  1. Snapping unexpectedly disabled when drawing to an Artboard edge

When using the rectangle tool or other drawing tools, you can snap to the edge of an artboard, but you cannot snap to grid lines that intersect with the artboard edge.

This makes things complicated if you are designing relative to the artboard all the time with Snap to Grid or Snap to Pixel enabled. I have to workaround it, snapping inside or outside the artboard edge first, then moving the point an exact increment to match where the artboard edge and grid line intersect.

Notice that in my screen recording, this happens even at the beginning when I first…

  2. Repeating pattern random recolor art

The merger of Recolor Art and the idea of variations in the context of repeating patterns. The Recolor Art needs a slot like interface where the user can store several variations on a theme into 'alt slots' these could be accessed by the repeating pattern algorithm to generate a more diverse result. Perhaps with variations on size and rotation of the constituent elements.

  3. Smart Object like in Photoshop

Smart object for illustrator will be a nice feature. Also it will be awesome if both photoshop and illustrator can work with smart object. Currently, photoshop can handle (automatically convert files to smart object when placed, imported, copied in photoshop) vector/raster objects copied from illustrator document. But for some reason, illustrator doesn't have that feature. Would love to see smart objects/group in illustrator.

    Thank you Adobe.

  4. Turn Off Typographers Quotes - Always Off & Stay Off - Forever Off

Hello I use Illustrator for about 85% of my work.
Primarily I'm doing UI Design and Planning Documents - this work is 100% online there is no print work.

Typographers Quotes are a terrible thing for this workflow. The quotes are always messed up, it's always a ton of clicking to get rid of them and you have to do it a million times over every time you make a new document.

Also Typographers quotes means you can't rough out ideas around code in Illustrator because it a copy/paste mess.

The request is to have a setting as part of…

  5. Trim view stops working when artboards are hidden

When you hide artboards, Trim View stops working. Some times I hide artboards because it removes the border created by the artboards. A borderless artboard is more true to what the final export/print will look like. But when I hide the artboards, the trim view is disabled. Please bring back trim view even though artboards are hidden!
    Thanks.

  6. Trim paths

Like in After Effects the option to trim a line. When you have an extra line on an object, the one above can be trimmed. Ending with a line with two color ends.
No more stacking multiple lines and having to edit them all if the shape changes.

  7. Customize Preset Stroke Weight

Not sure if this is in the right category but I would like the ability to preset the stroke weight to something smaller (or bigger) than 1px. If I'm using the pen tool for multiple things I find that the stroke weight of 1px can be too heavy & I can't see what I'm outlining in the fine detail I require because the stroke is so big, so I was wondering if there was a way to set it in the preferences window so that every time I created a shape or path with the pen tool the stroke weight…

  8. Show gridlines in outline view

If "Show Grid" is activated, in Outline View, the grid is mostly invisible. It only leaves very subtle dotted lines along the major grid lines, but the subdivision grid lines aren't visible.

It would be nice to see some faint lines of the subdivision grid lines in outline view so when I'm zooming in very close, those lines don't disappear.

  10. Find and Replace text across open files

Find and replace text across all open files, a timesaving function that's been part of InDesign for a long time.

  12. Shortcut button for stroke width.

Why has there never been a shortcut for stroke width? For illustrators, this is a command done so often, that's it's a bit of a burden not having this as an option.

And I mean for strokes that are selected, after being drawn out already, not for the brush itself.

  13. Integrate Photoshop brushes in Illustrator

It would be awesome if we could use Photoshop brushes in Illustrator. I spent at least an hour looking for a teardrop/raindrop brush for illustrator but couldn't find one.

  14. Guide Colors to match Layer Colors

Guides are already assigned to different layers. When a layer is locked, that guide is locked, even if you "Unlock Guides".

It would make a lot of sense, and be very helpful, if guides were the same color as the layer they are attached to.

I run into many instances when guides are very close to each other and I'm not sure which guide I should be trying to align to, so I have to take the time to figure it out. It gets frustrating quickly, especially when trying to edit multiple layers together. If guides were the same color…

  15. Discounts for Senior Citizens

Adobe, I hope you read this, I was pointed here... I don't feel this is the correct place, but here I am. You have made Millions in Revenue in your last quarters and it would be really nice if you gave back to the folks that didn't have an income that still supported you! Seniors should get discounts along the lines of college students. Universities let them come to classes for free... While I am not asking or suggesting this, I do think that it is time you think about this as a Company.

  16. Area and perimeter information on every selected object

Area and perimeter information on every selected object.
It was available on CS3 version for exemple and it was very helpful for us architects.
The window was called CAD tracker and the geometry part was super practical.
Please, include it in the new version !!

The team has started working on this request. As a first step they want to understand the requirements correctly and build the right feature set based on the feedback gathered.

If you are willing to discuss area calculation in a call session, block a time slot here: https://outlook.office.com/bookwithme/user/c1b7ecea1cbd42a2a7068cfeb7861bdd@adobe.com/meetingtype/Fn8tXNebh0eyv4xTnvQ-3Q2?anonymous&ep=mlink

  17. Allow adjustments to the path curves of a Freeform gradient line, please.

Please allow adjustments to the path curves of a Freeform gradient line, like handles.

Right now all that is allowed, is to add more points along the path, and the ability to move those points around, and the path/curves move automatically based up the shape of the object.

Please add selection point handles, so we can edit and adjust the curves of the line.

  18. Ability to link SVG for datasets

When using variables in Illustrator, you're able to set an image as a dynamic object, so long as it's linked (File > Place, then check Link), as opposed to embedded. This means that I can't set SVGs as variables, since they can't be linked, and have to convert them into images in order to do so.

  19. Image Trace options

I’ve been an Adobe user for over 20 years. I used to love using Streamline to convert raster to vector and then make adjustments to the levels before going to the direct select tool for further adjustments. I suggest adding in the adjustment/level options to Image Trace as Streamline used to have rather than just default vectorizing of images. Please do this. I’ve been meaning to suggest this for years. Thanks!

  20. "EmojiOne Color" font in AI CC 2019

"EmojiOne Color" is a "color-only" font in AI CC 2019. Although it has "fallback" B&W characters that work fine in earlier versions of Illustrator the font CANNOT be change to B&W in AI CC 2019. This is a HUGE flaw in the font and should be made to work in either color or black and white mode.
