    So you mean that if you grab a JPEG that gets placed fine, rename it to a .JPG, Ai throws this error?
    Can you please share an example of such a file, please?
    Just in case also: what is your OS specifically and the Ai build you are using? Does it matter if you place it in an RGB or a CMYK doc?
