It’s dangerous to call things Smart... When they behave dumb, the name sound like an insult. Sadly, this is the case.
Please provide more specific cases, with video proofs, ask you colleagues to share and vote, to move this further. This is the way to force changes to things that are broken — be vocal and persistent. Thank you all and let’s hope we get heard.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 25.4.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

An error occurred while saving the comment This does resolve the issue with Mac trackpad -however it would be great if there could be a UI lock/unlock icon, without having to go into preferences.
An error occurred while saving the comment There's a confusion on my system as well recognizing pinch or zoom with an Apple trackpad, OS Big Sur.

An error occurred while saving the comment Know you're working on it, this is a must - to disable Illustrator from rotating canvas when user prefers not to use it.

We have released a new version today - 3.0.1
There is an ability added in the settings within the application to turn off canvas rotation. You can toggle the setting to turn on and off the rotation.

An error occurred while saving the comment This is very important to my work as I use a lot of pattern fills - I would like the option to not only hide the art outside of a mask or clipping path, but the option to delete or crop them out for good!
what I miss seeing in Smart Guides is still not being reflected in the current version. I don't think I'm imagining that at one time using Smart Guides Illustrator would give you prompts when you were aligning to top/bottom/middle/left/right edge of a shape - that's the feature I miss most.
