Technically, the filtering gets applied only to the font browser dropdown, so it is correct... On the other hand, having these not in sync is confusing and misleading, making one think these weight are currently available. The team should think of a way to mark deactivated variants in the simpler dropdown.
Then again, having these just disabled (without a way to enable them) can be treated as a problem...
and not displaying them at all (after all, this is a simple dropdown, it doesn’t have any notification about a filter being active) can trick users into thinking the font has only limited weights...Not as simple as it seems. Anyway, voted.
