"unknown filter error" when importing variables which have multiple links within the document
"unknown filter error" when importing variables which have multiple links within the document.
Reproduce:
1. make a document with variables. I have a mix of image and text but I don't think it matters.
link multiple document objects to one variable, as is allowed within illustrator
try to update the variable library with a CSV that has the same structure just different values (average use case)
You should get a dialog warning that variable sets need to be overwritten blah blah click ok and then the error pops up. Probably forgot a nested loop would be my completely uneducated guess.

Right, Hector. It is still an issue. A one-to-many relationship between variables and objects seems to only work except when attempting to save or load them. When saving to XML (the only format supported for saving), the section which declared the variable is saved incorrectly, though everything else seems fine. In the variable declarations, some variables are omitted while others are duplicated. It's easy enough to fix manually and overcome the error message, "The incoming variable library is invalid." When attempting to load the library, it will progress to the confirmation stage, asking if it is okay to replace/overwrite existing variable values. However, after confirming, I get the error, "The filter cannot complete because of an unknown error."
So, now I am wondering if Illustrator ever officially supported this one-to-many relationship between variables and objects, which I, and apparently others, have been using.

I'm encountering this exact same thing. Trying to set up my file so that multiple text boxes in my layout can update at once from a spreadsheet that my client updates every few days. I get this error when I try to reload the CSV.
Only a single text box is linked to a variable? Load works fine. Multiple text boxes linked to a variable? Doesn't work.
