1. Retention of fillable form areas when editing and saving an existing PDF.

   Illustrator used to retain fillable form areas when editing and saving an existing PDF. Pretty please. We need that feature back. It's wasting a lot of production time recreating the form fields. When you open and edit graphics in an existing PDF in Illustrator, the instant you save the file (not "Save As...", just "Save") all of the fillable fields are erased.
   Since it's all Adobe, why can't they work seamlessly like they used to?

2. Width tool feature

   Hi

   As you can see from the file the split in the lower right corner is much bigger than the rest. And I was told that that is because AI treats the starting point of an object different. This makes it difficult to make symmetrict shapes without a lot of extra work.

   Therefor I was hoping this was something You could do something about in a future update

3. Which profiles should be used when viewing pdfs?

   Hi, today I had a problem like this:

   I created a pdf from an illustrator file, it was a montage of many labels only in black.

   Then visualizing them with acrobat pro with "fogra 27" was perfect, but my service used "fogra 39" and the black was split into CMYK.

   Then, by ripping the pdf to make the plates, black was displayed only in black.

   Which profiles should be used when viewing pdfs?

4. Move "Share on Behance" and "Save for Microsoft Office" and add Quick Export

   I do a lot of "rapid fire" exporting as I work mostly on card games in Illustrator. So a small change on 50-75+ cards requires me to (File, Export, PNG, Use Art Board, Overwrite, PNG Options, Ok) 50-75 times. Most annoyingly in this process, is when my hand slips and I click on Share on Behance or Save for Microsoft Office when I'm trying to Export. I think these options should be moved to their own category under "File" because I've never exported straight to Behance (I always export then upload separately if at all) and Save for Microsoft Office is literally a Save option so it should go with the other Save options. As for a "Quick Export" similar to Photoshop's, I think it'd be really nice to have an Export option that defaults PNG and Art Board's selected as the amount of times I don't select art boards or use PNG is very small in the 8 years I've worked in Illustrator. The specifics of Quick Export could also be adjusted in settings.

5. Allow user to set type font and size, and keep it until selecting a different font and size

   I think it would be great if the program “remembered” which type font and size I was working with before in the same file, and keep it that way until I change it. It would also be great to be able to set the type and size across the program if desired, and have it be saved that way until I change it to a different font/size. Because right now, it always automatically goes to the default font and size, which is inconvenient, especially since the default size is 48 point, which is HUGE.

6. Bring in PDF's without changing the formatting

   PDF's, sometimes, when brought in, NOT as an image, but embedded, changes font style widths, etc. This was another issue for me, with a client who built their file in ID and saved as a PDF and I brought it in and embedded it. I did not catch it, but it's clearly changed. I have the font, so that was not an issue, it just change the "BOLD" to "REGULAR". Picture attached shows the "original" PDF as a pic on the right. I have it at 50% opacity as I was comparing.

7. Display Tablet : Wacom CINTIQ 22HD VS XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro REVIEW

   Hello everyone, I'm an Illustrator user, I usually use the Adobe Illustrator, Evernote, Dropbox software and tasks. Mostly Illustrator on my display drawing tablet.

   CINTIQ 22HD

   I know there are a lot of people who are looking for Cintiq alternatives as Wacom's tablets are expensive. I had been wanting a Cintiq for years but never really thought they were worth all that money. However, after I had a chance of using Cintiq 22HD for a few days, I came to realize that drawing on a display tablet is far quicker and more enjoyable than doing it on non-display tablets.
   SO, NOW I WANTED A DISPLAY TABLET TOO FOR TWO REASONS:

   1.Drawing on a display tablet was far more enjoyable than drawing with graphic tablets (like my Deco 01).
   It felt like I was actually drawing on paper.

   2.The higher precision and accuracy = I noticed I wasn't using the "undo" on Cintiq 22HD as much = less hours spent per painting.
   CINTIQ 22HD WAS GOOD BUT IS IT WORTH $1600?

