  1. Create new documents with a 'Plus' button or a double-click in the document tabs area

    Document Tabs is a well-known paradigm, thanks to browsers.
    Since many of us spend a lot of time with browsers, we expect the same functionality form tabs’ headers in Illustrator.

    One of them is a middle-click to close a tab (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/38150188-add-middle-click-to-close-document), another is remember opened tabs on relaunch (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/44819065-launch-illustrator-with-the-same-opened-documents).
    There are others.

    But the most prominent one is the Plus button to the right (in LTR world) of the last tab, which creates a new document.

  2. Hitting Alt+Down does not open dropdown lists

    I expect Alt+Down to drop down focused lists with options inside, like Font Family / Style, Stroke Weight, etc.

    Sure, I understand it might conflict with duplicating, but in fact no, since Ai does not duplicate when a field is focused anyway. At the same time, it’s a common and expected behaviour in other applications.

  3. Place embedded pdf Link with Option to Convert all text as outlines

    When opening a pdf in illustrator, if the pdf contains fonts that are not installed on the system. it will ask to find the font. and substitute a system default. the vector data for that font is in the pdf. if you take the same pdf, place it as a link, then flatten transparency, you can select "Convert all text to outlines", I would like the option to select "Convert all text to outlines" when embedding a placed PDF, so all fonts will be outlines and show properly even if font is not shown. it would use pdf font data…

    • Ability to convert the outlined/expanded text back to live text.
    • Ability to lock objects to a character/glyph of a live text, allowing users to change the text (properties) while the object stays locked into the character.

  4. Search / Filter option in Find/Replace Font dialog

    Here is my problem. On InDesign when you do "Find/Replace font" you can select the missing font and then you can SEARCH and then replace the font. In Illustrator, the same method exists. BUT you cannot SEARCH... Why? Did I miss something?? Do I really have to scroll through the 4000 fonts to get to the one I want?
    Could we have the same panel on Illustrator as in InDesign?

  5. XMP Meta Data、MM:Historyの機能改善

    現在、IllustratorではXMPメタデータ上のHistoryの記述が最大で２個となっていて、初回保存時に１つ目、別名で保存時に２つ目が記述され、以降、別名で保存によるファイル派生が生じた時に２つ目のHistoryが更新される仕様になっています。
    Photoshopでは、このHistoryの項目に保存履歴だけではなくconvertやderived等の主要な編集イベントの情報も記述されます。InDesignにおいても保存イベントは詳細に記述され履歴の確認が可能になっています。
    Illustratorにおいても、もう少し細かく履歴情報の記述を行っていただきたい。

  6. STRUMENTO CONTAGOCCE E TESTI DI COLORE DIVERSO NELLO STESSO BOX

    Ho un box di testo con alcuni caratteri rossi ed alcuni caratteri neri.
    Voglio copiare tutte le specifiche di testo (font, ecc.) da un altro blocco di testo con lo strumento contagocce senza modificare i colori del box di destinazione.
    Vedo che dallo strumento contagocce ci sarebbe la possibilità di escludere/includere il rilevamento del colore, ma quando si applica al box di destinazione tutto il testo contenuto diventa di un unico colore....

  7. Vector Networks Like Figma Has

    In illustrator vector shapes can only go in one continuous path. If you wanted to draw a cube, it would take 3 shapes, perfectly aligned and 12 points, 6 of which would overlap.
    In a vector network a point can have multiple branches meaning that a cube could be one shape, with only 7 points (see image).
    This feature would eliminate the need for complex shape overlays to create simple compositions, like a cube.

  9. Prevent astronomic file size when using multiple copies of the same embedded image

    Allow copies of the same embedded image to have one source and not just copy when duplicating these images. Copy only when a change is made to a copy of the embedded image. I like to make multiple versions of some artwork that may contain a raster image embedded and when i copy that artwork it makes another copy of that unchanged embedded image along with the copied vectors, causing a significant increase in file size when that raster image is still the same. I could use linking but file management gets harder with absolute links. Either use the same…

  11. Artboard auto-naming preferences, one-click artboard with size dialog

    I often have to make documents with many artboards for various ad and social image sizes. Currently, one has to make these artboards, then hand-name them.

    I'd love a preference that would set new artboard names automatically to their widthxheight. This way, when exporting files one could use the prefix to export everything easily and skipping a lot of manual work. It could work a bit like the batch file export dialog, allowing you to "build" newly created artboard names based on filename, size, etc.

  12. Smart guide show projected extension of another line when hovering

    This is a basic feature in CAD programs. When you are using the pen or line tools, you need to be able to hover over the end point of a line, and then snap the cursor to that line's hypothetical extension, so you can start a new line on that extension, so that each point you make can be co-linear with another.

  13. More Text Frame & Type options like: Inset Spacing, Auto Fit, Columns and Bullet & Num Lists

    I highly appraise adding the much needed Vertical Text Alignment feature from indesign to Illustrator. While they are at it I would like to request more Text Frame & Type features to be migrated over from Indesign. Like Inset Spacing, Auto Fit, Columns and Bullet & Numbered Lists .

    Why? Due to Illustrator having more flexible and abundant creativity oriented vector design features I often pick Illustrator over Indesign to create single page designs like flyers or posters. Having more control over type would speed up the design workflow significantly. Lack of Type control is the only thing that causes…

  14. Export Artboards as PowerPoint or Keynote slides

    I like using Illustrator to design complexe slides or icons, illustrations… for my slides and I’d like to export them by maintaining vector capabilities to have the ability in PowerPoint or Keynote to change their color and to scale them freely.

    I know plug-ins or some export format will somehow works for some cases.
    But it will be so nice to have a straight forward export!

  15. Have a panel that shows info and keyboard modifiers for the current tool

    All Adobe applications are quite complex beasts, and what all the tools do and particularly what holding different modifiers or keys do can be quite arcane.

    I imagine a panel you can have open on the side, and it will show information and the modifier options for the currently active tool.

    For instance for the Star tool, it can say what Shift, Option and Command keys do, and that you can press Arrow Up and Arrow Down to increase the number of points as you drag.

    Pro users can keep the panel closed, but it can really help new users…

  16. Change the Separations Preview panel to behave like it does in InDesign

    Can you change the Separations Preview panel in Illustrator to behave just like it does in InDesign? The Separations Preview panel in InDesign shows the percentage of each color separation when you hover over an area of the artwork, and includes the Ink Limit option. Both of those features would be extremely useful in Illustrator.

    Please add a words count in Illustrator. In Indesign this is also a missing feature (at lest for the whole document) but I see it has been already requested...in Illustrator it would be more than welcome.

  18. Make the eyedropper appear with the Brush / Blob Brush tool selected by holding the Alt / Option key

    With the Brush or Blob Brush tool selected, make the Eyedropper appear by holding down the Opt / Alt key. This would allow colors within the document to be sampled just like in Photoshop, without having to keep selecting from the swatches.

  20. Allow Batch Actions to work on all open files

    Batch Actions can work on a folder of files but not all open files. Photoshop can do this, why not Illustrator?
