There is an annoying bug in the export or save as... SVG, when the artwork contains devanagari script.
I attach to this post 3 screenshots of a very simple artwork made of 1 background picture and 2 texts, one in Hindi, the other one in French. The fonts used are the beautiful Adobe Devanagari fonts (bold and bold-italic).
I have used either save as... or export as... and reopened them in Illustrator, with different results, then made a copy of my screen..
If you open the 3 files for example in Photoshop, you will see that they are all different!!! The devanagari text is shifted and characters are modified and become unreadable. Even the French sentence is slightly modified (position of the question mark).
The only solution is to open the SVG file in Dreamweaver and copy/paste the text from Microsoft Word... Not really straightforward!
Thank you to correct this bug, which lasts for years.
Please note, that, of course, all Indic options are selected in the menus of Illustrator (general settings) and specific to the artwork.
