  1. Contextual Eyedropper Tool

    Currently, the Eyedropper Tool is an underutilized and often counter-intuitive tool that needlessly increases the complexity of a workflow because of its limitations. This- combined with Illustrator's poor color tools- often adds unnecessary time and effort to what should and could be more simplified tasks.

    The solution to that would be to activate a stroke if you want to apply a color to it, then to hold Shift when clicking a color — does not matter where this color is on a stroke or a fill. Illustrator then applies the picked color to the active fill/stroke, ignoring the source nature. There are two things to know — the cursor does not inform you about this mode (unlike the Alt-mode, should be addressed), and if you pick a color from a swatch — you’d get a screen representation of the color... harmless for RGB documents (if your color settings are in order), but crucial for CMYK documents (should be addressed too). Pleas comment back.

  2. Make Black Swatch really Black in RGB mode

    An old annoyance: in many occasions, in RGB Document mode the Default Black Swatch is not black, but 15,15,15 gray.
    This problem shows up in every new version.
    Please make sure that when a document is in RGB mode, the Black and White swatches are 0,0,0 and 255,255,255 - just as we may expect.

  3. Change a group of vector's stroke size relative to each other, thicker or thinner, at the same time. Like Word's font up & font down button

    Change a group of vectors' stroke size relative to each other, thicker or thinner, at the same time. Like Word's font up & font down button.

    Right now it's frustrating when you transform size down a drawing with multiple stroke sizes. The strokes are then too thick. But if you have multiple stroke widths, there is no way to reduce them in size relative to each other so the drawing keeps the same look.

  4. Disable CC Libraries in Illustrator

    I would like the option to Disable the use of Libraries in Illustrator.

    I can close the panel but every time I create a new colour swatch the panel reappears. This isn't helpful for the way I work so I'm looking for a way to turn off this feature.

    As I am self employed and don't collaborate with others, all my colours are saved within the document they are relevant to which is why I would like to turn off this feature.

  5. The ability to offset paths multiple times all at once

    The ability to offset paths multiple times all at once would be so useful!

    Freehand used to have this ability. Comes in handy!

    As it is now I need to go in multiple separate times to do this. Makes it awkward and time-consuming.

  7. Special characters like in InDesign

    It would be reat to have special characters (especially hyphens and white spaces) like in InDesign... and that they work just as good. So far, for example, the "nonbreaking space" doesn't always react well when the text is justified.

  8. Shortcut for Delete Layer

    I'd like a custom shortcut for deleting a layer. I could, of course, record an action and assign one of the F keys (F5, F6, etc), but I don't want to use the F keys.

  9. Move the "Merge Live Paint" button from the control panel to the Quick Actions section of the Properties panel

    When you want to merge a new path with an existing live paint group and you select new shapes and the live paint group, the option to merge those shapes with the live paint group does not appear in the quick action section of the properties panel. I understand people may not want to do this but the new and more responsive context options that appear in quick actions are quite useful. I've steadily relied less and less on the control panel and now resort to the properties panel save this one function. Moving it down to quick actions when…

  10. fix type on path

    Please fix the Type on a path Tool!!! Wherever u click on a path, is where the cursor should begin! Left justified with left & right handles fully extended to the far ends. Don't start at the bottom, don't make me rotate it on a circle and then flip inside out, don't disappear and make me criss-cross the handles to the opposite sides to reveal my text again... Even short line paths have the handles too close together to reveal the text. Come on, it's been going on far too long. Let's fix this. Please. I'm begging you.

  11. Separate "Random" checkboxes for every parameter of the transform each command and effect.

    Seperate "Random" checkboxes for every parameter of the "Transform Each" command and effect.

    This would allow the user, in one step, to randomize only the selected parameter, (say the vertical scale) but still transform the other parameters (maybe rotation and number of copies) uniformly.

  12. Improve print quality for non-postscript printers on macOS

    When using Illustrator on macOS Computers, the quality (resolution) of documents is lower when printed on non-postscript printers than when printing the same document using Acrobat (this seems not to be the case for Windows).
    The attached file shows the difference between the exact same file printed on the same printer using the same settings. The upper part was printed using Acrobat, the lower part was directly printed with Illustrator.

  13. Effect/Filter parity with Photoshop/Indesign/After Effects

    Many of the effects in Illustrator seem to be only half implemented (in comparison to PS/AE/etc). Illustrator's glow/shadow/etc effects only have a few options compared to the same effects in other Adobe apps, which makes them less adaptable & powerful. Please beef up the effects (and add new ones, such as directional feather/gradient feather/inner shadow) in Illustrator so that they match the offerings in Adobe's other apps.

  14. Allow a transparency setting for Trim View

    I love trim view! But can you add a setting to Prefs that allows you to set the transparency of the background so I can still see stuff outside of the trim. I often keep stuff outside of the artboard as reference, but now it is completely hidden and I have to keep turning off trim view to see it. I would love to set the trim transparency top somehting like 90% opacity so I can still trim the art view, but still see my other stuff outside of the art board. I also would like to see my bleeds.

  15. Hide Pie Widget

    In the same way as we can hide the corner widget I'd really appreciate the ability to hide the pie widget (while still being able to see the bounding box) I've never used, but I often scale eclipses from the centre right anchor point. Which is impossible with the pie widget thing.
    View > Hide Pie Widget.

  16. SVG import/export destroys details for SVG-files generated by Inkscape

    Whenever I open a SVG-file in Illustrator that was generated by Inkscape, very frequently details are destroyed. A message appears stating that "round-way to tiny" may have exactly done this.
    This bug makes it impossible to collaboratively work on figures with colleagues that do not use Illustrator, but Inkscape instead.

    I am using Illustrator CC 22.1.

  17. Add checkbox to modify Magic Wand tool so you can select from "Active" or "All Artboards"

    Selecting fills/strokes based on their colors is a great way to make changes quickly in Adobe Illustrator.

    The issue with the Magic Wand tool is that it selects colors from ALL ARTBOARDS.

    My request is to add a simple checkbox to give the Magic Wand tool the option to select just the "Active" artboard. By default it will select from "All" artboards.

  18. Freeform Gradient 0% Opacity Option

    The freeform gradient is a wonderful tool but it would be more robust if the gradient points can be put to 0% opacity so there's a nice fade. At the moment, the point disappears if you bring the opacity down to zero.

  20. small swatches in library

    Need the option to view smaller thumbnail size swatches/icons in Libraries. There's too much scrolling to reach the end of the palette. Thanks.
