Brush palette inconsistent with Direct Selection Tool
I select a path drawn with the brush tool using Direct Select then click another brush. Sometimes the brush is applied to the path, sometimes it isn't, although the brush is shown to have changed as expected in the brush palette.
If the brush is not applied as described, when I deselect the path and select it again it reverts to showing the original brush.
I'm sure this has happened since the latest update (28.1, 64 bit, Win 10). I work with brush tool a lot and this is introducing a lot of irritation and wasted time to my projects.

Hello again
I've managed to capture the behaviour here- it is intermittent so I don't think the problem occurs every time in this clip (and at one point I accidentally drag brushes around instead of selecting).https://clipchamp.com/watch/rx86lKaYkM7
After it occurs, 'apply brush' doesn't appear in History.

Thank you, I'll look into the circumstances when I'm next working on the project and get back to you. I did explore using 'plain Selection' and haven't been able to replicate this issue with that.

Also — does it ever happen if you are using just plain Selection and not the Direct Selection tool?

Can’t reproduce it yet, using nor 28.1 or Beta 28.2.0.58.
Does it happen for all brush types or specific ones only, like art brushes and/or scatter/pattern brushes?
How consistently it fails?
Does History panel reflects 'Apply Brush' step when you do it?
Can you try to catch it on video next time it happens, please?
