Don’t hide Repeat controls for small or zoomed out objects
Illustrator only displays controls for repeat objects when it’s enough screen space, it seems. But when we are zoomed out or the object is just small, and there is still enough space to put these in, we get nothing.
Even when there’s almost no space to fit controls at the box, some other apps draw them next to it, with connectors.
Meanwhile Ai still chokes us with corner widgets on zoomed out objects, and there is now way to hide them. Here is a request: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/43661631
Please make a way for us to control these and other similar controls and choose when there is a limit on our own, somewhere in Preferences.

Split 'Select and Unlock objects on canvas' into two options: Unlock Widgets and Allow to Select Locked Objects
There is a 'Select and Unlock objects on canvas' option in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display section, which allows to display small unlock widgets for the locked objects we can click to unlock (this is fairly similar to what InDesign has).
It also allows us to 'select' several locked objects or unlock them all or only some of them, using a context menu (this is something InDesign does NOT have!)
(I put this in quotes because no real selection happens — the objects don’t get marked with the square selection markers in Layers panel and Locate command does nothing).
And there is a bigger problem...
Having these 'selected' means we can’t truly select anything that is UNDER these!
So we have to choose — either to have a functionality to unlock with a click or click-to-select-under :/But perhaps this can be split into two options, one for having unlock widgets and another one (dependent on the parent option) — to allow selection?
Please take a look at it.

Make Polygon tool dialog offer to set a shape by its Side Length

Placed Image Scale Percentage
We desperately need a way to tell the percentage scale of a placed image — or more specifcally, a set of placed images — in Illustrator. A perfect example of this is when you have a set of icons that are all designed at the same size relative to each other, with the same stroke widths. If you place 20 of them on the artboard, it's easy to accidentally have some slightly larger than others, and trying to normalize the scale is darned near impossible because there is ABSOLUTELY NO INDICATION ANYWHERE as to the scale that they're placed at.

New Tool Suggestion: Color Harmony Tool
I hope this message finds you well. I'm writing to propose the development of a new Color Harmony Tool for Adobe Illustrator. As a designer who frequently uses Illustrator for creating artwork, I believe such a tool would greatly enhance the creative process by facilitating better color combinations and harmonies.
Problem: Illustrators and designers often face challenges in selecting and maintaining color harmonies within Adobe Illustrator. While the existing color tools are robust, they could benefit from integrated features specifically tailored for creating and managing color harmonies.
Proposed Solution: Introduce a dedicated Color Harmony Tool that offers:
Predefined Color Schemes: Access to classic color harmony rules such as complementary, triadic, analogous, and more.
Customizable Harmonies: Ability to create and save custom color palettes based on user-defined harmony rules.
Real-time Preview: Instant visualization of how selected colors interact within the artwork.Benefits:
Enhanced Creativity: Facilitates exploration and application of harmonious color schemes, fostering more aesthetically pleasing designs.
Improved Efficiency: Streamlines the color selection process with intuitive tools that save time and effort.
Consistency: Helps maintain color consistency across projects and ensures cohesive design outcomes.Implementation Details:
The tool could be integrated into Illustrator's Color panel or as a standalone feature, accessible from the toolbar.
Compatibility with Illustrator's existing color management tools to ensure seamless integration and user familiarity. Conclusion: By incorporating a Color Harmony Tool into Adobe Illustrator, you would provide designers with a powerful resource for creating visually compelling artwork while enhancing workflow efficiency.
Thank you for considering this proposal. I believe this tool would greatly benefit Illustrator users and contribute to Adobe's continued leadership in creative software innovation.

Multiple Libraries Open and Docked as panels at the same time
Right now we can only have 1 library open at once in illustrator. Please make it so we can have multiple libraries open at the same time similar to the way we can have multiple swatch libraries open at the same time...

Allow to set up Viewing options for PDF exported, like InDesign does
Do you think we could have Viewing options added as implemented in InDesign?

Menu and Tool UI text, sliders, buttons and fields should be easier to click. larger clickable area around each tool options.
The clickable area of many UI elements are smaller than they appear making the process tedious an needlessly taxing.
In my pic my cursor is clearly inside the opacity field but I cannot yet activate it. As it is currently design, I need to be unnecessarily precise. Makes no sense.
The entire UI could stay the same size but clickable areas should become larger.
Text based buttons like opacity should be treaded like buttons with a large clickable area (opacity in a box with ample padding). There would only be improvements to the UX, no downsides.

