Allow us to control the saving of cached copies of raster effects.
I use a lot of raster effects in my work. A lot. I can easily have several thousand paths with effects on them. (Mostly Gaussian Blur, thanks for speeding that one up a few versions ago!)
Some experimentation with saving multiple copies of an effect-heavy file with different raster effects resolutions confirmed my suspicion that the file size varies greatly with the effect PPI:
300ppi: 70.8MB
150ppi: 28.8MB
72ppi: 14.4MB
2ppi: 5.4MBReloading the 300ppi copy made it obvious that there's a cache of raster effects in the file, as I didn't have to wait through a half a minute of progress bars while AI rendered a few thousand gaussian blurs like I did a little earlier when I bumped the resolution up.
I would love to be able to reclaim a ton of disc space by saving my files without all these images. I am perfectly happy to accept the tradeoff of it taking a moment to render them all when I load in a file.
I envision another checkbox in the Save dialogue, probably right under the 'PDF compatibility' checkbox. "Include raster effect cache"? Defaults to on for new documents, will come up as off if I do a Save As on a file that I've already saved with it off, just like all the other checkboxes in there.

Sticky swatches, patterns, gradients, brushes and symbols.
I get so very tired of having to re-create what I've made or added earlier, or find the original file that contains things I've created earlier. It's starting from zero every time I open a new file.
It would be so nice to have things I added to panels be there for the next file.
1 voteThere are several options to make resources sticky.
1. Save your swatches/brushes/etc. library as user defined one on a disk, using the dedicated panel’s menu. Open each then from same menu in User Defined sub-folder. When the separate palette appears, mark is as Persistent in this panel’s menu, This will make these palettes stick after Illustrator relaunches.
2. You can locate document profiles (Print.ai, Web.ai, etc.) on your machine (in New Document Profiles folder), edit their predefined presets, and resave them. This will make every new document based on these profile to have your resources.
3. Save a current document with the resources as a template, and later call them File > New from template. This will fixate the artboards settings though, unlike method 2.
But be careful with methods, because Ai can reset document profiles when updates.

I want to edit the shape of the gaussian blur
I like to "paint" using gaussian blur, using it primarily for shadows and highlights. Sometimes it leaves some pixels in places I don't want them, and I cannot mask them away and I cannot erase them.

Smart Guides snapping to the cursor is just making me work much slower
I have been having problems with smart guides after the recent update. It has been snapping my cursor to objects, which I have never wanted and never will want to do that ever. I just want to simply align objects together, and now I have to use the features in the align window to time-consumingly do the jobs. Please remove the snap-to-cursor feature for the sake of my deadlines.
1 voteThe latest Beta build allows to disable snapping to the cursor position as an advanced option in Preferences > Smart Guides. Please try and see if it’s something that works for you.

Preferences for layers panel
Obviously there are a lot of ideas and requests for the layers panel because everyone wants to customize it for their own uses. Adding a bunch of options in the preferences panel would be better than a lot of "permanent" changes.
I don't like the fact that every element is on a separate layer at all, for my projects it is not necessary. In InDesign I get to choose what elements are on which layer - that would be sooooooo nice in Illustrator

Dear Team, Need AI can save files faster when we all are working homes, in a lower network speed.
Adobe AI getting more slower in the aspects of saving even small files, when we all are working from home till now, it should be save much faster our files and can save some backup files even.

Kill switch
Would be great FOR ALL ADOBE PRODUCTS to create a kill switch at start-up. Don't know how many times I have launched AE when I meant to click on Illustrator, or really any product. Having a button to stop the software from launching after accidentally clicking on it would be great, locate the button on the start-up panel....

Convert Psd to Illustrator Layer Fix
The issue. Photoshop not converting files for illustrator correctly.
excuses from locals: It works on in vectors... the arguing point to this... its art... and photoshop is being called a basic thing
If subject A is photoshop and Subject B is our layers. We have effects and other such various components such as shadows and shading. We are trying to bridge this over to Illustrator.
The way to accomplish this is each layer to be converted to png in a stack order atleast for a quick fix. So that way no programing and changes. The format would then work as a png which is a stable file. A opacity change could follow as a modification to the subject files.
As this converts this allow for ourward tracing.
Time is money and by doing this and accomplishing it you would literally mainstream photoshop back as php and ui/ux and converting it to illustrator and then to xd. Just would make things better. Why build more tolls when you're trying to maximize profits? kills two birds with one stone... I pay more for all three programs... you win... I get to vector my art and work with the speed of massive amount of premade content in photoshop.

Hello!
When right-click > Rotate, It would be very handly to have the angle field already selected to just insert the value, or to have it selected when you press Tab first time (now you need to press Tab 4 times in order to have the value field selected).

Snap to glyph(s) allows quick and precise alignment around contours of live text without the need of creating outlines or reference guides. You will see smart snapping guides for words and a line by default. You can also enable a single glyph mode by right-clicking on the targeted glyph.
We have tried to provide as many important smart guides as possible without cluttering the workspace. We would love to hear your candid feedback. Please provide your feedback on this thread. Feedback on new Recolor artwork (in Beta now)
New redesigned Recolor artwork is available in Beta now.
We heard from many of you that the current Recolor is confusing and difficult to use. This new Recolor has a completely redesigned experience with an added ability to recolor your art based on your referenced images & artwork. We have broken the Recolor into two sections. When you invoke Recolor, you would see an on canvas dialogue that allows you to quickly Recolor your artwork with all the basic controls. For advanced settings, you can click on more options (...).

Known Issues:
1. The number of colors in the Recolor Palette doesn’t get updated on Mac.
2. Document get scrolled when dragging the color palette’s distribution slider to the left
3. A flicker of the color text box when dragging the Palette on Windows
4. Colour Wheel’s UI doesn’t get updated on changing Illustrator’s UI theme
5. Grabber on HUD is not clearly visible in dark theme
6. Performance lag while applying to recolour to Complex Artworks
7. Swatches group cannot be added from Library to swatch panel while HUD is active

Modification of pattern through keyboard shortcut
There was a very useful option available in very old versions of Illustrator (before CC). When I need to modify a pattern applied to an object but not the object itself (scaling, rotating, shearing, mirroring, etc...) , it was possible to do it manually, not throught he box, by pressing a key — to be chosen in the keyboard shortcut menu — while moving the mouse or using the increment keys. It was much faster and flexible than to have to go through the box, deselect the "apply to object" option and repeat several time. It would be great to have this possibility back.

Copying a layer in a multi-layer file does not put anything on the clipboard for SVG
Select the top layer in a multi-layer file
Copy it to the clipboard
Use a clipboard viewer to display the "Scalable Vector Graphics" formatExpected Result: Well-formed SVG content to be on the clipboard.
Actual Result: The clipboard has no data for the format, even thought it advertises it as being available.I am a Microsoft engineer reporting this on behalf of a customer who is attempting to paste a layer from Illustrator into PowerPoint as SVG.

my colors keep shifting in illustrator. rgb and CMYK. seems to happen in ever doc.
I create swatches and it still doesnt remember shifts the value.
