Bezier handles become invisible
I use the latest version of Illustrator cc 2025, on Windows 10.
This problem has been going on for several, many versions back so it is not a version problem, but an Illustrator problem.
When I work on a file for a long time, for example creating brands, so the entire table is full of tests, ideas, etc..
I noticed that after working on the document for hours, days, it gets to a point that the BUG appears...
As shown in the photo, the yellow vector on the right is the original document. I cannot see on that vector and on all the others present the handles of the bezier curves, the anchor points, the corners widget... Many times (not in this case) the snap to the paths no longer works (which are already not very precise)... etc..
If I then create a new document and copy and paste the vector from the document with the bug, the handles magically appear and everything works again. (Orange vector on the left).
I repeat, it is not a version problem, it has been years, many years (maybe since CC2020 that I noticed this problem).
Does this happen to others? How did you solve it?
I hope Adobe solves it. (Ai has too many Bugs 😥 )
Happens when Cmd/Ctrl + H gets accidentally pressed, which is a hotkey for View > Show / Hide Edges command.

Why do you need to zoom in more though if not to scratch the 'ideal snapping' itch? Is there any other case?
I mean, with 64000% you can draw a 10 micron wide shape (and it’s very unstable to select even at this scale, the math gets fragile) — why do you need to create something this small? Can you give an example, a real one?

Surely being able to zoom in more to be able to better and precisely hook nodes, paths, guides etc.. is one of the reasons.
Many times I admit I miss the possibility of zooming in more...
Maybe it also depends on the monitor (4k)? -
The team is aware of all of these, there are requests filed here, this has been under development for quite a while.
It just takes long to operate on a living body without narcosis!Zoom in though... is there any other reason to zoom further EXCEPT for the 'the snapping is not precise'?

My savior <3 !!!
You are absolutely right, I solved it.
In fact I had tried to see under the view menu if something had changed in the display parameters.
I did not pay attention to that item because I was confused, I thought it was "SHOW SELECTION RECTANGLE"...Better that now I understand the problem.
I point out some other problems (but I think they are things you have known for years):
- Multicore/multi thread CPU not supported
- GPU that is not fully exploited (or not at all)
- Most of the time I find it difficult to snap vector to guide, Vector to vector.
(sometimes it hooks well, sometimes it doesn't hook at all, sometimes it hooks but with high zoom you can see that it doesn't hook)
"and this time it's not a question of settings under the view menu, I'm 100% sure of that"I understand that Illustrator is as old as it is, but between the instability of the software, slowness, and imprecision of drawing it is VERY FRUSTRATING TO WORK WITH.
I think the community doesn't ask for much for a leading software in the sector.- I know that the maximum zoom percentage was increased to 64,000% years ago, can't it be increased even more? With 4k monitors, zooming in to try to precisely position elements often isn't enough at 64,000%, believe me. Especially since, as I was saying, snapping and snapping to guides, grids and vectors doesn't always work as it should!

Nicky, this looks very much like you accidentally pressed Ctrl+H, which is a hotkey for View > Show / Hide Edges command.
It’s quite useful in some cases, but accidentally disabling it can indeed confuse many.
The option works per document, and this explains why you can see these again when pasting art into a new document.
Please try to press it back and forth and see if it’s the case!
