an assignable hotkey)

    Currently you can collapse (or expand) all sub containers by Alt key clicking on the little arrowheads on the left-hand side of the top level container items. It would be great if we had a button we could click that collapses (or expands) everything.

    Bonus points if this could be called by an action or script!

  11. Tie a child shape to parent shape to keep it aligned to parent when resized

    Hi everyone,

    I posted this as a question in the Illustrator forum (here's the original thread https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/set-shapes-as-child-and-parent-objects-for-dynamic-box-designs/m-p/11688904?page=1#M256580) and was suggested to submit this as a feature request here.

    I design boxes in Illustrator for precise cutting in my Silhouette machine. The main problem I encounter with is when I make a box which its shapes are all perfectly aligned, but I then find that I need to tweak its interior size. When I'm doing so I have to re-align all the different pieces of the box shapes such as the spines, wings, etc, since there's no option to tie…

  12. Unlock individual items

    Please add the ability to unlock individual items (instead of having to unlock all, then relock all but the one you need). We've been working around this for years, so when I noticed it was available in XD, I thought I'd ask for it to available in Illustrator

    Illustrator allows to unlock individual objects on canvas, if you enable 'Select and Unlock object on Canvas' option in Preferences, Selection & Anchor Display section.

    Also, you can right click on the spot that has your locked object, choose Unlock and then this item by its name, without enabling that option.

  13. Allow scroll to zoom in the navigation area

    I have zoom to scroll turned on in the settings but we can't zoom to scroll in the navigation area just the main window. Can you please fix this? Allowing people to choose which way they scroll to zoom in or out would also be nice for accessibility.

  14. The Named Views feature should be expanded for more names, listed alphabetically, and be more easily editable..

    The Named Views feature is under developed. It is useful for complex drawings with several Artboards and many layers. Its functionality can include several categories of the Illustrator program. Attached is a file with several points of improvement.

  16. File > Rename command

    If you saved your file with a typo and want to fix it or to change name in general, you have to save, close, go to the file manager, find the file, rename (and hope Ai has not it locked), open it back (and then have an invalid item in File > Recent).

    It would be so much easier to have a dedicated command for it.

  17. clipping mask broken in illustrator 25.1 update

    When working with clipping masks there is a bug where clipping mask doesn't show up until you select and unselect the clip option.

  18. ability to escape when Illustrator "hangs"

    Please give one the ability to get out of a "hang" without force quitting the app. Escape key would be a great place!

  19. Transform Coordinates - "Copy" and "Paste" buttons with specific order

    We need the possibility of copying the X/Y/Angle/W/H/Shear parameters when selecting a Source shape and paste them in the Transform panel when selecting the Destination shape.
    I recommend always angle is first when pasting, before X/Y/W/H/Shear.
    It is quite strange that since all of these CC iterations, this has never been covered. It is quite awqward to introduce numbers and many decimals by hand and not having a possibility to do it quickly.
