The new functionality allows searching layers by name using the searchbar in the layers panel. The users can also apply filters based on layer properties (locked, hidden etc) or objects properties (effects, text etc.). This will help to quickly find layers/objects for large documents (having multiple layers).
Please install Illustrator Beta build 27.7.0.15 and provide your feedback

This is a fantastic idea!
It doesn't do everything you've described, but there is a plugin that gives you more "Select Same" options and it's free. Find it here: https://rj-graffix.com/downloads/plugins/#selectmenu

I was going to post this, but found yours. But it's a very good idea - please implement it Adobe!
My original post:
----Could we have it so SHIFT "Adds" to selection (which is current effect), but then CONTROL or COMMAND "Subtracts" from the selection?
This would be a very useful interface tweak, and it works this way in Photoshop and Cinema 4D.
For example: I have a file with many overlapping shapes/masks. I make a large marquee selection, but accidentally grab several things I don't want. I can hold SHIFT and carefully select the objects I don't want to deselect them, BUT if I miss and hit something else I don't want, it gets added to my selection.
If CONTROL or COMMAND was always a "Subtract" modifier, I could easily click on objects to remove them from the current selection without worrying about it.

I am happy to share that ‘Auto spell-check’ feature has been shipped in the latest version of Illustrator. Here is how to enable/disable it in the latest release : https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/whats-new/2020.html#spellcheck

The latest 2022 release has the Discover window that you can quickly call using F1 by default, which searches most if the commands available.
Have you tried it? Please tell us how it differs from what you expect from the global search you have in mind? What is missing or can be improved?Michael Walz supported this idea ·

But yes, please Adobe, more cloud integrations for those of us who work on multiple machines and like to customize our UI. Gets annoying to constantly be putting palettes where I want them when I move machines.

They had this a few versions ago, but then removed it. No idea why. And I don't think it worked consistently across the Suite.

HOW is it 2020 and Illustrator does not have this?
Good to see that Creative Cloud subscription money going to good use!
Unbelievable Adobe.
