Transparency on PNG not supported when imported or replaced
Transparency mask on the png file shows as white when imported or replaced into illustrator data created last week.
Transparency on the original png file on the illustrator is intact. The problem is seen only when the new png file is uploaded.
I thought it may be the png file, but the problem occurs only on the illustrator.
The problem started after updating both Photoshop 2019 and Illustrator 2019.

Is this still a problem for you in latest releases?
Does it happen for all PNGs or a specific one?
If the latter — can you share it here? -

When I import a png image to illustrator (without background), illustrator is creating a white background on my png file and I can't get a transparent background. If anybody has any suggestion? Thank you.

From time to time, when importing larger transparent PNG images into illustrator on the iPad, the imported image appears on a white background instead of transparent. I can import the same image into Photoshop and Procreate without issues.
