1. Enclosed Selection mode should work in isolation using the correct scope

   Illustrator today allows to make Enclosed Selection Mode a permanent option, with with the Select Objects only within Marquee option, in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display, as was requested here and in a separate request at http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/49503929

   But I still can’t use it fully today.
   I isolate often, and Selection tool does not allow to use Enclosed mode when isolated. For some strange reason it requires the Group Selection tool to do so, as if my scope stays at the document level, and I’m no in isolation! Make Selection tool work in Enclosed mode in isolation, please.

2. Allow Recent Colors to include tints for global and spot swatches

   Illustrator allows tinting non-process swatches.
   However, recently introduced Recent Colors strips in Color and Swatches panels don’t include these.

3. Dynamic Bezier Stroke Corner Join

   Illustrator offers 3 types of stroke corner joins: Miter, Round, Bevel (same 3 as Offset Path filter/effect do).

   Miter one just extends the edges of a stroke with straight lines and then cuts the pointy portion off according to Miter Limit value. This works in a majority of cases when we need a sharp corner, but when curvy segments meet at an angle... the straight join becomes obvious.

   Meanwhile, Ai has Join Tool.
   Here, at the left side of the image a result of expanding a stroke, with a straight mitered join is rather obvious.
   So I select the point where the straight segments meet, delete it, and then use the Joint Tool to... well, to join them, following the natural Bezier extensions of the segments.

   This gives me a better looking smoother join, with no obvious 'ah, that's a thick stroke expanded'. I can use this method when I have a handful of these... but it’s not convenient to treat hundreds of these, expanding your artwork.

   Another solution would be to use inside/outside stroke alignment...
   But:
   1. it still doesn’t work for open paths — http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/33963553 (100 votes!)
   2. it won’t be helpful anyway if sharp connections happen from both sides of a line, both at inside and outside one

   So — please introduce the fourth type of a stroke corner join. Make it fall back to just simple Miter if the curvature of the lines doesn’t allow for them to meet properly (or cheat by changing the curvature just a bit).

4. Enable continuous work while generating vector graphics

   Currently, when generating a vector graphic within Adobe Illustrator, the entire application becomes unresponsive for approximately 30 seconds (or longer, depending on complexity). This forces users to wait idly without being able to continue their work, significantly disrupting workflow, concentration, and productivity.

   I request that Adobe implement a background processing feature that would allow users to continue drawing, editing, or performing other tasks within Illustrator while vector graphics are being generated in the background.

5. Rotate bounding box only

   It’s similar to a request to do it on iPad I made: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/931888/suggestions/46244521

   Ditto.
   Ai should give us a mode to freely rotate the bounding box the way we need, to zero or any angle.
   There should be a way to quickly align it to a chosen straight segment or even a point.

   Affinity Designer has a feature that can be used for this purpose, Select > Cycle / Set Selection Box — even though it doesn’t exactly does the same thing.
   There are also two plugin methods to achieve this in Ai today:
   1. ToolShed plugin by Graffix: https://rj-graffix.com/product/toolshed/ (it introduces a separate tool for transforming, to avoid dealing with Ai’s bugged accumulated rotation — the tool allows to 'visually set the bounding box angle in order to stretch the art along any angle you choose')
   2. Bounding Box Tool by Totallypic: https://totallypic.com/digital-downloads/categories/plugins (not sure though it’s still available separately now, the developer intended to include it in their larger IllustKit plugin)

6. PDF stroke and fill shape should be imported as a single object, not two separate objects

   PDF stroke and fill shape should be imported as a single object. Currently Illustrator parses such shapes as two objects: fill, stroke. This behaviour can be seen when exporting as PDF in Illustrator (without AI editing capabilities) and importing it again.

   Note: This seems to be caused by incorrect handling of B and B* PDF operators (fill + stroke in one object).

7. Control which tool is activated by the eraser end of my stylus

   I do all my work with a drawing stylus and have never found the native Eraser tool to be useful. Instead I use Astute's Opacity Brush, which lets you quickly paint opacity masks for the selected objects.

   I'd love to be able to access it by flipping my stylus over and eraser-clicking, but that only gets the Eraser tool.

   Before the Opacity Brush came up I've had other thoughts for this - how about assigning the eraser end of the stylus to your favorite selection tool instead of constantly hitting hotkeys to switch to and from it, for instance?

8. Highlight the current color in Recent Colors section, just as in Swatches

   I love Recent Colors. Can you please make it so that selecting an object highlights its color in the Recent Colors section, the same way it does in Swatch Tiles?

