Separations Preview should show colour values
The Separations Preview panel doesn't show the colour values of each colour channel at the cursor location. This makes checking the total values of overprinted spot colours or taking colour-value readings from inside gradients impossible. As such, it's only half useful. If it works in InDesign, the expectation is that it works in Illustrator.

Make Recent Color section as in Photoshop
It would be nice to have a thing similar to Photoshop strip of recently used colors, with an ability to quickly convert one or several into proper swatches.
Probably a function that just add all used color into swatches automatically can be useful also, with a clear signaling it is active, to prevent accidental swatches bloating.27 votes -
Please show document name in full screen mode too
When in Full Screen mode (MacOS), the top bar shows 'Adobe Illustrator 2022', but not the name of the document (which is much more relevant ;-)

Top toolbar should display true length and width of shapes, not the "properties" of the shape.
It's very confusing when you reference the top toolbar to see the length and width of a shape only to realize the values are completely wrong. This is because the top toolbar displays the "properties" of a shape for whatever reason. The length of an object should always be the longest horizontal measurement, and the height should always be the longest vertical measurement, regardless of rotation. Despite not displaying true length and width, the toolbar uses symbols which clearly indicate length and width: a double ended horizontal arrow first, then a double ended vertical arrow second. Find and Replace text panel not closing after every replacement
When you need to replace multiple text in illustrator right now you need to copy the text go to Edit - Find and replace, paste your text, replace it, and then click done which results to closing the window.
So you must reopen the window every time for the next replacement.
You can have this option as it is in InDesign where you can copy and paste text while the window is open and the window stays open after you done replacing. Also it will be more convenient to be able to add the panel at the dock.

Select objects underneath
Sometimes there are duplicate objects below your most top object. There should be a command or feature that lets you see/ select duplicate geometries right below your top shapes.

Make Undo feature to not apply to selected objects
Basically what the title says,
An ability to isolate objects or lock certain layers where the undo feature will not apply to.
There have been a number of times where I start to work on a complex graphic with separate parts to it where I later realize I made a mistake on a piece i did earlier, so instead of saving the project, undo everything, save again and re import the previous saved file or other copy paste methods, we can just select the objects where the undo feature will not apply to, to keep the progress of the work…1 vote -
Quick View (Space Bar on Mac) "elements" in Libraries "Tab Group"
You can hover over Libraries elements and see more written info. But as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and a large "quick viewing" would help speed up the identification and selection of elements from Tab Group.

Export for screens missing modern features in order to be useful for responsive images on the web in 2022
It's 2022 and responsive images on the web are well supported across all browsers.
Export for Screens is close to being a good tool for this, but missing out on a few smaller but critical needs for modern responsive web (by priority):

Pen tool - just double click last point to stop drawing (and leave path open)
It used to be (many versions ago) that if I was drawing with the pen tool, all I had to do is double click my last point, and it would end that graphic, leaving it open, and leaving the tool ready to draw another line. Now the only way to stop seems to be to hit return (which is awkward since I am right handed), go hit another tool, or use a keystroke. All of these take more time and break my train of thought.

We need Illustrator to be able to edit triangular meshes
Ai can display triangular meshes alright, but not edit.
We can generate one by expanding modern 3D object with the Render as Vector option turned on, we can have one generated after expanding an object filled with Freeform Gradient (which is just the live container with control points for creating one, with no control over the density).
But once they are created, we get 'Non-Native Art' bricks we can do nothing with — no Recolor, no direct edit with mesh tools, only scale and rotate and distort.
Not enough! We need you to support these fully.

Extend the grid interval from 377.7 mm to 1000 mm (or more, who cares if it 100,000,000 with 1000 subdivisions?)
To make it easier to use real world dimensions when drawing large artwork in Ai I have a document that is a few meters wide and a few meters high.
I want the major grid lines at 1000 mm interval (its a 1 to 1 technical drawing) and subdivisions of 10, so minor grid lines at 100 mm intervals.
I can't, Ai has a max grid interval of 377.777777.
Doesn't make sense to limit it in this way. Grid intervals in AutoCAD etc. are whatever you want them to be at all.

When sharing a file for a client to add comments. Add a button for when they are done adding comments.
When sharing a file for a client to add comments. It would be good for a button to be added saying "done" or "finished". At the moment, we get notified for every comment, and I don't know when the client has finished adding all their comments. It would be good to get a notification of when they have finished.

Error en la traducción al español - Menú «Ver»

Offset path within appearance palette
It would be good to have 'offset path' built into the appearance palette, so you could automatically draw a stroke which was a double line, maybe of two different colours or widths, and it would perfectly shape itself around corners and bends.

Eyedropper doesn't include the arrow heads on a line
If I have a line selected and I use the eyedropper on a different line with a stroke and arrow heads, it only copies the stroke not the arrow heads.
Please make it include the arrow heads.
Also, the most useful arrow head is number 27, it should be number 1 not number 27.
In fact, if there was a checkbox you could click in the stroke properties window that automatically changed a line to a measurement label so it put an arrowhead 27 on each end, changed the stroke to like 4pt yellow, and a text box half way…
1 voteThe Eyedropper tool’s options can be configured to transfer arrowheads, which are treated as 'complex appearance'.

Ability to change measurement type under "Art Board Options"
When an artboard is selected, and ART BOARD OPTIONS menu is active, you can only see measurement in whatever type is already selected DOCUMENT SETUP - i.e. if you get a file that someone built under millimeters, but you work in pixels, inches etc, you have to close the OPTIONS and go back to DOCUMENT SETUP and start over. I have to check art board sizes dozens of times a day and I have to back up many times. A drop down menu under ARTBOARD OPTIONS to change measurement type would be helpful.

Add Plus buttons as the sides of a selected artboard to quickly add new artboards
Photoshop displays nice (+) buttons to allow users to add new artboards to any side of a current one.
In Illustrator, Add buttons exist only in Control and Properties, and always add an artboard next in a row.
Not fair.
And if you add these new Add buttons — allow to disable them too. Some will disagree on having extra fluff on canvas.Mockup image by Oleg Krasnov
