SVGs from Photoshop or Illustrator are wonky
I submitted a bug as part of a crash report within the past week regarding Illustrator's inability to export a clean SVG—it seems to always add padding that isn't necessary or wanted and makes issues for our web programmer. I'm on macOS Sierra using the latest CC version of Illustrator. I have to now rebuild my AI graphic (copy my shapes in as shape layers) in PS and then export that as SVG to get a clean SVG.
But here's where inconvenient gets weird. I'll open the PS-made SVG in AI, make some edits to clean up some off-positioned points and save. If I open that SVG again, the points are off again, but differently so. Then I fix it again and save. I open it a third time and again it's off. But even stranger is the fact that by the time I open it the fourth time the changes have finally stuck and things look right. I definitely saved each time.
Conclusions:
Please correct AI so that it exports a clean SVG with no extra padding. And yes, I did try multiple ways to get a clean one out of AI (by using an artboard perfectly aligned to the graphic's boundaries; by trying the Assets Exports panel; by making sure my shape had no invisible/empty objects grouped to it, etc.).
Please fix AI's ability to save changes in an edited SVG.
