    Hi Everyone,

All the effect checkboxes have now been set to ON by default, and are sticky (meaning that if you disable preview, on next launch of Illustrator preview will remain disabled). This functionality now is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.

    What’s new in 24.1: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback.

It doesn't look like this is moving beyond review anytime fast!

For anyone looking for a very affordable offset solution, look no further that Rick's Toolshed plugin here: https://rj-graffix.com/downloads/plugins/#toolshed

The offset can be preset to a specified distance, applied to open paths, and even be duplicated multiple times and then mirrored along the path.

Just posted this in a specific eyedropper request (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/38115490-eyedropper-tool-usable-during-color-picker) but this one has more support so will add here as well.

When re-writing the code for the eyedropper please look to make it available for selection from within the colour panel (it's already there on the gradient panel), and also the pop up dialog when creating a colour swatch. The reason for the later is so that it is easy to edit a swatch that is already in use in an existing file and replace the colour with something else sampled from elsewhere on the screen, be that inside the Illustrator app, or otherwise.

    Agreed!

I'm in the middle of updating a tonne of assets as the company has gone through a rebrand exercise with an entirely different colour palette. My new colours are available to me via CC Libraries, it would streamline the process if when double-clicking on a swatch, I could then sample from the updated library palette to automatically apply the changes to the corresponding artwork by updating the respective swatches.

We have released the support for Gradient swatches in CC library with our latest release - v29.3

You can select the gradient swatch in swatches panel and add it to CC Library through the button on the bottom bar in the panel. You can also select any object which has gradient applied and add that gradient to CC Library through Add Elements from the Libraries panel and choose Fill Gradient from the drop-down menu.

Please update to this version from your Creative Cloud Desktop application and let us know your feedback.

I'm not going through 5 pages of comments so apologies if this has already been mentioned but libraries also need to support Freeform gradients. While you're at it Adobe, please update the swatch panel so that these can also be saved there!

I know you can save artwork to the library with gradients applied and then uncouple the colour from the shape once you Alt-drag it back into a file from the CC Library, but hacks are hacks and this really should just work properly.

That looks like a limit to me? The request is to remove it. ... a.k.a infinite canvas.

I don't want a 10x increase in canvas size at the detriment of limited zoom functionality.

My biggest issue with the canvas limit is not being able to bring in massive CAD files used for masterplanning/road improvement schemes and the like without some poor attempt at re-scaling.

This also means that while looking at this, you also need to be improving how Illustrator can be better suited to handling multi-million points/paths.

This feels like you're trying to find a way to fit this functionality into the current setup with an additional bit of code instead of overhauling what is a fairly archaic limitation.

Much in the way that Adobe Acrobat allows you to 'Edit PDF' I need you to develop a similar capability for objects in Illustrator in order to open them and edit in Photoshop.

Currently linked objects can be opened in an editor or an embedded image could be unlinked so that it can be edited in a similar fashion. I'd like to see the approach taken with the generation of a temporary file used to enable short term editability that then gets brought back into the Illustrator document.

For example, when you have a lot of tiled basemap images. I should be able to highlight them all then right mouse click > edit with Photoshop. To send a temporary instance of the selection to Photoshop so that it can be adjusted and then returned back to Illustrator.

Appreciate it's not as simple as that, you have to contend with linked instances, multiple embedded file types, colour profiles etc. However if it can be achieved with Acrobat, why not with other tools in Adobe Creative Cloud?

The latest functionality to be rolled out to the Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher range makes full use of their interoperability. A feature like the one I describe would go some way to replicating this functionality.

I would then recommend that you look to replicate this to a range of the Adobe CC apps. Shapes and vector paths in Photoshop should have a function where they can temporarily be sent to Illustrator for refinement. Likewise, InDesign can send links for editing in Photoshop or Illustrator but not when you paste in an image that becomes embedded, or once you've created any vectors natively in InDesign. These should also be able to be temporarily opened in Photoshop/Illustrator for adjustment.

Interactivity in InDesign has been stagnant for too long. You have a great tools in After Effects and XD that ought to be able to facilitate the generation of interaction for digital documents destined for PDF, but authored in InDesign.

This cross compatibility throughout - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, XD - should be so ingrained throughout the wider Adobe offering that your entire suite that is doesn't end up feeling (to use the drive storage term) JBOD - Just a Bunch of Developers - all working on different projects!

If you haven't already, please create a team to sit atop your individual application development teams to look specifically at opportunities to improve software compatibility and interaction throughout the Adobe Creative Cloud.

Yeah, seriously this is needed! Also the ability to set the resolution of the images would help. I've picked up a file where another designer edited a PDF in Illustrator as the basis for a map destined on an A0 board. The basemap has about 128 tiles which are 450+dpi and is causing the .ai file to save at over 1.2GB.

I really need a quick way to export all those tiled images (ideally together) so that I can load up into Photoshop to get the file size down by reducing the images to about 100dpi.

Of course this should have been down at the outset but the file has been developed too far now! The ability to make this type of change retrospectively is a must!

The latest Beta now has a dedicated option for this in Preferences > Smart Guides section, in Limit Snapping area. We can now choose if we want to Snap to Isolated Objects ('...only, when isolated' — the name is not clear at the moment).

This is a WIP feature, and the team desperately needs your feedback on it. Please test it and comment if it works as expected (or not).

Hey Egor - I like the sound of this and just came to suggest a slightly different option whereby smart guides are set to ignore everything on a specific layer selected via the layers options. Especially useful for times when you put reference material on a locked layer beneath which is there for visual reference only.

I'd say the option for exclusion of anything outside of isolation belongs in preferences > smart guides

I'm not sure under which tool this should exist but I need an option to help make whole selections. The (incorrectly named) Group (path!) selection tool enables you to select continuous paths but it's method for drawing is limited to rectangles. The Lasso tool on the other hand enables me to select in a freeform fashion but doesn't select the whole path, only anchors beneath the drawn out shape.

I'd like an option within the Lasso tool (when you double-click) which sets the selection behaviour like that of the Group Selection Tool, between path selection and anchor selection mode.

Oh and while you're at it, why not add an option to the Group Selection Tool so that it actually selects groups? Call it path selection and group selection mode.

    Thanks!

Please share your thoughts on the following:

    1. Would it make sense to have a separate desktop app, just to create charts, and bring them inside Illustrator or InDesign? It may not be on cloud.

    2. Or would you rather have us work on building it within Illustrator?

    Thanks
    Yogesh