   Although the drawing experience was really good (feels like Intuos but more precise!) on Cintiq 22HD, I still didn't think it was worth $1600. It's a 2012 model and the display was nothing spectacular considering the price. If the display was a higher quality and the tablet was slimmer, I would be dreaming of having one myself even at that price point. Anyways, I looked into cintiq alternatives and the closest thing seemed to be XP-Pen's newest model, Artist 22E Pro.

   XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro

   I ordered and had XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro display tablet for a day.
   It's been only a day but I already have a love and hate relationship with it...
   Here are the Pros and Cons

   PRO's:
   1.More affordable than Cintiq 22HD (although it's still not that cheap $899 / $799 until May 31)
   2.Screen temperature stays REALLY COOL (OMG I LOVE) vs Cintiq 22HD gets a little warm
   3.IPS Panel (wide view angles) and anti-glare coating's really good. (Cintiq 22HD's is grainy)
   4.Almost no lagging felt when drawing (14ms = same as Cintiq 22HD)
   5.Slimmer and smaller than Cintiq but has 21.5 inch screen (same as Cintiq 22HD)
   6.Parallax better than or similar to Cintiq 22HD
   7.Pen accuracy, sensitivity on point (except for the area close to the edges)
   8.Easy to use and install
   9.Sharp, good colors
   CON's: [UPDATE: I am told that these two issues are solved with recent XP-Pen drivers update]

   1.Display is not sharp (texts, image edges, lines are soft when they need to be sharp and clear)
   2.Lower pressure sensitivity levels (1%-20%) I feel like are not that accurate. I needed to put a little more force for the nib to register anything and that results in e.g. 20% opacity when I wanted 10%.
   3.Pen Batteries: You need to recharge pens. Not really a huge con for me because they give you two pens.
   4.No tilt on pen: not a big deal for me. Just mentioning for information as some people do care about this function.

   Other notable info:
   1.Color Gamut: standard (advertised as an "amazing" display). It covers 72%~78% sRGB. Just a standard. It's not really a con or a pro I guess.
   2.No pen stand: their site says they give you a pen stand. I only found a pen case.
   3.Adj. buttons on the display are stiff but you don't need to use them often once everything's set.
   4.Something about the way the pen nib works: related to the con I mentioned; I just didn't like the way it felt. The nib's a little bulky and doesn't feel good
   when doing detailed, light strokes. Depending on what kind of drawing you do, you may not even notice this.

   *I wrote no pen calibration in the image but the driver does have it I just missed it. However, that doesn't change my opinion on the lower pen pressure levels!

   SO, MY CONCLUSION IS:

   1.XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro display tablet is a pretty good alternative to a Cintiq with some better aspects (thin bezels, better parallax, 21.5 inch screen etc.)
   2.BUT! There are two major issues that made me return it. The pressure sensitivity was not up to my expectations. Maybe I am just used to Wacom pens but I felt like it's a little awkward when I needed precise strokes for details. Secondly, the display is not sharp (it's too blurry. It could be because of the anti-glare coating).

   Therefore this is a great display tablet for:
   -people who have never experienced higher end Wacom tablets
   -hobbyists artists
   -people who have not had good quality IPS monitors
   -people looking for a Cintiq-like display without breaking their bank

   Wouldn't recommend it to:
   -people who have used Wacom tablets (Intuos and above) and are used to them
   -professional users / serious artists

   *Note: if you intend to use two tablets from two different brands (e.g. Wacom Intuos and a XP-Pen display tablet) on one PC, keep in mind that there can be only ONE installed driver. You need to uninstall Wacom driver if you are using the XP-Pen tablet and vice versa.

8. Make Undo feature to not apply to selected objects

   Basically what the title says,

   An ability to isolate objects or lock certain layers where the undo feature will not apply to.
   There have been a number of times where I start to work on a complex graphic with separate parts to it where I later realize I made a mistake on a piece i did earlier, so instead of saving the project, undo everything, save again and re import the previous saved file or other copy paste methods, we can just select the objects where the undo feature will not apply to, to keep the progress of the work i did after my mistake.

