  1. 'Position-Lockable' Text Boxes/text

    Would it be possible to be able to 'lock' the position of a text box/line of text, but for the text content still be editable? This would be great for templated work, or just to make sure nothing shifts on the artboard to keep consistency.?

  2. Add Color Mode "Bitmap" to TIFF Options in File > Export > Export As

    I regularly export high resolution (1440 ppi) black and white TIFF images from Illustrator. Right now they must be exported as grayscale and then I have to open them in Photoshop and convert them to 1 bit images and resave.

  3. Embed SBSAR 3D Material Into .AI File

    The ability to embed a 3D SBSAR material into an illustrator file so that other designers can open and use the same .ai file. Currently, the material is lost and greyed out.

    Especially if they are custom SBSAR materials made in Adobe Substance Sampler.

  4. We need separate snap options for Artboards vs Objects

    Currently, 'Snap to Pixel' affects both the artboards and objects on them.

    However, there are some issues with this:

    • Artboards can snap to .5 pixels. It's VITAL to snap artboards to pixel as the 'Export for Screens' will add extra unwanted pixels otherwise.

    • Objects can snap to the whole pixel, not the half pixel.

    • While snap to pixel for artboards is vital for certain features not to break, pixel snapping for objects is not.

    The solution? There should be an Artboard snapping option, separate to the one that affects all objects.

  7. Export for Screen Preset system is a FIASCO

    As comments for this thread are closet, I start a new one.

    This Preset thing is a disaster. It doesn't fix any issues I have with Export For Screens.

    It doesn't save the Folder for the export. So I have to set it every time I open my document, as Illustrator set it to the same folder as where my AI document is. This was, and now still is, my major problem with Export for Screens.

    Also, I have to select the Preset every time I open my AI file. The least I was hoping was that the settings…

  8. Printing one artboard multiple times on one sheet

    It would be very beneficial to have a feature that allows you to save a pdf with multiple copies of your artboard on one sheet with cut marks. Something similar to the attached screenshot (that was manually created).

  9. Make Recolor Artwork freely draggable

    The initial Recolor panel cannot be dragged around on small screens (that you need to set up for recording tutorials or for whatever other reason). The controls are hidden. It would be great if this panel would behave like a normal panel when dragging around.

    In the screenshot the monitor is set to 1280 x 720 and the dragstrip is not available. For even smaller screens, some control might get out of reach.

  10. Transform Each new features: origin offset, random seed

    We need more smart tools in Transform Each
    - Offset origin transform
    (unnecessary extra vertex to do array transform circular for Example)

  13. Let Drop Shadow effects ignore each other

    In Photoshop we can have multiple dropped shadows be applied to a single object, and they all get layered upon each other. It gives users flexibility to use different colors, densities, feathering, etc.

    In Illustrator, on the other hand, the Appearance works differently. Each new Drop Shadow get applied to the previous dropped shadow. The larger the blur is, the more useless the next shadow gets.

    To get a layered shadow the same way we do it in Photoshop, we have to apply each shadow to its own fill.

  14. export non-printing layers so they are visible in a PDF

    I believe this used to not be a problem, but now when I have a layer set to not print, it is not visible in a PDF. I have to toggle the layer on in Acrobat in order to see it, but this does not work for my needs.

    I want to make non-printing layers automatically visible when saving as a PDF.

  15. Sort Links by size

    Sort by name, kind and status already exists in Links palette options.
    Please add a size option (personally would find it useful so I can see offending large links to prioritise downsizing).

  16. For when you're creating graphics in different Middle Eastern or south asian languages there should be a option to format the whole artboad

    When you don't know the language in which you're designing you can miss formatting text boxes. They end up being gross errors in your final output.
    Also, it requires too many steps even now.
    A button to format the text on an entire artboard would really save a lot of time!

  17. Add Preview tick to Average dialogue

    Average dialog can be still confusing, and I personally often use a wrong option when I average points.

    For some reason when I choose 'horizontal', I often imagine points to share the same X value, 'occupy the same position horizontally'... Same applies to Y. Sure, this is not what Ai mean, in fact it’s 'stick to the horizontal axis'.

    I see both views as valid, and can’t learn it solid enough to never make mistakes. However, Ai can learn and add the sticky Preview checkmark, so I and others were able to see the result before they hit OK.

  18. Drag tools from one toolbar to another

    When I setup tool panels for various reasons), I can’t just drag it between tool panels.
    The only way to do it now is to remove the tool first in the first toolbox and add it again in the second one. Each panel has its own Edit mode and tools get dragged only within an edited panel :(

  19. As introduced in Photoshop the Warp option for Cylinder should be in illustrator

    It will be much easier to use the warp on a cylinder in vector art, it was introduced in Photoshop. If I’m working on a design in Adobe illustrator and want to warp some text or a label on a bottle
    why not stay in vector art, instead of using photoshop?

    There is a way to do the same exact distortion in Illustrator, using a free MeshTormentor plugin (please see the full instruction in the comments).

    However, an easier native way to do it is still welcome (as the general improvements over mesh distortion capabilities) — so please keep voting for this if you want it to happen.

  20. set pdf content active as helpers/rules when imported

    As it's convenient to keep links to reference file, it's sometimes mandatory to attach/align new shape to points/path of the imported shape.
    but by default the pdf content is not "live". it would be valuable to have this content live as it's possible for Glyphs or symbols...
