1. Better reflect tool functionality with option to add multiple instances similar to Macromedia Freehand.

   Illustrator needs a better reflect tool that can add multiple instances. The way Freehand's reflect/rotate tool worked was IMO optional because it gave a live preview of the outcome and worked intuitively.

   I know that similar thing can be done in effects -> transform, but you need many more steps to achieve the same result, often not knowing what to expect visually before you get the result.

2. Add an ON/OFF toggle button in the Artboards panel to enable/disable “Paste on Selected Artboards”

   Since Illustrator 29.6, Paste in Front / Paste in Back / Paste in Place now pastes to all currently selected artboards. While this is a useful feature, it introduces a hidden prerequisite — the artboard selection state — that causes unexpected behavior in everyday workflows.

   Problems

   1. When zoomed in, other artboards move off-screen, making their selection state visually undetectable. The only way to check which artboards are selected is to open the Artboards panel — an extra step that interrupts the workflow every time before pasting.
   2. If multiple artboards are unintentionally left selected (e.g., after using the Artboard tool), paste operations silently affect more artboards than intended.
   3. There is no scripting API to get or set the artboard selection state, causing ExtendScript and AppleScript workflows that include paste operations to behave incorrectly.

   Proposed solution

   Add a toggle button directly in the Artboards panel to turn “Paste on Selected Artboards” on or off. This makes the current mode immediately visible in context, allows switching without opening Preferences, and gives scripters a reliable way to disable the feature before running automated paste operations.

   This would be consistent with similar per-panel toggles elsewhere in Illustrator, and allows the new feature to coexist with existing workflows.

3. Share for review needs rotate tool in the web cooperation mode

   I use the share for review usually for the very complex packaging designs.

   In many cases the package has text on all sides and that means that the texts are sometimes 180 or 90 degrees rotated. Its very inconvenient for the client to comment those texts. So the web interface definitely needs a simple 180-90 degrees rotation tool.

4. Shape Eraser Tool

   similar to eraser tool in clip studio paint vector layer, you just click to delete a shape / path / compound path, or sweep the tool to delete multiple adjacent shapes.
   Currently I have to click and delete to trim these lines, which are expanded brush strokes, really time consuming process.

5. Keep edit Intertwine editable after pressing Ctrl+z

   When Ctrl+z is pressed to undo an intertwine, the whole object is unselected as an intertwine and cannot be edited as an intertwine, without pressing edit in the intertwine menu.

   This does not occur in other tools like live paint, after pressing Ctrl+z, the object remains selected as a live paint object and remains editable.

   If possible, please add this feature.

   This is valuable to me, because it speeds up my workflow, as it makes Illustrator more consistent.

   An Intertwine object no longer gets deselected when you undo an operation, and now behaves more like Live Paint. Please reply if it does not match your expectations.

6. Please Support the File Info feature for SVG files

   When saving files in SVG format, we can't currently save File Info, such as copyright, file name etc. You can fill it in but it disappears when you open the file again. I was told but Adobe that the File Info only works with .ai files and they suggested I ask about it here.

   This is valuable to me because I can record copyright information with each SVG file.

7. Select same, with multiple selectable attributes and customisations

   When using the Select Same feature we need a lot more options, like all objects with the same transparency effect AND opacity AND tint AND line weight etc, that can be selected from a list of attributes. Same sort of list as the options list for the Eyedropper Tool (see screenshot).

   It should be split into sections that allow vectors graphics selections as above, but also things like selecting all linked items that are the same file AND the same size AND rotation AND opacity.

   Selecting all text in a certain colour, font, size, style so they can be updated en masse would help too (overlapping with another suggestion here).

   You can then tick as many as you like before performing the select using your chosen filters. A preview mode would be useful too, so you can see what you're picking up.

   Once set, selected filters should be saveable and accessable from a scrollable list alongside the filter window for instant selection without opening a save / load screen.

   Finally, each select same filter window should have an option to add / subtract from the current selection, so selctions can be stacked / refined.

   This would be a huge time-saver when updating many files with similar changes whether to update embedded elements, for corporate image updates or technical changes like minimum line thickness.

