PDF file objects and font look different than in the .ai file
Hello!
I am having an issue with Illustrator that no one from Adobe could fix so far after several tries and more than a few weeks. I have recently been working on a batch of packages (both in CC 2017 and CC 2018) and every time I save the .ai to PDF (any of the versions 6,5,4 etc.) some strange things happen (sometimes all of them, sometimes only one):
- the font seems bolder than it actually looks in the .ai file (even if it is converted to outlines or not) - img 11 - 13 (from 2 different files started from 0)
- if I have a table, some lines look thicker than the others even if it is one object, not groupped (img 8, 9)
- the strokes are thicker (img 14, 15)
I have attached some screenshots so that you can have a better understanding of what I mean. Everything that looks bolder is how it looks in the PDF file, the others are in the original.
I have tried removing the background, converting the image to jpeg, png, I made the strokes even thinner and the outcome is the exact same one.
Considering that not one person from Adobe was able to fix this issue I am assuming this has to be a bug because I have the exact same issue with newly created files too. I have been working with Illustrator CC 2017 the whole year and I only started having those issues at the beginning of November 2017.
Have a nice day and here's to hoping this gets fixed.

same problem, probably just in the PDF viewer but it always disappoints me. It looks so refined in illustrator and then heavy handed in the PDF viewer.

I think I figure out why!!!
That might be because - you are logged out ot the Adobe Cloud Suite when you try to save the file.I met the same issue, I checked every font setting in Illustrator and everything looks fine.
Also, in Illustrator, everything looks great! But when it exports as PDF, the font just change... No idea!!!
Then I realize... I was logged out of the Adobe Cloud when I try to save my .AI file into PDF.
Since I'm still able to continue using Illustrator with no question. The app didn't stop my current used software.
But... I am just not able to save the file as same as what I see it in Illustrator...Hope this helps!

It is likely just a visual problem in the PDF viewer (whatever your using).
You can check this by exporting to PDF and zoom in/out and see the lines/text change in weird ways sometimes (bold/italic/thickness and sometimes in just some parts/words/letters).Best test is to do a sample print and be sure. Which should be done either way before mass production.
Good luck.

I have the same problem. So you say it doesn't look thickened in print?

UPDATE: We printed some of the packages to see if the visuals carry through to the physical object and they did not. So could this be a bug inside the PC related to Illustrator?
