Annoying popup windows in toolbar
I just got a new computer and had to go to Illustrator 28 (Mac OS 12.7.1). Now nearly every time I want to draw an object or move something around, I get an annoying box full of options. It would be fine if the boxes came up on a right click, but I don't need to see them every darn time. I looked in Preferences but none of the obvious choices made them go away. After many years of Illustrator I know what the options are... I could also do without the automatic "Lorem ipsum" text, but that's relatively minor. I'm sure you know what boxes I mean, but attached is one just in case. Thanks.

It can be something else, but the hardware should be checked first here.
BTW, if you don’t want to get 'Lorem ipsum' to be used when you create a new text, you can disable it in Preferences > Type: Fill New Type Object With Placeholder Text.

Hi Egor, It could be a mouse problem, mine is elderly - it worked with the previous version, but who knows. I will find another mouse and see how it goes. Thanks for the quick reply.

Barbara, these dialog get opened usually when we press Enter, or when we click a canvas with a tool picked, or double-click the tool button. If you don’t have problems with a keyboard, or your touchpad’s sensitivity, it should not pop.
Do you use a pen, or a mouse, or a touchpad?
Can you make a short video to demonstrate the behavior?
