Copy and Pase Layer with sorted and named sublayer looses all the structure after pasting.
Keep the layer structure that is copied and paste it in the same structure after pasting into new location.

Rename artboards and layers easily
Please develop a method to easily rename artboards and layers. An option to switch between layers by pressing tab would be great. An option to find and replace text in artboard names would be perfect.
At the moment renaming artboards is a time consuming process because you have to doubleclick every artboard separately and enter text.3 votesAi now support pressing Tab while renaming difference items in panels, including layers, artboards, symbols, etc.
Find and Replace in names is not yet an option, but there are many free scripts that allow that.

Menu Item Move Between Creative Cloud Apps
Suggest adding a menu selected item to navigate between CC apps. When working in AI and need to move image to PS there is no shortcut for this. Moving between Plugins is way easer. May be include a menu selected or button to quickly move the image.

Overwriting Existing Workspaces and Toolbars
If I wanted to update my custom Workspace, I can create a new Workspace and give it the same name as before. When I do that, I am warned that the name already exists, and that clicking 'OK' will overwrite the old one. This is great. But if I try the same process for updating a custom Toolbar, it makes me choose another name. Then I have to remember where these files are stored in the Finder, go to that location, delete the old Toolbar, and rename the new one. Please make the process for updating an existing Toolbar as…

Liquid Page Layout (Artboards)
I would love a "liquid Layout" feature like InDesign has for more easily converting artwork and pages sizes simultaneously.
There are many times I create posters on a 11x17 artboard and need to easily reduce the art and page sizes to 5x7 for flyers.
InDesign has had this feature for a long time and I feel it would definitely be useful to my workflow.12 votes -
Disable Layer Search in Layers Window

Please allow for disabling the layer search function. The Layers window search field randomly activates, especially when opening new files from a template and when opening exitisting files to make revisions. This is incredibly frustrating. For example; when I open a file and try to select the type tool by hitting the T key, I just end up typing a line of T's in the layer search bar. 3D & Materials: separate colour/material for extrusion
Please introduce the ability to apply separate colour and material to the extruded part of a 3D shape. There are multiple examples where such a feature would immensely help recreating real world objects. For example: laser cut plywood (burned edges, parallel to the surface), slice of bread, etc. Basically, any cut object which interior is different to its surface.

Star Tool: include center/origin lines
This would be a small addition, but one that I think would be valued. All regular stars (that is, not "fun" stars whose inner circle radius has been enlarged to make them "puffy") are made up either of:
- A repeated/rotated shape
- A single line bouncing off the outer diameter that eventually meets itself again
It would be a nice addition to this tool for those "origin lines" to be represented in the output so that we can more easily create art based on those lines instead of having to re-create the lines manually.

The generative fill has disappeared
The generative fill has disappeared. When I asked about this before someone had replied that it only works in a certain version. Which is it?

Add a way to resize an exported image with Export As method to a specific size, like Save for Web can
In the old "Save for Web" function (please keep it!) it was possible to resize "on the fly" the destination image (EG my file is 8000 px but I can save an exported version of 800 without opening and resizing afterwards)
In the "Export as.." function none of this is possible.2 votes -
Progress bar for the new Smooth tool
I love the new smooth tool! When it comes to contour lines in a map, It perform so much better than the simplify tool. The only problem is that when I smooth lines in large documents, Illustrator freezes but the cpu is on fire so I'm not sure if it's working or if Illustrator needs to be force quitted.
Therefore I propose a progress bar for that tool which appears after one has moved the Smoothing slider.

Kindly add a bucket tool.
I am facing issues with filling in shapes with paint brush tool, let alone the fact that is very time consuming. Hence, adding a bucket tool would facilitate for all designers and Adobe Illustrator users while coloring. A bucket tool will be a breakthrough.

Reduce / Extend path effect
Like in After Effects, it would be very useful to have an effect or an option in the Stroke panel like the "reduce path" animation option to draw more complex strokes (instead of duplicate them), like in the RubberHose plug-in. Could be useful to draw characters or set up files to export to AE.

Synchronise tiled windows
I would like to have all tiled windows use the same panning and zoom settings as the window I am currently working in.
• How it's working now: each tiled window has its own zoom factor. Panning with the hand tool moves the view inside the active window.
• How it should work: zoom and panning are synched between all tiled windows. They all have the same zoom factor and X/Y position. If I zoom in the active window, all other windows zoom in as well; if I pan in one window, all other windows pan in the same manner.…

It would be great to be able to EXPORT WORKSPACES so as to keep a backup copy of them.

GRID in BACK/FRONT button
It would be great to have the option of GRID ON BACK and GRID IN FRONT in the Properties panel, for example. near the SHOW GRID button as when working with GRIDS sometimes it's better to have them in front and others in back and for this I have always to get into the Preferences panel so as to activate/deactivate this option and it's really annoying...

Select Compound Shapes by visible parts only
When working with Compound Shapes, I don't' want to 'feel' the original paths which in many cases cover paths beneath.
Make it work like a Clipping Mask.