10. Share for Review - Ability for teams to update links

    Currently in InDesign and Illustrator, the person that created a review link is the only one able to update the review link. There are times when another person on my team needs to update a file and send an updated review link, but to do so, they have to create a copy of the file and make a brand new link. This is a bit tedious and doesn't keep the history of comments, which we sometimes need to refer back to. I would like to suggest the ability to allow teams on Create Cloud to be able to work on the same files together and update the same review links.

    Currently in InDesign and Illustrator, the person that created a review link is the only one able to update the review link. There are times when another person on my team needs to update a file and send an updated review link, but to do so, they have to create a copy of the file and make a brand new link. This is a bit tedious and doesn't keep the history of comments, which we sometimes need to refer back to. 12. Allow to exclude handles from being snapped to grid

    I remember it being a bug, when handles were not snapping to grid... but sometimes it’s actually useful! Currently we have to undo, disable the grid, and tweak the handle.
    There should either be a hard option we can toggle (preferably with an ability to assign it to a hotkey), or a hotkey to toggle this behavior on the fly, the one we can tap while dragging and disable snapping for this operation only... or both!

13. Allow to actually drag-n-drop swatches on canvas to create a Swatch Info object

    Please allow to create these with the actual drag-n-drop!
    Make it so we can hold a modifier key while doing this to have a dialog (and do it silently by default instead).
    Allow to add dragged swatches into the existing Swatch Info objects, highlight the exact positions these are going to be added, on canvas.

14. Allow to create Swatch Info object using a hotkey

    Currently to create a Swatch Info object you need to dive into the Swatches panel’s flyout menu and locate a command. We need a way to assign a hotkey to this.

15. Allow to copy the area value from the Info panel

    Why can we copy a HEX color from the Color panel, but can’t copy the area of it (or any other value as well)?

    In some cases we need to get the value to share with someone, and now Ai wants us to retype it.

    Sometimes we also need these to be placed on canvas — but I think it’s a job for the Dimension tool? Why Measure and Dimension are different tools in the first place?

16. Remove quantization / rounding for the Curvature tool

    Curvature tool is handy, but it places new points based on a hidden grid. The grid is screen-spaced, and it means the step of it stays the same on the screen, no matter what level of zoom we have.

    Once a point is places and the mouse button / pen is released, we can move this point freely, with no rounding!
    Why can’t we have this behavior for new points? Why limit new points in precision?

17. Allow Illustrator to remain in native file mode after saving to PDF

    Currently, saving a PDF from Illustrator keeps the saved PDF open in Illustrator. If you edit the file that is still open, you're editing the PDF and not the native Illustrator file. It is difficult to see that you're working in PDF other than just remembering that Illustrator does this (when other Adobe apps do not), and/or to look at the extension on the file tab.

    Feature request is to change this function so that Illustrator remains open in the same Illustrator file format instead of switching to working in the saved PDF via Illustrator. This would be similar to InDesign's function of saving PDF, where saving a PDF just saves a PDF copy out of InDesign, and you remain in the native InDesign file. Thanks!

18. Always call guides as 'guides'

    Open Layers and Control panels.

    Enable rulers and drag a guide from one.
    Take a look at how the selected guide is called:
    — <Guide> in Layers
    — Path in Control

    Now create a rectangle and a line, and also draw a path with the Pencil.
    Convert all three to guides with View > Guides > Make Guides (Cmd/Ctrl + 5).
    Compare the names:
    — <Rectangle> and <Line> but <Guide> in Layers
    — Rectangle and Line but Path in Control

    Sure, these first two are technically live shapes (and have dedicated controls in Control)... but also are guides. Why Ai is inconsistent with it? Why aren’t some guides thus named as 'guides'?

    I can’t say a guide dragged from the ruler is NOT a path, it is, and it has its length limited to the canvas, and can be dragged sideways or converted into a simple path, or a live line (that’s why this request about making guides to behave more like in InDesign exists: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/37211029).

    But again, why are these called guides (while being paths), but manually converted paths change their names in Layers only when aren’t live shapes?

19. Add Fresco Vector Brush technology into Illustrator

    Not sure why this still hasn't happened yet, but the vector brush in Fresco is superior to any of the vector brushes Illustrator currently provides for traditional style drawing/inking. Be great to have it for desktop vector drawing. Especially if there aren't' any intentions of bringing Fresco into OSX...