8. Fix annoying save bug after adjusting UI preferences

   I just encountered an annoying save bug that caused me to lose 90 minutes of work in Illustrator. Here is the sequence of events:

   •  I opened an existing document in AI, with the intention of changing it and saving as something else.

   • I opened preferences and made a minor UI adjustment (tweaked the size of my tool bar).

   • Dialog #1 stated that changes will not occur until you restart AI. Would you like to restart? Yes/No.

   • I selected YES (without thinking), under the assumption that I would be given the option to 'save as.'

   • Dialog #2 stated that I could either save over my existing file or trash my changes.

   • I wanted to 'save as' so that I could save the new work without writing over the existing file. Since both options were undesired and there was no way for me to back out, I chose "do not save" and lost my work.

   I would prefer to have seen a "CANCEL" button that would have allowed me to back out of the process altogether, so that I could manually save the new work. Now, I'm forced to start over.

   Please look into it and find a fix. Thanks.

9. Improve Trim Mark Settings When Exporting PDFs

   In the Japanese printing industry, it is common practice to require both corner crop marks and center crop marks when exporting PDFs.

   Currently, in Illustrator’s PDF export settings, enabling the “Trim Marks” option only adds corner marks. To include center crop marks, users must also check the “Registration Marks” option, which results in registration marks being added as well.

   However, these registration marks are generally disliked and considered unnecessary in Japanese print workflows. There needs to be an option to add only corner and center crop marks without registration marks.

   InDesign allows users to configure “inner crop marks,” “outer crop marks,” and “center crop marks” individually, offering much greater flexibility. We strongly request that Illustrator provide similar options for more precise control over crop marks when exporting PDFs.

10. Make Select Art button more evident

    I periodically see designers, with serious (albeit cheerful) faces, boldly clicking the 'round button' in Layers to 'select everything on the layer.'

    And while the button indeed 'selects' everything on a layer, it also selects the layer itself — targets it really, for applying a layer-specific appearance.

    Take a look at this GIF attached.
    If I select Layer 2 (with the green squares) like this, and then apply the Round Corners effect, all the new squares in the layer will have round corners.
    Sure, everything is visible in the Appearance palette.
    Sure, everything is written in the pop-up hints.

    The round ones are for appearance. We need to click to the right of the circle instead, where the square markers are drawn — these are there to mark selection... AND allow selection.

    It’s a very common mistake (like confusing windshield wipers and turn signals)...
    And I think I know why it happens. I’m convinced that it is psychologically easier to click a circle — that looks more like a button, — than an empty space where a square appears (when clicked).
    Recently some accessibility changes were introduced into Ai, and now things we can click in most panels gets highlighted slightly on hover — but not these square-to-be spots! Even when there are square markers there!

    So please make these more pronounced.

    I love appearance dearly, but selecting all in a layer / sublayer / group is a far more common procedure users do. And discovering something called 'appearance' was the source of many problems with art’s colors is not a good way to meet this power.

11. Gradient Tool Needs Custom Angle Increment Option

    There should be an option to define the angle increment that you want Shift to lock to when creating or modifying a gradient. Such as 15 degree increments (0º, 15º, 30º...). Come on Adobe!

12. Distortion tool like the feature in Photoshop

    Could you please add a distortion feature in Illustrator, such as the one in Photoshop, for clipping mask objects and linked images? I know that Illustrator already has one called 'envelope distort' but I find it difficult to use.

    Can you draw a mockup? Even a crude one can help to understand the exact idea you have.

    Recent versions of Illustrator have new 3D and Materials tools, which allow to create bent cylinders and other shapes. Please comment back.

14. Enhanced Shape Builder Tool

    Something that would be enormously helpful and prevent a lot of unnecessary backtracking would be expanding on the capabilities of the shape builder tool in three key ways, though if any are possible, the first one would be most helpful.

    1. Allow the use of the shapebuilder tool on objects contained in a mask.

    2. Allow the shape builder tool to operate on an object outside of a mask using objects inside a mask

    3. Allow for selective use of shape builder tool on specific objects in a group without ungrouping.

15. Display artboard captions when exporting artboards

    Every time when i have multiple artboards and hit Save As, Ii don't know exactly which artboards i want to include, cause i don't know the specific number.
    So i go back out of the save as dialog, pick the Artboard Tool and save again, now able to see which numbers i want to include. I would be less time consumption if it would show the numbers of the artboards always no matter which tool is selected, when there is a save as or export dialog started.