Actual Status Bar instead of Spinning Beach Ball
When working with larger images or complex art I can imagine that Illustrator or macOS need caching or need to write temp files somewhere.
I work in the sign business so we work with very large images frequently, for car wraps or large wall art for instance.
Often the infamous Spinning Beach Ball appears when moving or copying fairly large images. This can take several minutes.
It would be nice to have an actual status bar instead of the Spinng Beach Ball so that we can see what Illustrator is actually doing and how long it would take to finish its tasks.
In the enclosed screen recording the cursor is a Spinning Beach Ball — this doesn't show however and I don't know how to record it.
The length of this screen recording (about a minute) is representative of how long this process takes; often it takes longer to waait until it is finished.
There's no clue of what Illustrator actually is doing. I just have to wait until it is ready so I can continue working, until the Spinnng Beach Ball starts again.
As a sidenote, we don't see the spinning macOS beach ball when doing some light work. Mostly, it happens when working with large images — I understand that Illustrator is not a dedicated image editor.

Add metric units in 3D
When generating 3D, even if 2D path could be very precise in dimension, the 3D volume is most often expressed in proportion (from 0 to 100%)
When you try to export for 3D printing it could be more usable to be able to express in metric units...

Add Enclosed mode for Lasso tool (for full objects)
建议增强或调整“E选择模式”。
目前的“E选择模式”非常棒,但是当选择复杂背景上的对象时存在不足。
选择工具(V):“E选择模式”是在拖动后触发,拖动就会移动点击对象,可以考虑调整为鼠标按下时,按下“E键”进入选择模式(不选择点击对象,只选择选框内的对象),原因是选择工具无法在非锁定的对象上拖动选择(锁定复杂背景也不是一件容易的事情),只能把选择工具移动到背景外再拖动选择,这会增加选择范围,有时候会把不需要选择的对象选中;
另外,可以考虑套索工具增加“E选择模式”,因为套索工具可以在任意对象上拖动选择。4 votes -

Can we have nicer gradient when we use spot color to gradient?
Look like the tone was mixed with desaturated tone at the middle part when we use pantone / spot colour we created.
When we output to print, the desaturated tone is still visible.
Attached the screenshot for your reference. Thank you!4 votes -

Trigger "view guides" when adding one from rulers
Hey everyone, this might be a little request coming from a silly designer, let me explain :
When I was using illustrator guides lately, I found something that bugged me out, I tried to drag a new guide from the "rulers" on the corner of the canvas, I placed it where I wanted to, and to my surprise it wasn't showing, then I quickly remembered the "show guides" option inside the "view" tab was on "hide".
Of course it displayed every guide that I previously dragged in when I switched it to "show", but speaking in UX terms, it should be ideal to trigger 'show guides' option whenever this one is the opposite whilst adding a new guide from the rulers like is shown on the pictures below, freshers in illustrator could get lost easily ! (Speaking from personal experience lol )
Best Regards,
Tamir - UX/UI Student

Locked Object as Key Object
It would be very helpful to have the option to enable a locked object to be selected as a key object. I would make aligning object workflows to be slightly more efficient.

Allow to zoom pattern swatches on right click hold, like we can do in Graphics Styles
Patterns can we very detailed, and we can have some pattern variants that don’t differ much from each other. Even when we choose to have Large Thumbnail View in Swatches, it doesn’t really help much to distinguish these.
It’d be useful if we could do the same thing as Graphic Styles panel does — to click and hold a right mouse button to view a giant thumbnail of the clicked pattern.
The only difference would be that styles are displayed applied to the selected objects, while there is no such need for patterns — a simple square thumbnail will do.

Rename Unembed to Unembed All when several images are selected
A command in the Links panel’s flyout menu allows us to Unembed an image, when it’s selected.
It’d be great if the name of the command change into 'Unembed All...' when several embedded images are selected. Also mentioned here: https://x.com/DTP_Transit/status/1742338384302149796?s=20
