Transparency mask not displaying correctly, exporting error
When using transparency mask, strange bars of masked areas appear in the artwork. This error occurs in when I export the graphic as a jpeg, etc.

OMG I'm not alone, I was flattening them or rasterizing them in illustrator and that seem to work until today. I had a issue with the opacity mask turning dark on me. anyone have any more ideas?

so ive found a long way around this problem. i was trying to export AI's as BMP's but kept getting a Transparent area at the top of the image which I think is called a bounding box. I discovered that if you save the image as a PNG and select "use artboards" then this saves the image without the transparent area.
you cant select artboards when saving as BMP directly hence this process.
Then re-open all the new png files, and export again to bmp files. Unfortunately this takes a while but it got the job done without having to crop or mess about with the images.

Same issue here! Working on a brand new iMac. Exporting jpegs from Illustrator does not render correctly.
Same bars as you are having.
