    This most probably happens because of the 'Select and Unlock objects on canvas' option being enabled in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display section.

    It allows to 'select' and unlock all or chosen objects directly on canvas. If you wish to have this option split into two — one for unlock widgets and one for having an ability to 'select' locked objects — please upvote a corresponding feature request here: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/48753221

    If I do understand well your suggestion : separate the "select" and the "unlock" options, I do like it!

    Indeed it does solve the issue. Don't know when it changed in my parameters.

    A pity though, I like being able to unlock with that option !
    Can't they coexist?
    Maybe there could be a keyboard key to unlock an object when it is disabled?

    Hi @Ankit,

    This issue still persists (it has been years).
    But it isn't a bug on a file we could send, it just happens at some point, and as we need to keep working, we restart Illustrator to continue our work.

    I don't know how will it help to get in touch via e-mail. If you'd like to have a look at this bug behaviour while it is happening, to be able to directly chat and show/interact might be more efficient.
    Should the support team be interested, let us know if there is a way to reach out "live" while it is happening (and when we're not in a hurry to complete our work).

    It seems it is the same issue I am facing 3 years after this bug report.

    As you can see on the screenshot, no layer is selected, yet the selection box won't go away wherever I click to try to make it disappear.
    I had to quit and open again.

    Not the first time it happens, but it seems there are more and more bugs now than before...

    Hi Egor, thanks for your super fast answer!
    I was super excited to learn that there was a solution, until I read about the French keyboard... As I am using one...
    I tried with other ` key on my keyboard or the ² but indeed nothing. That is such a pity ! Also that we can't remap it.
    I thought I could give it a try changing the language of the keyboard in the computer parameters but it didn't work either.

    Where did you see reports about it at UV? So that I can also vote on it.

    I Totally agree with that.
    Sending Fresco files to Ai is nice, but the other way around would also be great when working on a mix files (raster/vector).

    Of course, it would be even better if both could blend together without switching from one to the other.

    Yes, this cloud font library is a good idea but also a really really annoying thing...
    I have almost everyday issues with the syncing from the font I am using in projects.

    It is shown as missing, I have to go back to the font library, desactivate it, activate it, and pray it will work. Sometimes it works (after a few tries), sometimes it doesnt. Then restarting Illustrator may be a second option but can also be a fail. Log out, log in again, restart computer...
    Lot a time wasted.

    There must be a way to download/use the fonts locally if it doesn't get better soon.
    It ain't possible to work with this kinds of bug.

    Apologies for the inconvenience caused to you due to this issue and getting back to you this late.
    We are unable to reproduce this issue in house.
    Can you help the Illustrator team to isolate this issue further so that we can nail this down?
    If yes, then please let me know the following:
    1) Is this Issue still happening on your machine in the Latest version 23.0.3 ?
    2) If yes , Kindly follow the steps mentioned on the Kb Article "https://helpx.adobe.com/in/fonts/kb/troubleshoot-font-activation.html

    If they don’t solve the problem, collect the logs as per instruction in the troubleshooting page and email to fontsupport@adobe.com and support@typekit.com .

    I often have some font sync issues.
    Most of the time, if I deactivate an reactive the font family in fonts.adobe.com, it goes back to normal (annoying, but working at least).
    Now that I have to work with Futura font, it just keep being not recognized at all on my Illustrator desktop app. It works fine on Illustrator iOS or Indesign. So the bug come from Illustrator desktop I guess.