16. Allow Symbol Instances to update during master symbol editing

    When making patterns or complex design based on instanced symbols it's vital to see how the seams between repeated symbols update. It would be good to see all instances (in view) update as you're editing a "master", and for the alignment tools to take the other instances into account so you can make pieces align with each other across a grid. Today the instances will only update AFTER you're done editing and it makes for a lot of going back and forth.

17. Hitting Escape while creating a shape, an artboard, while using Rotate, Scale, etc., doesn't cancel the process

    When we marquee a selection and hit Escape — it gets canceled.
    When we hit Escape while dragging out a guide — it gets canceled.
    Dragging out a brush on the canvas — works.
    Dragging out a swatch to drop it on a gradient or the canvas — works.
    Dragging the appearance form the Appearance panel — works.
    ...and many other cases

    Escape does NOT work for these cases:
    1. Creating a shape, an artboard, an area text
    2. Rotating, scaling, shearing, free transforming...
    3. Setting up the width with the Width tool
    4. Setting up the gradient with the Gradient tool
    5. Building a shape with the Shape Builder tool
    6. Using the Eyedropper
    ...and many other cases

    Hitting Escape while moving an artboard commits it!

    Can we get Escape to cancel anything we make/control/edit by dragging?

18. Bring back menu highlighting feature in 'HELP' menu

    Please bring back menu highlighting feature for Illustrator and Photoshop! In previous versions, you could type a word in the HELP dropdown (i.e. "offset path in Ai"), and the menu where the item is located would drop down and highlight the item. This is very useful because designers sometimes remember the name of a feature, but not where it is located. Also for learning it is very useful.

    Discover panel now highlights the location for all commands you search for with it. Call it with Help > Illustrator Help or with F1 hotkey.

19. More visual feedback for the Eyedropper

    The Eyedropper tool has several cursors (it’s almost impossible to find any explanations about at helpx.adobe.com), displaying different states:
    - a filled pipette for when you click,
    - a pipette with square below to indicate a screen sampling,
    - an additional T to indicate a text below,
    - a reverse filled pipette to indicate apply mode.
    However, some modes are missing.

    When you have smart guides disabled (for any reason), you can’t tell which object the tool will pick from, what attribute or will you miss completely by a pixel. The Shift mode is not covered too. So we need these:
    - a cursor to indicate Shift is held ('direct translation mode')
    - a way to indicate an art is under the cursor and not the blank canvas
    - a preview of colors picked and/or a hint to indicate which attributes will get picked if you click (and an option to disable it)

    The Eyedropper tool has several cursors (it’s almost impossible to find any explanations about at helpx.adobe.com), displaying different states:
    - a filled pipette for when you click,
    - a pipette with square below to indicate a screen sampling,
    - an additional T to indicate a text below,
    - a reverse filled pipette to indicate apply mode.
    However, some modes are missing.

20. Circles in Illustrator are not accurate

    The circles in Illustrator are flawed and here's why.
    I discovered a major bug in Illustrator CC. The circles in Illustrator are not accurate. This is the case regardless of whether you use the ellipse tool or the arc tool. Make a circle. Check the dimensions to make sure it's accurate. Draw a radius line at 0º. Copy it 3 times and rotate the copies 90º,180º and 270º. When all of the copied lines are put on the center of the circle, they all touch the inner edge of the circle perfectly. However, Copy the 0º line and rotate it 45º. Put it on the center of the circle. It doesn't touch the inner edge of the circle. Copy the 0º line and rotate it 18º. Put it on the center of the circle. It’s even farther away from the inner edge of the circle. The circle is flawed.
    Here is another way to see that the circles are not accurate. Make a hollow circle. Copy it and change the color of it's line. Rotate the copy 18º. Put it onto the original circle. They do not line up accurately. I spent an hour with an Illustrator expert while he had control of my computer through the support portal. He came to the same conclusion as i did. For some reason the circles in Illustrator are not perfect. He has spoken to his superiors and they are giving this issue priority. They were very happy that i told them about this and will hopefully solve the problem. For those of us that must have perfect geometry in our work, this is a very important issue.
