An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment However, it’s a fair and precise conversion within chosen color spaces, by numbers.. RGB black gets converted into rich black in CMYK (because CMYK 0-0-0-100 is not as deep), and CMYK black gets converted to a shallow black in RGB... it is expected, but surely is not welcome in most practical cases.
There is a broader request related to this problem:
https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/37457056An error occurred while saving the comment True, this is very confusing, not only for inexperienced users. But as I see it, it means switching the document profile somehow, and it does not give seamless results, because a document profile can include so much more than just default colors.
Also it is not clear what to do with colors that are already used in a document... black is not a global swatch and it will be recalculated to a mixed ink anyway, which you will have to use Recolor or other approaches to fix...
So, it's not that easy.
Looking for more feedback and suggestions on that.An error occurred while saving the comment What document profile do you choose when create a new document?
If you pick Print profile, the black is obviously CMYK 0-0-0-100 which is lighter than RGB 0-0-0. Choose Web profile instead, which has RGB swatches (just checked).AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Alas, I can’t reproduce in on Windows 10... perhaps it’s something only Macs have. The team would need to tests it.
Thank you for the report and the video. I don’t recall anything like this yet! -

An error occurred while saving the comment How do you think Effect > Pathfinder > Add differs from Pathfinder panel’s Unite? As I see it, there is no difference between these two.

Add an option for Pathfinder to make compound paths instead of groups

It’s not perfect and will ignore characters of unique colour, but this is much better than action solution I used before.AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) shared this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment E, this is something Illustrator can do.
Select some art and go Object > Pattern > Make.
Illustrator will open a dedicated panel, Pattern Options, and inform you that a new pattern is created based on your art. You are now in the dedicated pattern creation mode, where Ai does all the process you are describing. You can set tile size, tiling options, move elements so they can get wrapped on edges... All the arsenal.Read this article about the details: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/create-edit-patterns.html
Does it cover your request?

An error occurred while saving the comment Yeah, Asset Export is very crude when exporting images... the price of the speed.
Here, a user made a comparison about this: https://www.craft.me/s/8F3uOEB2ECGXWv
Save for Web (Legacy!) is still the best way to assure nice antialiasing... even though it was never as nice like in Xara, it was always 'posterized' a bit.AdminEgor Chistyakov (Admin, Adobe Illustrator) supported this idea · -

The issue appears to be fixed in 27.8.1.
Please comment if you still have it.
An error occurred while saving the comment Mark, there were several issues with Type on Path, and the team made some changes to mitigate it in the latest Beta version one can download from the CCD application. Can you please try to install it (it won’t remove your existing 27.7) and verify if it is fixed or not?
Also — can you please share the test file with this particular text object and share the settings you use when send this to the PDF printer? -

An error occurred while saving the comment That’s right, the main tool panel should have only the Free Distort tool in it.
The smaller panel pops automatically when you pick the tool and have something selected, as the attached video demonstrates...
If you don’t see it anywhere, try to hit Tab to temporarily hide every other UI. If you have other a second monitor, check it also.An error occurred while saving the comment Are you able to see the small panel with 4 tool modes, or the Free Distort tool in the main tool panel?
Or do you mean you are seeing the small panel, but it misses the buttons?
Can you make a screenshot of what are you seeing exactly? An error occurred while saving the comment Francesco, do you mean this small panel Ai automatically shows above all other things when you select the Free Distort tool?
Do you mean you are able to see it, but it has only some tool modes in it, and not all four?
Or you just can’t find it anywhere? -

This happens when Snap to Grid is enabled. Even when invisible, it still affects snapping and prevents Smart Guides from assisting to snapping at artboard’s edges.
An error occurred while saving the comment Great to hear that! Thank you for replying back. I am marking it as Resolved. If something else strange happens — please comment.
An error occurred while saving the comment Can you please share the test file with these guides you created within only?
Also, what are you snap settings? Do you have Smart Guides enabled, and Snap to Grid disabled? Even if you don’t show the grid, the enabled Snap to Grid option will force guides to stick to invisible grid intersections. -

How do you try it exactly?
What does Ai show to you? Any messages? Anything unusual? Do you get any result at all?

The team has revised the UI for Image Trace and reverted it to the way it looked in 27.0. So far this is only available in the latest Beta version, but it is planned to make it released soon.

If you have converted a document from RGB to CMYK or vise versa, there is a way to modify the black Ai assigns when you hit D — since it is bound to the [Default Graphic Style] in Graphic Styles panel.
1. Create a rectangle
2. Hit D
3. Change the stroke of the stroke for this rectangle to the proper black you need (puro RGB 0-0-0 or CMYK 0-0-0-100, depending on your goal)
4. Open Graphics Styles panel
5. Drag this rectangle with Opt/Alt held over the [Default Graphic Style] item (usually it’s the very first one)
Done, your default black is now the one you defined.
You’d still have to modify the swatch.
Definitely Illustrator could have automated it and give users a choice to change these when they change the color mode of the document... but at least we can control it.
