Art Brush Rotation doesn’t work with pan and tablet
I'll have someone describe the issue from 2010. 9 years later this issue still persists. I am having the exact same issue but instead of it not working in Photoshop (which is works perfectly fine in) I am having this issue in Illustrator.
"I´m using a Wacom Art Pen to control
the angle of the brushes by the rotation of the pen.
When I first tried a Bristle Brush, I was really happy that I was able to rotate the brush cursor with my pen.. but when I started painting, the brush stopped rotating
and stayed in the initial direction.
Even worse: The normal brushes are still as static as in the previous Photoshop versions.
By not showing the rotation of the brush, it is really hard to set an precise brush stroke
with the right angle.
Am I missing something, it is a bug or is Adobe still planning not to change this disadvantage?
Best regards,
Florian"

@Randy Burke - THANK YOU! I was going nuts trying to create a new art brush. I was making it vertical (as I had seen in a tutorial) but for some reason EVERY time I set the direction to run parallel to the line I made, Illustrator made it perpendicular. I finally rotated the object I was using as my brush 90 degrees as you mentioned, and it worked! Now the brush follows the direction I specified when setting it up.

I've seen this issue when a brush is created vertically. It seems that vertical-ness takes over any brush direction given to it. The only fix I've found is to take the actual items you organized into a brush, rotate THEM 90 degrees and make THAT a brush. For me, that's fixed things in the past. Hope it helps! This worked as a work-a-round. suggested by S. Gans

Hello, I have the same issue. In fact I am learning AI because CorelDRAW does not support the 6d pen at all except in CorelPainter which I do not use. I truly hope this very useful pen has not been relegated to gimmick before I have even had a chance to exploit it whatsoever. I am so thankful that Adobe Illustrator has been thoughtful enough to flip the switch on this feature; it makes zero sense not to. It is very starnge that the 6D Pen brush set does not offer a preview of the brushes orientation and angle just as well or better then the bristle brushes, especially given how simple they are. I have a workflow that seems very desirable to me based upon this pen and my ability to create new brushes for it but can find slim to no information about it. If you read this I am just wondering if you have found any means of even remotely meeting your expectations with this untapped device? It is really hard to believe after all this time that there are not some diehard fans and some sort of commitment to finish what was started. I would really like to find a way to pick up the ball and at the very least create some useful brush packs or something; we just need a little help from the big boys.

Hi
Can you please share your system info with us. As this is not a generic problem and it would help us to reproduce the issue at our end.
Thanks
