1. Selecting layer selects artboard

   I have been given an icons file that has 100+ icons, each on a separate artboards.

   I can search (finally) for the item in Layers and select it, but it is not selecting or locating the artboard at the same time.

   An alternative to this would be to have a search function on artboards.

2. Zoom In On Navigator

   Zoom In On Navigator

   1. When I am using the navigator, I'd like to see how certain areas of my document will look when printed. I would like to be able to zoom in on the navigator. See attached file.
   2. This would help me greatly because I could see small changes and large changes, at a better scale, while not making the navigator take up too much space within your layout.

3. Add Embroidery Digitizing Features

   Please add the ability to do embroidery digitizing within this program; including the ability to export in the most common embroidery file types. If not, a standalone program added to Creative Cloud would be greatly appreciated. This would be especially useful on Macs, because there aren't as many software programs that specialize in digitizing as there are on PC.

4. Fix on Crop Mark Position in Save as PDF

   If I select the color bar and page information in Marks and Bleeds, the position of the crop mark will be shifted slightly above the center of the page, so it would be helpful if you could position it at the center of the page.
   Because the distance of the misalignment is so small, it is often overlooked, and when ordering prints online, it is inconvenient because you have to manually adjust the position or remove the color bar and page information before saving the file.

5. Remove the "legacy" designation from Save For Web.

   Save For Web was marked as "legacy" when Export For Screens was added, with the implication SFW would be vanishing at some point. It's seven years later and SFW is still around, and still what I use 100% of the time over EFS and the terrible Export As... options.

   Save For Web is a great tool for someone creating art with Illustrator; it lets me quickly and easily adjust the file format and resolution of the generated image for whatever I may need, and uses most of the screen to show me exactly what I'll be getting.

   Export for Screens? It's terrible for my needs. One tiny little thumbnail for each artboard. Or each "asset". Which I guess are useful if you're making user interfaces? I don't do that, I use Illustrator for illustration.

   Export As...? It's even worse. Each file format has a terrible little dialogue box without much consistency between them, and next to no control over the final size - guessing at final pixel size by changing the DPI is utterly absurd to do. It used to be useful, years ago; it used to be as powerful as the dialogue Photoshop gives you when you try to import an AI file. Then the whole UI got rebuilt and that was thrown out in favor of a bunch of dialogues that do the barest minimum effort required. Now it's just a bunch of bad jokes.

   Save For Web is the only one of these options that's really useful to an artist, and you hide it away by saying it's "legacy". Obviously not something anyone should USE.

   Please, do what you have to do to make Save For Web something you don't want to mark as "legacy". Keep it around. Modernize it so you can drop in new file formats as the world decides they're useful. I really do not know what I'd do if you ever did finally follow through on the implicit threat of removing it; exporting stuff would be a huge pain **********.

6. Identify Newly Installed Fonts in Adobe Illustrator

   Problem:

   Managing large font collections in Adobe Illustrator can be challenging, especially when installing new fonts. With hundreds or even thousands of fonts, identifying recently added ones becomes a tedious task, often requiring manual scrolling and searching through the entire font menu.

   Proposed Solution:

   Implement a feature in Illustrator that allows users to easily identify newly installed fonts. Here are two potential options:

   Filter by Install Date: Add a sorting option within the font menu that displays fonts by their installation date. This would allow users to quickly see the most recently added fonts at the top of the list.

   "New Fonts" Badge: Introduce a temporary visual indicator (badge) next to newly installed fonts within the font menu. This badge would disappear after a designated period (e.g., one week) or upon user interaction (e.g., clicking the font).

   Benefits:

   Improved workflow efficiency by saving time spent searching for new fonts.
   Enhanced organization and management of large font libraries.
   Streamlined font discovery for design projects.
   Additional Considerations:

   The implementation should be lightweight and not impact application performance.
   Users should have the option to disable the badge or sorting by install date if preferred.

7. Return / make optional ability to indicate subfolders in artboard name / path

   In previous versions it was possible to make name of artboard as "folder/subfolder/artboardname" and while export it would reproduce whole hierarchy of subfolders.
   It was super nice for organizing assets.
   Now it saves file in base directory and replaces "/" with "-".
   Maybe we can put this option to settings so that people may continue to use it.

8. Turn off "Could not complete the requested operation. The requested transformation would make some objects fall completely off the drawing"

   I routinely work with large art files, and while I would love the drawing area to be unlimited, it seems like that's never going to happen.

   In the meantime, please add an option to turn off the warning message; "Could not complete the requested operation. The requested transformation would make some objects fall completely off the drawing area". I know when I use the transform tool and I've previously moved an object a great distance across the drawing area that I can't repeat that operation. I don't need to be reminded of that constantly. The behavior of this dialog box is borderline a bug.

   This also occurs when scaling. Why does the message pop up BEFORE you actually try to execute the command? For example, if I scaled something by 4800% and while that object is selected, use the scale tool again, the message pops up. This is incredibly annoying. Either make it possible to disable the message, or make the message occur when you actually try to do the thing it's warning you about, not as soon as you click on the tool.

   I routinely work with large art files, and while I would love the drawing area to be unlimited, it seems like that's never going to happen.