   Basically what the title says,

9. bug: Screen turns black after choosing width tool

   In between bugs I still try to make something in Illustrator, and now this happened:

   1. I hit Shift + W on the keyboard to select the width tool.
   2. Instead of the width tool cursor, the cursor became a black rectangle.
   3. I noticed both the Selection tool and width tool were selected in the tools window.
   4. I dicided to click on an Anchor anyway, and the screen turned black. The video signal went off, monitor went on standby. The HDD/SSD light on the PC was flashing nonstop. PC did not respond to anyting (I think, but I could not see because there was no visual).
   5. Working file was recovered after reboot, that's nice.

   Win10, 32GB ram, 8core i7, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, HighDPI scaling 200% (4k)

10. Share for Review Feature - Multiple Updates (Clearing Cache)

    I’ve been using Illustrator’s Share for Review feature and I honestly love it. It’s made collaboration with large teams so much easier it has organized comments, smooth conversations, and automatic updates when I refresh the link. It’s been a huge improvement for our big presentations and data-heavy reports.

    One issue I’ve run into: after many revision rounds, some reviewers don’t see the updated file unless they hard refresh or clear their browser cache. This can be tricky for clients or senior team members who might not know how to do that.

    If there’s a way to make updates appear more reliably without manual refresh/cache clearing, it would make this tool even better. Overall, it’s been incredibly helpful and I’d love to use it as our daily review workflow.

11. Make it possible to have NO active Artboard

    I often take screenshots of my work within Illustrator for Proofing purposes and more.. but when doing this I'm often stuck with the dark outline of the active artboard mixed in with multiple other images that do not have the dark artboard line. yes, often times I can simply hide artboards and get what I need, but other times what I'm looking for is only within my Trim view. So even when I go into Trim view and try to hide artboards to remove this dark outline, it does not. I recently learned that toggling to overprint fill turns the background white instead of gray, which is nice, but the active artboard line is still there. So, my first thought was to allow no active artboard to be possible. this could be done within the Artboard window, by clicking in the empty space beneath the artboard list (which currently looks like it does this, yet the Artboard still remains active (dark border).

12. The ability to add CSS code from the Generator to CC libraries

    Hi there, I wanted to put in a feature request that would allow a designer to add CSS code from the generator to be added to CC libraries as a text file.

    As a designer, I create elements for our dev team and they are able to take the CSS code I generate from my designs and integrate it into another product for web development. But it would be good to give them a CSS library folder where they can access the code for the designs. At the moment in my testing, it only creates a graphic of the text, which is not much use.

    So, yeah this I think would be a great feature of Adobe Illustrator.

13. Adobe fonts do not auto activate reliably. Constant issues with Adobe fonts activating properly.

    Your product does not auto activate and integrate "Adobe Fonts" properly. Fonts constantly fail to load or activate from the Adobe fonts library.

    When features like this are not available, you are selling us a product that does not work. Everyone paying for an adobe subscription should be refunded based on the value of the feature. I.e. we should all be refunded for the value of PANTONE color use your app lost... why are we constantly paying to subscribe to a suite of programs that does not live up to the features promised? Send me a letter when the class action lawsuit gets filed, I'll be taking my money back from Adobe's fraudulent business practices.

15. Please add legacy menus and tools as a workspace

    Please, please add legacy menus and tools as an option for a workspace. I have been using AI 3 for years on my old G5 and recently went to a new iMac and bought the full line monthly for all Adobe programs. Acrobat is so much better, PS is tolerable, but AI is near impossible! Everything has moved, the tools react differently and I'm having a heck of a time trying to find everything! Page setup is gone, I do a lot of Image Tracing (all the way back to when you needed that extra program to do it!) and I'm pretty lost. I have used AI 5 so I know that's okay, AI 6 changed a lot of things so I can't even download the version on the Cloud and use that, it's relatively useless. I'd like to keep the new engine while being able to find everything! Please! I know you can do it on some individual tasks and tools, but doing it as a workspace would make it so much easier.

