Copying selection in Layers panel no longer works
Illustrator 29.5.1 on Mac Mini M4 running Sequoia 15.4.1: Dragging the colored square in the Layers panel from one layer to another with the Option key pressed no longer copies the selection to the new layer. It just moves it to the new layer.

Settings would not stick after downgrading to 29.5, so I upgraded back to 29.5.1, where they now stick again.

It operates correctly after I installed Version 29.5, so the latest version breaks it. However, I don't recall anything about keeping my preferences, so lost all of them. Could be I just missed that. I'm wondering if any of the Mac users you contacted are running Apple Silicon Macs. It is my understanding that there is a different version for Silicon Macs; i.e., it does not run under Rosetta. BTW, I've seen this problem before in previous versions of Illustrator over the many years I have been using it.

Creative Cloud Desktop app allows to install older version (within a limit). Open Apps section, find the Installed Apps column at the right side, hover over Illustrator, notice the 'three dots' More Actions button and click; in the menu choose Other Versions, to choose an older build in the dialog. You should be able to choose if you want to keep the other version and the preferences.
Please reply if the behavior differs in the older build. So far Mac users I asked about this say it works fine for them... -

Thanks for your replies. Yes, I am dragging the color square with the Option key pressed. Since this happened after the last update, I'd be glad to go back to the previous one, but didn't know that was possible.

Charles, do you do it like this?

Can’t replicate it on Windows 10 with 29.5.1... The objects get duplicated just fine for me :(
Can you check the same behavior with the older build?
