Direct selection tool appears to move whole object until mouse release
When part of an object is selected using the direct selection tool (selection tool and holding 'V' key down) the whole object appears to move to the new position until the mouse is released, at which point all the unselected points snap back to their original position. I'm assuming this is a bug and not intended?

I have the exact same problem. This happens when I'm using the Selection tool while holding CTRL to use the Direct selection tool. It does not happen when I use the Direct selection tool by pressing A, but I never do that and only use the shortcut with CTRL.

It does. Now I see what you mean. It's also strange how you can keep holding the mouse but release the Cmd/Ctrl and see how Ai stops redrawing the partial movement completely after one attempt (if it does make a sense to you).
Somewhat similar behaviour can be noticed with copying with Alt held – you have to move art at least pixel away to start seeing the original position of the object being dragged.
Yep, this better be addressed, although it's not that terrible. -

Sorry, My fault, Have no idea why I said 'v' key - I actually meant command Key!!
The 'v' key is the quick key to select the selection tool!!
Holding the command key down toggles between selection and direct selection doesn't it? -
Russel, this looks weird. Why does the toolbox always have p
the Plain Selection tool picked, when you are using the Direct Selection one?
Why do you say you hold the V key down? What's a point of holding it and what do you expect to achieve by doing that?
And nope, I can't replicate it so far, with or without V being held... Please elaborate further.