16. Opening menu customization workflow

    As an option for those starting out with Adobe Illustrator, I would like to see you develop a master menu setup process to help me find all the tools I may need for my project. It could begin by asking me/allowing me to select from a list all the things I will want to do with a new project or a newly-opened image file, Adobe or otherwise.
    Those tools and options selected would appear in a dock-able menu window.
    Then, based on known user workflows of different experience levels, Illustrator could recommend additional tools and even tutorials for the different tools and workflows selected and added from known workflows. This would also include a plain-language "where is ____?" search window for users who do not know what everything is precisely called or which menu list in which something might be located.

    As an option for those starting out with Adobe Illustrator, I would like to see you develop a master menu setup process to help me find all the tools I may need for my project. It could begin by asking me/allowing me to select from a list all the things I will want to do with a new project or a newly-opened image file, Adobe or otherwise.
    Those tools and options selected would appear in a dock-able menu window.

17. Layer clipping mask (a bit like a paste-inside on steroids!)

    I'd like to be able to convert a shape into a layer clipping mask which would then allow sub-layers to be created/converted so that they only remain visible within in the shape's boundary and would subsequently honour any sub-layer effects applied therein.

    Why?

    Well at the moment I have to expand any paths with effects applied to layers so that any effect is captured inside the clipping mask. This results in a destructive edit to my artwork and file duplication so that I can revert to the previous editable state when I need to make any changes.

    Background:
    I regularly make use of the appearance panel to build up various stroke effects (for example, 3 strokes layers per path of varying thicknesses when creating railway tracks/roads etc.) but apply that style to a layer so that the sub-layers / paths take on that appearance and seamlessly merge all my various paths.

    Unfortunately, clipping masks remove any effects/styles applied to layers.

    As Scott Falkner says in comments, you can clip a whole layer if you select a path you want to use as a mask, then open the Layers panel and select Make Clipping Mask from the flyout menu.

18. Cannot copy paste text from Illustrator generated PDF's

    To reproduce the issue:
    Create an Illustrator file
    Create a new text frame, type anything and set font to Stratos (OTF) (as available from Adobe Fonts)
    Export PDF through "Export for screens"
    Trying to copy paste text fails

    The issue occurs more precisely with characters that have glyphnames like uniXXXX.
    Almost all characters in Stratos have uniXXXX names, even though they are present in the
    AGL. So "A" has "uni0041" as glyphname.
    We were under the assumption that uniXXXX glyph names were accepted.
    The issue only seems to occur with .otf fonts.

    See the two attached PDF's for
    251119-Stratos-ttf.pdf will correctly copy all the characters
    251119-Stratos-otf.pdf will copy the characters as " " ( <0x2000> )

    The specifications for AGL say:
    Font producers are strongly encouraged to respect this specification when naming the glyphs for their fonts.
    Generally, multiple names can be mapped to the same string. For example, the components ‘Lcommaaccent’, ‘uni013B’, and ‘u013B’ all map to the string U+013B.
    So they recommend using 'A' as glyph name, but 'uni0041' should also be accepted.

19. Problem with Adobe Illustrator pressure on a Surface pro 7

    I recently purchased a Surface Pro 7. I am a graphic designer and an artist and I've always worked on Illustrator but after installing it to my Surface Pro the experience is ruined for me.

    I cannot get a sharp line even if my life depended on it.

    Basically the lines inside the box are the lines I'm getting, the single line outside of the box is what I should be getting but I'm not. It's like the pressure works but not on the low end as I can't make a line sharp, it always ends up like this.

    By the way - When I first set up my Calligraphic 3x3 pressure brush and when I try to draw a line it looks like it's not being processed but it actually turns out with the right pressure, as it's supposed to be, but then when I get the real time processing (about half a minute later) and I can see the pressure while I am drawing the line I am getting these awful round lines.

    P.S. The device is not faulty as the pressure sensitivity works great in Photoshop and Clip Paint Studio and I get great sharp lines there with accurate pressure.

    Please help me, I want to continue using Illustrator, that's why I bought the Surface Pro 7 initially, but I just can't get the pressure to work right! All of the Surface Pro users are experiencing this same bug so it is a big issue and I hope that you manage to find a way to fix it with the information that I provided.