9. UNSAVED DOCUMENT ASTERISK - *

   Sometimes we need to know if we changed a document, or if something moved without us realizing it. And the only way to know is to look at that tiny asterisk next to the document file name to see if it was modified.

   My idea is to make that asterisk a little bit bigger, so people can easily spot it. I am attaching a screenshot with a rough concept.

11. Adding overprint toggles in the Separations Preview window

    Currently, the overprint toggles are only in the "Attributes" panel but the overprint preview toggle is in the Separations Preview panel. Including overprint toggles in the Separations Preview panel allows the user to see the overprints in the file and toggle off/on any visible overprints prior to exporting/printing. This would save on workspace real estate by choosing to exclude the Attributes panel solely for overprint toggles.

12. Combine all Thumbnail Preview Options

    There are multiple ways to remove thumbnail previews on the Layers, Appearance and Links palettes and these have to be set on every file.

    As a huge drag on screen redraw performance, these should be a single option / button accessible without going into the prefs panel.

    Perhaps with an opt-out tick box per palette to fine tune. For example: Users could have thumbs persist on the layers palette, while the others toggle on a button.

13. Two Inconsistencies: current document name centered in the app header, Duplicate Layer in the context menu

    I have always found Adobe apps to be consistent across all of the apps. But I noticed two in consistencies in Illustrator, and they bug me. 1. I'd love to see my file name centered at the top of the application. 2. I'd love to be able to right click in the Layer panel to duplicate a layer.

    Of course, let me know if I am over looking something.

14. Fix annoying save bug after adjusting UI preferences

    I just encountered an annoying save bug that caused me to lose 90 minutes of work in Illustrator. Here is the sequence of events:

    •  I opened an existing document in AI, with the intention of changing it and saving as something else.

    • I opened preferences and made a minor UI adjustment (tweaked the size of my tool bar).

    • Dialog #1 stated that changes will not occur until you restart AI. Would you like to restart? Yes/No.

    • I selected YES (without thinking), under the assumption that I would be given the option to 'save as.'

    • Dialog #2 stated that I could either save over my existing file or trash my changes.

    • I wanted to 'save as' so that I could save the new work without writing over the existing file. Since both options were undesired and there was no way for me to back out, I chose "do not save" and lost my work.

    I would prefer to have seen a "CANCEL" button that would have allowed me to back out of the process altogether, so that I could manually save the new work. Now, I'm forced to start over.

    Please look into it and find a fix. Thanks.

15. Sort content in links palette + User controlled preflight warnings

    Added sorting ability in links palette would be very useful.
    Allowing me to sort by file size, alpha, date placed, date altered. Similar to finder or windows explorer. Allowing me to rearrange the columns to suit my needs.

    A preflight indicator of any potential conflicts would be a nice add as well.
    CMYK doc with an RGB image placed. Unused nodes swatches, does this doc contain any overprint items, that kind of thing. In a perfect world I could set in prefs what I want warnings for.

    Hello Everyone, I am using Illustrator 25.0.1 version which I updated recently from 25.0, 2021 version. During work I have noticed a small problem in Layers option. First when I copy some artwork from one file which is SPLIT in different LAYERS to another file it does not give me the same SPLIT layers in the new file but put it only in one layer instead.
    Second : If I have given a name to some layer of the Artwork suppose Layer A when I paste the same in new file or another file it does not give me the new layer as Layer A but puts it in the top most layer of the new file.
    This may be a small problem for common users of illustrator but for people who have to work in packaging design like me it is a trouble. Can anyone help me for understanding or rectifying the problem for this new version 25.0.1.

17. Artboards should have a purpose

    1. What is the purpose of having an artboard if anything drawn beyond it shows up as part of your drawing? I exported an artwork as a png file and everything beyond the artboard showed up as part of the artwork. The workspace around the artboard should be able to be used for ideas that may be relevant to future versions of your art or to assist in creating your art.
    2. When I drew the attached image, I expected that anything beyond the artboard would not show as part of the artwork.

    Illustrator can respect artboards when exporting a raster image, if Use Artboards option in the Export dialog gets checked. In this case everything beyond artboards’ boundaries will get trimmed.

    Export for Screens method will respect either artboards or assets, depending on the user’s choice.

    Also, there is a view to just hide these excess temporarily with View > Trim View command, but this won’t make changes when exporting.

19. In artboard mode enable unit of measure in Distribute Spacing using Align panel

    Recently Artboard mode added support for the Align panel’s Distribute commands, which is great, however I can't type in the unit box for distribute. This is surely a quick fix to just enable that box when in ARTBOARD Mode.

    I find myself needing to set spacing between artboards all the time, and the rearrange tool does not always work, because it just sets the same distance between multiple artboards.

    I have found many scenarios where rearrange does not work, because I have different artboards of different sizes stacked on top and below and left and right.

    What I really need is to be able to quickly select 2 or more artboards and to be able to quickly set spacing between them, align distribute tool is the best for this in normal mode.

20. Marking already-placed images after import

    Having Illustrator flag placed images (by small icon or turning the text to italics?) under the "File > Place" pop-up window when using LIST mode (by Illustrator finding duplicates comparing in the Links pallete) helping the user keep track when a large number of images need to be placed.

    Right now if I have 50 images to place I have to use memory of where I was placing each or compare links pallete to finder window as a list to check at the end.
